of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact My kids were explaining this to us tonight. If this group of states can get 270 electoral votes, they have agreed that all their electoral votes will go to the candidate who wins the popular vote, effectively doing away with the electoral college. www.nationalpopularvote.com/state-statusCurrently at 198 votes. If you live in Colorado you CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. It is a veto vote on the ballot

Would this be legal? I can't imagine it would.

Ah, yes NaPoVo InterCo. I am one hundred million bazillion percent in support of this sneaky plan. CGP Grey also has made so many great videos about the electoral college and voting and everyone should watch them, so check out his channel. Turns out Legal Eagle also published a video that touches on it too

The electoral college just makes me so very mad. It has a severely racist background and it essentially means that only a select few states votes count. If you are all red or all blue, your vote doesn't count.
Popular vote is YOUR VOTE COUNTS. The Republicans are putting out "maps" showing TX, CA and NY as controlling everything, and every time I see one of those posted in FB, I tell them they are wrong.
Plus, I really believe that polls should close at the same time across the country. That may mean opening them a day before in HI and AK, but they should. Everyone's vote must count!

Interesting. I think at the very least, the electoral votes should be representative of the votes in the state. Not all or nothing.

I see that Michigan has tried on 2008. Republicans have controlled some level of the state legislature for the past 10 years. I doubt it will go forward until we have a Democratic majority in both houses here.

Wow, I’m shocked this is something we did before California did it. Probably the only good thing Corzine did.

I doubt it will go forward until we have a Democratic majority in both houses here. And therein lies the rub. You have to have the majority of both houses in your state’s legislature. This why I don’t see this happening anytime soon. In Illinois, a blue state, we’ve been waiting for twelve years for more states to join. Red states won’t be joining this because there’s no advantage for them.

Thanks for posting the videos rune2484. As someone who did not grow up here, the Legal Eagle video was most informative.
