vote different than they do: "A few reasons: -They should be united in voting. The husband makes sure this happens. -If they vote differently, they cancel each other out. -If they vote differently, the husband leaves his wife unprotected. If the husband won’t vote for a guy, why would he let his wife do it?.... In our age of “freeing” women, what we have done is free them to be unprotected. Any man worth his salt should recognize the importance of being out in front on political decisions in order to protect his wife. Brothers, don’t let her vote in such a way that she is left unprotected. Being the leader means you take the brunt of the questions and objections and concerns. " jessesumpter.com/2020/10/30/husband-make-sure-your-wife-votes-exactly-like-you/With America's heaping helping of these religious irrationals, is it any wonder our country is moving backwards while the rest of the developed world moves forward. Imagine what progress we could have made over the last decades without the massive weight of iron age thinking pulling us backwards.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! Honestly we are completely f'ing doomed if we let manly men like this run the world. We'll be back in the dark ages before 2025. That's all I got in response to this stupidity. I also read this to DH and asked him if he fully understood how strongly I would tell him to f*** off if he tried to pull this nonsense on me. He laughed and agrees with me. ( edited to fix my stupid typos because I was so fired up while typing my initial response. )

my ex said the exact same thing, our votes were cancelling out each other's. since i am the one that actually reads more than the headlines, researched candidates and stances on issues, i suggested he should vote like ME to ensure our votes don't cancel each other's out *shrug*.
i told him women fought too hard to obtain the vote for me to hand it back to my husband. we've come a long baby!!

No one LETS anyone do anything at my house!! DH knows that "woe unto the man who tries to tell me what to do."
My mother (who would be 113 years of age if she were alive) once was talking about voting and husbands etc. She said, "I didn't want to vote for XXX but Daddy wanted him SO much that I voted for him." I replied, "Well, you know you could have let him think you did and voted how you wanted when you got in the booth." She looked at me with such a look---I still don't know if she thought, "Wow, she figured it out." OR if she thought, "I can't believe my daughter would lie to her husband." I still regret not asking her what she did in the booth....or if she would have told me.

My house: my husband came home and announced he voted a straight Democratic ticket. (He has this pesky habit of mixing in a Republican or two.)
I scolded him but good for not voting for any Green Party candidates for water reclamation commissioners.
He was properly abashed. I felt like I had left him unprotected. So I led us in a prayer of contrition and then made him go get us Thai food.
That works, right?

My favorite reply to that tweet:
Some safe bets:
1) Your wife has never orgasmed with you 2) You are quite convinced she has 3) Just like when it comes to sex, she lies about who she votes for because she knows you’re too insecure to handle it

Unprotected from what, exactly? From guys who might grab her by the pussy? bawahahahah I know a few couples in their 80's who vote the same, in order to not cancel each other out. Including my parents, it's always been a family joke - because they'll never really know what happened in the booth.

Any guesses which way brother Jesse is voting? Haha yes..... the party that will, ironically, actually leave his wife and many other women across the country unprotected.

I used to tell my husband whom to vote for. It didn’t usually work, but I tried, anyway. I didn’t want him canceling out MY vote.

I wouldn't put it past some of the he-man-women-haters-club types to fill in their ballots for them or watch as they copy Hubby Boss's ballot.

When my dh and I are off doing different things on election day, he will call me and remind me to stop at the polling booth on my way home. He will tell me, "I voted already, so if you want to cancel out my vote, you better get to the polling station on time."

I tried to convince DH to vote for Biden but he never tried to convince me to vote for Trump. A smart man knows how to pick his battles.
A smart woman knows not to marry any man who thinks he needs to do her thinking for her.

Haha! My parents almost always cancelled each other’s vote! Mom grew up in a very Republican family (Grandpa was a grand poobah in local party politics), and Dad was a dyed-in-the-wool Union man who would never dream of voting against a Democrat.
When Dad got home on Election Day, she used to ask him if he had gone to cancel her vote yet LOL.

(But I get it, this isn't inline with the OP) ETA When I say I get it, I mean know what you mean... not arguing. No doubt there are too many macho run households or we never would have gotten to this point.

My dad always told my mom how to vote and I always hoped that when she went into the booth, she voted her mind. I doubt it though.
He tried that with me my first presidential election when I was most informed due to my government class. I said "mmm hmm" and then voted for my preferred candidates. He eventually realized that we were not in the same page politically and thereafter thought it was hilarious to tell people he had to vote to cancel me out.
I did think about this situation when I moved to a vote by mail only state.
Sigh.
