I'm curious how people feel about negative political ads vs positive ones. Which do you see more in your area? Is there a certain party that tends to have more negative ads in your area?

I have noticed a mix of positive and negative, but I mute many ads, so...

It appears my area is all about who they can smear the worst and dig dirt up on. Those running for Senate are the worse. They had a debate and one of the questions from the moderator was if you had to give yourself a grade on smear campaigning, what would it be. One wouldn't answer and the other gave himself a B and I gasped as I would have given him a big fat F.

In my area, I have always felt that the Republicans are much more negative. This year is no exception. They are all trying to capitalize on the “radical left” and “mob” and “Nancy Pelosi and lies and fear mongering that go along with that. I’ve noticed negative ads about one of the house republicans candidates but they are sponsored by people against PAC’s and don’t mention the democratic candidate at all.
My mom says it is the same in her area.
I have just been watching the news and really paying attention to whether or not I am biased and just not noticing the negative ads against Republican candidates. That isn’t the case. Tina Smith (who I am worried is going to lose) has positive ads about herself but IMO, she should also be pointing out the negative things her challenger has said and done. He seems like a misogynistic pig.

People say they hate negative ads, but time and time again they've proved to be effective so we're stuck with them. I hardly ever watch live tv, so am spared most of them.

I was wondering which was more effective as well, but it seems that the negative ads work. Especially right now when people are believing all of the fear mongering.

In my area the negative ads I’ve seen are all Republican. I wish they didn’t work and we would see more positive ads.

One thing I really appreciate about the negative ads is that they often help me decide to vote for their competitor. And most often, the most inflammatory ads and the biggest fear mongerers are Republicans.
If I hear things like "he works for China, the people that brought us this virus", I'm probably going to consider him strongly because I know these are the fear tactics of scared conservatives.
I rarely watch live TV with ads and whenever I do I'm shocked at the things I hear.
What a pleasure it was to see Obama endorse a Georgia candidate, in his calm and measured tones. No scaring is with China and The Virus. I definitely voted for him based on that (positive) ad.
So it depends.
