Would you ever consider putting in an entry submission or audition for a reality TV Show? Game show?
We watch quite a few reality TV shows but some of them require a real skill or talent like American Idol, the Voice, Ninja Challenge, etc...skills I definitely don’t have.
Really enjoy Survivor and Amazing Race but I’m not a strong swimmer and I have a fear of heights.
The Bachelor(ette), Big Brother? - not looking for a partner, or a bunch of roommates lol
I love Jeopardy and when the stars align for categories that match with my knowledge - watch out! But that happens once a year.
Baking challenges...I love to cook and bake but don’t think I could compete at that level.
Home Reno shows...yes please! ExDH and I purchased a “unique” fixer upper and I looked into applying but in Canada most of these shows are set in BC or Ontario so a no go there.
So, what about you? Would you? Have you?

What kind of reality show? The only one I would do is probably The Amazing Race. But never for something like Bachelorette, or where you all live in a big house. I wouldn’t even try out for Survivor.

Never. I despise reality shows. All of them. I don't watch a single one.

I tried to audition for Amazing Race way, way back in the day. They were having open casting, or whatever you call it. I went down there and it was a madhouse and I didn't care enough to wait.

I've been trying to get on Wheel of Fortune for YEARS! I would only do that or maybe Family Feud but most definitely NEVER a reality show!

NO, never. In this world of 'warriors behind keyboards", I wouldn't be able to handle all of the remarks that would be said about me or my team. I would have to give our personal information and become a "public figure". Too old for that stuff.

Never - because the thought of being centre-stage like that makes me anxious just thinking about it, let alone actually doing it! Even if I was skilled enough, I wouldn’t do it.
I enjoy watching some types of reality shows - Great British Bake Off, Great British Sewing Bee etc, but I cannot stand shows like Survivor etc.

I want to go on Strictly Come Dancing, but given I have no public profile, and can’t even bend my leg enough to put on a sock, I don’t think there’s much chance of it ever happening.

The only kind that tempts me at all are the home renovation shows, but I have a friend who was on one, and.. Well, it wasn't as good as it seemed. Also, those shows NEVER DIE. I saw a rerun of that show years later, when my friend's life circumstances and job had changed a lot, and it really made me think about how much of myself I wanted to put out there on camera for posterity - especially when someone else has control of the editing.

I would love to be on Survivor but I can't lie at all without it showing on my face. I don't like lying to someone to begin with, and when I try to (like for a surprise) you can read my face completely and know that I am lying. So I'd be terrible on Survivor for that reason. Plus I can't take the cold. Due to low iron I feel the temperature is 10 degrees lower than it actually is. If they would allow the contestants to bring their own clothing items I would be able to bring some rain gear, but they don't and the Survivors are often left out in the rain and cold without sufficient cover.
Amazing Race would be great to travel so much and see all of the different countries, but it's so much stress all of the time-not sure I could do it with my migraines.
Those are the only two I watch.

If you anyone is considering something like the Bachelor, they should watch Unreal on Hulu. It's a drama and exaggerated but I bet it is closer to the truth than what people see on those kinds of shows.
I would be too nervous for most of them. DH has done the test for Jeopardy. I looked over his shoulder once and it was hard! If I knew enough, I'd try something like that but most reality is really unreality to me.
Now, off to watch this week's episode of the British Baking Show...

Reality TV show junkie who never would. The older I get, the more paranoid I am about how easy it is to find out where someone lives! But I'm thankful that there are people who want to be in the limelight, otherwise I would have to watch, well, the news.

I took my daughter to Let's Make a Deal! because she loves Wayne Brady and it was a fun treat for her. I keep trying to get a few friends to do Price is Right with me, and now that they have started filming new episodes, I may go. Just not ready to do something like that in the middle of a pandemic, even with precautions.

For me NO. But anyone remember the pea on the old board that was on WHILE YOU WERE OUT? I used to love watching that show back then. And also Clean Sweep.

Nope. I love the Amazing Race and the travel would be cool but Dh and I joke about being wise enough to not test our marriage with The Amazing Race! I'm just not the type to do any kind of reality show.

Just not ready to do something like that in the middle of a pandemic, even with precautions. Price is Right has a traveling show. Pre-pandemic they have been to my town twice. They run it similar to the TV show without the celebrity host. My family tried out for Family Feud about 35 years ago when they had a casting call in our town. We were up against a well-known wine family, which of course, were chosen. I also know of a local family that was on Home Makeover and the home was so over built there was an issue with re-assessed property taxes that the owners couldn't afford. I've read stories of some of the home renovation shows where the renos were cosmetic and fell apart after the show was over and real life continued.

We did apply for a home reno show. Name escapes me, it was one where they re-do one room in your house. They sent a producer out to interview us and check out the room. We weren't picked, said our room/situation was too unique. It was family room addition put on by the previous owners and three walls were all windows and the fourth was the former exterior of our house.
Beyond that, I can't think of another reality show I would want to apply for.

No game shows. No talk shows. No talent competition type shows. No shows that exploit relationships.
I guess that leaves me with home improvement and cooking. I'd pick a cooking show of the two.
Oh, and I'd do Below Deck just to get a trip on one of those fabulous boats to one of those fabulous locations.

The only one that I would ever consider would be a cooking show, because most of those don't have the drama and bitchiness that most others do, But I am currently watching Junior MasterChef, and even the 10yos on that show are so much ahead of me in skill and talent, I'd have zero chance on the adult one. And I dislike making pastry and using yeast, so The Great Australian Bake Off is out too. My MIL and BIL applied for My Kitchen Rules but didn't get in. That would have been hilarious...... someone would have said something bad about their dish and BIL would have let fly with the F and C bombs, they'd have to beep out every second word! I really really really really want Chip and Jo to come and renovate my house - I adore them. Every other reno show and designer pales into insignificance alongside my JoJo. They could call it "Chip & Jo Downunder". And yes, I have given this idea waaaaaaay too much thought!
