I came across this blog post on facebook or somewhere. The writer and her friend, American missionaries, were invited to a bridal shower in Tanzania. Their take? After this, American bridal showers will always be boring. As if!  Ahhhh here's the prequel, written by her knife dancing friend! "Last week, I went to my first Tanzanian Kitchen Party. To my North American readers, you might imagine Tupperware, Pampered Chef and Cutco knives. But, if you were invited to the kitchen party I went to you would blush, and desperately hope your mother-in-law was not coming to the same event. Let’s start with a lesson on culture: they are different. Well, duh, you might be thinking, but I mean VERY different. In this case, a Kitchen Party is a fusion of bridal shower meets bachelorette party meets Girls Gone Wild. But these aren’t girls…these are peoples’ grandmas..."
