I hate the Republicans more than I have ever hated anyone in my life. They are pure unadulterated EVIL. Joe Biden needs to pack the courts. Then the Democratic Senate needs to make these rules: No Republicans can ever pass a vote without 60 yes votes. Dems can still have 50. Me too, and I am a Republican! I hate what they have done to my party. I will never vote Republican again with this group of GOP losers. My values, are with the pro-life, and moral values party, which is the Democrat party! There is nothing pro-life about this group of Republicans. Sorry for the rant but I hate them so much too! I hope the Democrats win and do so much to change the evil ways of the current Republican party. Only with Biden can we defeat covid.

Well, at some point it will stop, right? Realistically, we’re not going to end up with dozens upon dozens of justices on the SC even if the two parties retaliate against each other. Here’s the other thing I want to bring up. Has anyone here ever seen the GOP navel gaze every time they have to do something that is harmful to the majority in the country? Never. They coalesce into one solid group and go for it. They don’t care about being called hypocrites or power-hungry. They just do it. We Dems are our worst enemies sometimes because we overthink too often. It’s Thunderdome. We need to suit up, gird our loins, and fight.(bold mine) Years ago, I listened to Teri Gross interview somebody who one of the pioneers of GOP direct mailing. He wasn’t rabidly partisan, so was candid. He said that a message to Republicans voters should always be very black and white, and Democratic voters want more grey - more nuance, more explanation - in their messaging. He admitted it made his job easier. Speaking of navel gazing and all. Might you be referring to Richard Viguerie? Facilitating wins through alternative media? I read his book eons ago. (I’m searching through my bookshelves to see if I still have it. Might be worth another read.) Anyway, the B&W approach is simplistic, yes, but effective.

Wait. This is the official Twitter of the Republican members of the Senate judiciary committee? Our elected representatives? Announcing a SC justice election? (Which is fine.) But they added a taunt to Hillary Clinton? Seriously? Not a joke account? Yeesh, I was surprised when the Trump campaign sent out a sympathy tweet about Brad Parscale’s, erm, domestic event and then blamed liberals and RINOs for the event, but this is the United States Senate. It’s way more than tacky. More than mean. Sure, I’ll agree with evil. But also so excruciatingly infantile. It’s actually the HOUSE judiciary committee (think Jim Jordan) Twitter account, but yes, totally unforgivable in what I’d like to think of as civilized society.

I like Pete’s plan. I think most people want a balanced court. I also like the idea posted in the NYT article of adding a constitutional court.

It's not 10D and 10R. It's 5D and 5R, with add'l 5 on one-year terms. I don't even know at present how to do this. This was from last year. How do we begin with 5R and 5D as he proposes when Ginsburg is gone? We’re 6R and 3D.

His Holy Rankness. Dumbass reprobate. But since my other choice was the esteemed senior senator from South Carolina, dumbass reprobates abound. #dumbassinterchangeablereprobates

Sounds right - as does a publishing date of 2004. I remember it was an interesting interview and surprisingly candid overall. Of course, 2004 seems like a political lifetime ago...

I think it's a great idea. But there had better be 9 women.

I'm tired to holding to norms the other side sh#($*s on daily. Pfft. Norms. They don’t even let CONSCIENCE deter them. When the GOP does it, it’s called a perfectly reasonable “electoral consequence.” When Dems threaten to do it, it’s called “judicial Armageddon.” Screw that. Just do it.

Questions that always pop in my head when I see shit like this:
Who would sleep beside men like this?
Who raised this man?
Who ensures he gets a prostate exam? Buys his underwear?
How? Why?

Questions that always pop in my head when I see shit like this: Who would sleep beside men like this? Who raised this man? Who ensures he gets a prostate exam? Buys his underwear? How? Why? Women who need a man to validate their self-worth. Or just need an income. “Mothers of Massive Resistance: White Women and the Politics of White Supremacy.” Book by Elizabeth Gillespie McRae. I haven’t read this yet, but intend to when the election furor calms down and I can get it on my Kindle from the library. "They are often seen in photos of crowds in the mid-century South--white women shooting down blacks with looks of pure hatred. Yet it is the male white supremacists who have been the focus of the literature on white resistance to Civil Rights. This groundbreaking first book recovers the daily workers who upheld the system of segregation and Jim Crow for so long--white women. Every day in rural communities, in university towns, and in New South cities, white women performed a myriad of duties that upheld white over black. These politics, like a well-tended garden, required careful planning, daily observing, constant weeding, fertilizing, and periodic poisoning. They held essay contests, decided on the racial identity of their neighbors, canvassed communities for votes, inculcated racist sentiments in their children, fought for segregation in their schools, and wrote column after column publicizing threats to their Jim Crow world. Without white women, white supremacist politics could not have shaped local, regional, and national politics the way it did, and the long civil rights movement would not have been so long. This book is organized around four key figures--Nell Battle Lewis, Florence Sillers Ogden, Mary Dawson Cain, and Cornelia Dabney Tucker--whose political work, publications, and private correspondence offer a window onto the broad and massive network of women across the South and the nation who populate this story. Placing white women's political work from the 1920s to the 1970s at the center, this book demonstrates the diverse ways white women sustained twentieth century campaigns for white supremacist politics, continuing well beyond federal legislation outlawing segregation, and draws attention to the role of women in grassroots politics of the 20th century."--Provided by publisher.
