I read this quote a couple of times and I think I know what he is saying. That those that are complaining (not a word I would use) don’t want to be successful (again a word I wouldn’t use) as much as trump wants them to be.
Is that what he is saying? If so wouldn’t that translate to these complaining folks lack drive to be successful?

It sounds to me like he's calling them lazy.

He is saying that Trump's policies are there for the taking and will cure any ills the Black community is facing, they just have to want it and to use it and 'poof' everything will be good.

He is saying that people have to want to be successful, have inner drive, do their own work. Trump can make it easier with laws/regulations but they have to want to it themselves.
Which is true, to a degree, but it is ironic coming out of the mouth of someone who had everything handed to him.

I guess I did understand what he was saying.
You know people like trump and this idiot represent the worst of this country.
Unbelievable.

My take on the asshole comment from him is that he is saying Trump has given “those complaining” all the opportunities they need to succeed and if they do not it is their fault. 🤯

I think for a lot, not all, of folks who call themselves conservatives they truly believe people chose to be poor. It’s this group that is so dead against social programs that help people. When they talk about being fiscally responsible that, to me, is code to get rid of social programs that don’t benefit them personally.
Again, I don’t think all conservatives think that way.
And as far as being lazy, the laziest person I’ve seen is the idiot in The White House. That man is so damn lazy. No wonder, as a businessman, he had to keep declaring bankruptcy.

The same old tired racist trope that the black community is not succeeding because they don’t ‘want to’.
If it weren’t such a tragic part of systemic racism I’d be laughing at the comment. It’s really enraging that this continues to be thrown out as valid.

Translation: Not our fault that you’re so busy whining that you haven’t proven you’re interested in summoning the motivation needed to jump high enough in the air to catch the three rolls of paper towels being lobbed at the crowd by my kindly, jovial father-in-law.

He is saying he is a racist. That's what I got out of his "message". I'm also very interested in what Olan thinks about Ice Cube "working with" Jared. I have my opinions but I'm not a black person living in 2020 so I'd like to hear her thoughts.

He sounds like he's missing his hood or tiki torch. Depending upon which crowd he's pandering to at any given moment.
A racist version of the old bootstraps trope.

The Tiki company had the balls to condemn them for using Tiki torches in such a horrible racist manner, unlike Trump. Tiki, which is owned by the Wisconsin-based Lamplight Farms, denounced the white nationalists in a Facebook post on Aug. 12. “We do not support their message or the use of our products in this way,” it said. “Our products are designed to enhance backyard gatherings and to help family and friends connect with each other at home in their yard.” www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2017/08/20/business/media/charlottesville-tiki-torch-company.amp.htmlAnother American company screwed over by Trump & co.

We bought loads of them for my DD's drive by bridal shower luau. And they repelled mosquitoes.
Stupid racists to try to ruin them.
Did you know they also have cool designs? We got a brass pineapple one and a glass tiki god one. There are so many to fit different themes.

We can have every social program laid out at someone's feet and if they are unwilling to take advantage of those programs what should we as a society do? There are so many factors as to why someone is poor, but to improve your life, you have to want to improve your life. Others cannot do it for you. So I kind of get what he's saying.
I work with this population and I have seen many work their way out of their situation and I have seen some that continue in the same cycle and blame everyone else for their problems. Doesn't matter their skin color. I had one person explain it to me and it has always stuck with me. Some people are so used to a life of chaos that when things start going normal for them, they panic and cause chaos because that is their comfort zone. It made me really think about what other's are going through and helping them where they are at.

If this were a Twilight Zone episode, ol' Jared would wake up tomorrow in the circumstances he obviously doesn't understand, and would find out how helpful Trump's policies are for people in those circumstances.

He’s saying I’m as much of a fucking racist as my FIL. That’s exactly what it boils down too. No need to look further into that empty head of air.
ETA- I went down the rabbit hole on the Kushner family a couple months ago. The family wears the mantle of Jared Kushners grandparents, who survived the Holocaust. Jared was taught to live up to them. Good example to have, obviously. Too bad Daddy Kushner didn’t understand the lesson and became a criminal who greased the way for Jared at every turn. To sum up, he thinks everyone is out to get him, just like Trump. He is Trump, just with a slicker veneer.

The absolute unmitigated gall of this from someone whose daddy bribed his way into Harvard who is in his current job because his FIL was elected president.

I have my opinions but I'm not a black person living in 2020 so I'd like to hear her thoughts. I'm not Olan, but here are my thoughts, and I'd be interested for you to share yours. Black people in America aren't a monolith. See also: Herman Cain, Candace Owens, Kanye West. All of those people have access to wealth/class resources not afforded to other Black Americans. All of those people are individuals for whom being Black is part of their identity, but that doesn't mean they hold the same values as any other Black American, just as I don't necessarily hold the same values as the white woman across the street with a campaign sign for a racist POS running for congress in my district! Know what I mean? Our identities are multi-layered, and while our race informs a lot of our choices because it informs our lived experiences in this country, it isn't necessarily the only part of our identities that inform our choices. When we look at overall voting patterns by race, we definitely see a trend that more Black Americans vote for Democrats than not, for sure. Sometimes we have to be careful about identifying individuals as representative of an entire race. (I'm not saying you were doing that, but some people love to point to Candace Owens in this way, for example, to say things like "Black people love Trump.")

i took it as "THEY have to want to be successful. Trump can only want so much for them if they don't want it for themselves first." For real, who gets up in the morning, grabs a cup of coffee and sighs, "Thank God I'm not successful. I've got to remember to be careful today and not do anything that might make me successful. Yikes. Don't want THAT to happen." Anyone that thinks our president wants people at a disadvantage to be successful anyway is delusional. His entire value system relies on having others at a disadvantage. This is not a " a rising tide floats all boats" kind of guy. I can't believe that needs to be pointed out. it seems to be his business model too. he is notorious for not paying vendors. he has filed bankruptcy a few times leaving creditors in the lurch. he and his family were famous for being slumlords. he is stripping people healthcare, reproductive, marriage and immigration rights as we speak. he's stacking the courts. he is take take take from those who need it the most.

Something something boot straps, something something blacks are too lazy to take the golden opportunity their dear white leader has graciously offered.
Jared needs to be stabbed in the throat with that fucking silver spoon he was born with.
