I usually like to give a book as part of my loved ones Christmas gifts (clothes, something fun & something to read).
This year I am stumped. Are you giving a book to someone as a gift? I'm open to suggestions.
I'm looking for: 21yo DS who plays golf & video games and is in college; 28 yo DS who likes to mountain bike and is a fire fighter; 29 yo DIL cooking isn't her strong point & not sure what to give her - last year I gave her a charcuterie board & book. Maybe a gratitude journal?
I am open to any and all suggestions.
Thank!

I like coffee table style books.
Road Trips in USA. Places to visit in the world. Best Beaches. Backroads and trails etc...
For the one who Golfs, you could find a book about golf courses throughout the world. Best places to mountain bike in the USA, the world, etc... I've seen some "fill in the blanks" bucket list type books. This would be a fun book to have, throughout the years it could be added to, list checked off, etc...

We give books every year but we are all readers - what about best selling novels or current events? Would your DIL like Becoming? It was excellent. For the guys what about Into the Wild?
ETA - what about a book on the national parks / a travel guide for visiting? I use mine a ton.

My 28 yr old dd is a librarian, so I started to give her a classic book every yr about 5 yrs ago. Ones I've given in the past are Great expectations, pride and prejudice, Handmaids Tale, The call of the wild.

I would think all kids would like those.

I like the idea of the bucket list type book. They both love to travel (pre-COVID) For travel lovers, I would recommend looking at author Bill Bryson. He is a great writer!! I don't care for Bill Bryson. I read one(didn't make past chapter two) of his books and thought it was one of the worst books I've ever read. But, because he was so recommended by other readers, I gave it a second chance......tried another of his books, same thing...hated it, didn't make it past chapter two. Reading is subjective. What one loves, another may not. To each, their own. Glad you enjoy his books.

What does your DIL like? Cooking isn’t my strong point either, but I have a hundred other things I’m interested in.

For your sons, I'd recommend one of John McPhee's books. Excellent non-fiction books that really delve into a topic. The Control of Nature, Assembling California, Annals of the Former World, La Place de la Concorde Suisse, Encounters with the Archdruid: Narratives About a Conservationist and Three of His Natural Enemies are all great reads.

21yo DS who plays golf & video games If he plans on playing Cyberpunk 2077, the game of 2020 that is about to be released, definitely consider The World of Cyberpunk 2077 that has been getting rave reviews. 29 yo DIL cooking isn't her strong point & not sure what to give her Jamie's Food Revolution by Jamie Oliver walks the readers through basic recipes and techniques. A great gift for the culinary challenged! Many photos on each step to get you through the recipe. I have given this several times to new home cooks who have all loved it. All meals of the day are covered, too. This one is all about building confidence in the kitchen when you feel like a novice.

For the one who golfs, The Inner Game of Golf could be a good choice.
