I've been printing black and white cards for PL at home, I use a very heavyweight smooth white cardstock from Papertrey Ink. Instead of a bold black things are kind of a dark charcoal grey. Should I be using a lighterweight paper? The paper is a very nice white but like I said, it's super heavy. Could it be absorbing too much of the ink? Or are my expectations just unrealistic for at home printing? I use a Brother inkjet printer, nothing amazing but also not complete garbage.

I would recommend using a paper made by your printer manufacturer. I have an Epson and I use Epson premium presentation paper matte and the prints are so amazingly vivid! I'm sure Canon or Epson paper would work well with your Brother too, but from what I understand, Epson paper is specifically manufactured to work with Epson inks, so if Brother makes paper, I would try that first. My printer doesn't do well with any thick cardstock, so I use a thinner version of the Epson paper (the ultra premium presentation paper matte is quite thick), but if you're already printing on Papertrey cardstock, I would think you wouldn't have any problems with a thicker printer paper!

I've been happy with both the Neenah 80 weight (not Index), and Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte..

I bought this one from walmart to try as a duplicate for Neenah 80lb. www.walmart.com/ip/Pen-Gear-White-Premium-Card-Stock-8-5-x-11-110-lb-150-Sheets/624185822*doubt it would be okay for copics as I have yet to try it. So far I have used it and good results with: Printed journaling Print and cuts on cameo Printed NJ911 embellishments Everything has printed really well - I just make sure to change my paper source settings in each computer program to peint high resolution and pick a paper category like presentation paper.

I've been happy with both the Neenah 80 weight (not Index), and Epson Premium Presentation Paper Matte.. Same for me, I use both the Classic Crest Neenah (80 lb) and bright white (65 lb) and the Epson paper and they all work great. You can sometimes find the Epson paper on sale but unfortunately not very often.
