www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/10/08/magazine/eaters-all-over.html?_r=1This is very interesting and the pictures are nice too. It shows children all around the world and what they eat. What do your kids eat for breakfast? Mine is out of the house. All grown at 28. Since I had bariatric surgery, I've taken a liking to greek yogurt. That's what I eat. Or a cheese stick.

My DD loves scrambled eggs and fixes them herself. She also favors toast with Nutella.
DS like Poptarts. Even though I've tried making them from scratch, he only likes the chocolate chip ones from a box.
On the weekends I'll make muffins or scones and he'll eat those. After he's had his Poptarts.

DD has porridge in winter and toast in summer as a rule. We like leftovers here as well. Today we had left over roast pork for breakfast.

DS likes a couple slices of toast with cinnamon, or a bagel and cream cheese, or a homemade muffin. During the week he doesn't really eat much in the morning. On the weekends he likes a big breakfast of waffles and syrup or french toast or pancakes.
DD likes a bowl of cheerios with milk and banana. She'll often eat leftovers from dinner.
Both my kids are very opinionated about breakfast foods. Neither one likes the taste of eggs. Meanwhile my DH makes 2 eggs every single morning for his breakfast.

Weekdays mine always ate either cold cereal or instant oatmeal. We had eggs on Saturday mornings.
They are grown now and all three eat a very healthy breakfast, mostly eggs. I eat eggs most mornings too.

It varies. Instant breakfast, cinnamon toast, scrambled eggs, peanut butter toast, and cereal are in the rotation.

15 yr old dd usually has a bagel w/ butter or cream cheese or a bowl of Rice Krispies cereal on school days. On weekends she loves leftovers or breakfast burritos. If I make a big breakfast she likes fried potatoes w/ red/green peppers and onions and chorizo and eggs. She usually doesn't like eggs but will eat them in a burrito or w/ chorizo.
Camping she has waffles, cereal or leftovers.

I live in Norway, and for us the standard breakfast is a slice of wholemeal bread (not toasted)topped with cheese, jam, cold cuts etc. Every morning I slice up enough slices for breakfast and lunch, put the spread on them (today was strawberry jam), give one slice to each DD for their breakfast and I fix the other slices of bread for sandwiches for their school lunch. I also include yoghurt and fruit in their lunchbox. On the weekends we go a little bit luxurious and opt for bread with Nugatti (sort of like Nutella)on Saturdays, and some kind of egg on Sundays (scrambled, hard boiled or sunny side up). I think the Swedish and the Danish people are very similar to us with the open sandwiches. Swedish children get a hot lunch at school though, something I think we could benefit from in Norway. We eat a lot of bread with toppings during one day

Since my son's meds make him not hungry during the day, I let him eat whatever he wants in the morning. As long as he gets something with protein in the AM I'm good with it. This morning he had left over chili and oreos. Yesterday it was a PBJ and string cheese. He is very random.

Both my kids get their own breakfast. DD alternates between fruit smoothies, scrambled eggs and pancakes. DS has a bowl or 2 of Cheerios, banana and a yogurt. He'll eat scrambled eggs or pancakes if someone makes it for him.

On weekdays, he either eats a granola bar and smoothie or scrambled eggs with bacon - the former if we are crunched for time, the latter if I have a bit of extra time. On weekends I try and make pancakes, or we just have eggs/bacon/toast.

Weekdays it's typically either yogurt & fruit, cereal & fruit, or eggs & toast. On weekends, when we have more time, it could be anything...pancakes, breakfast casseroles, french toast, waffles, omelets, quiche, you name it, we'll try it.

I eat greek yoghurt or eggs (poached or omelet with onions/cheese/tomatoes or scrambled with cheese or sauteed squash/onions). I grew up with either fried eggs/bacon/sausage/fried bread or softboiled eggs with toast soldiers or nutella on crispbread (depending on whether Dad cooked, mum cooked or I was getting my own)
Annabelle (8) usually has frozen waffles with butter/syrup or 'grownup eggs' (fried eggs) or cold cereal (no milk)
Cathleen (14) sometimes has the waffles with lemon juice/sugar but more often has toast with butter/jam or scrambled eggs or yoghurt (not Greek)
Simon (23) usually has Greek yoghurt but sometimes will have eggs with me - he'll add toast to his.
DH usually skips breakfast

DS (6) has Greek yogurt, a piece of fruit, and some cashews or almonds most days. He says it does the best job of keeping him full until lunch at school, so he likes to stick to pretty much the same thing, just varying the kind of fruit depending on what we have on hand.

Mine range from twelve to two. The twelve-year-old doesn't like breakfast and I am lucky if I can get her to eat a granola bar or a banana. The eight-year-old usually eats a bagel and an orange. One four-year-old eats a small yoghurt and a slice of bread. The other one eats a slice of bread and eggs. The two-year-old usually eats half an orange, a yoghurt, and half a bagel. There is some variance, and I'll often make them pancakes or bacon, but that is what they usually want.

My 11yo ds eats a bowl of cereal with milk, 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, a waffle, a banana, a glass of milk pretty much every morning. Yet, he is small for his age.
My 18yo dd eats anything she can grab quickly, usually a hard boiled egg and a waffle. But, she'll grab almost anything.

My girls eat cut fruit plus toast (PB or cinnamon), English muffin or scrambled eggs. I often make bran muffins that they'll eat instead if toast if there are enough. youger dd likes oatmeal as well. Many days she doesn't eat lunch because she's still full from breakfast. She prefers a light snack in the afternoon instead.

What an interesting article and I loved the photos! Mine is 25 and away at college living at the dorm-I have no idea what he eats for breakfast anymore.
Me-I always hated breakfast. I can't eat when I first get up and I'm not a morning person. I have to be up at least an hour or so before I can eat. When I started "Forks over Knives" it was whole grain bread toast with peanut butter and bananas, but I quickly gained 5 pounds doing that for 3 months. I was craving eggs like crazy so I switched to eggs on whole grain toast-nothing else, no butter or anything like that, plus coffee. Yeah, I know. It's not 100% vegan, but that's my only cheat. I buy the organic, free range ones at Whole Foods since I'm not supposed to be eating eggs in the first place, I might as well get the healthiest ones I can.

DD(6) has either a bowl of cereal (Cheerios typically), instant oatmeal, a waffle, or toast. Whatever she chooses is followed by a string cheese.
