My husband loves it; I hate it. He loves the music and the graphics.

It is creative, out of the ordinary, the music is fantastic (Danny Elfman is a genius), the animation and coloring is great, and it is creepy-which is perfect for Halloween! My very favorite is when Disney decks the Haunted House out Nightmare Before Christmas Style at Halloween!
That said, I can totally see how it would not be someone’s cup of tea. I love it, but, I have no desire to see any of the other Tim Burton films. Nightmare Before Christmas stands alone for me.

Would you like a list alphabetically or by reason of importance on why you are wrong and this is the best movie ever made Just kidding, either you like it or you don’t. Just like any other movie. Personally I love every single thing about it. I love stop motion animation in general principle, I love Danny Elfman in gp as well. I love Halloween and dark humor. This movie has some amazing morbid jokes, I think when Tim Burton is good we get amazing movies like Nightmare or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Edward Scissorhands, when he is bad we get Batman with Michael Keaton or Alice in Wonderland. This is my very favorite movie and I could literally list dozens of reasons why. I could alternately give you dozens of reasons why I would rather give up watching movies altogether rather then sit through Forrest Gump again. People like what they like.

I happen to ADORE Danny Elfman and I just really like the music to it- the deluxe soundtrack has remakes of some of the songs by popular artists too. The movie itself is ok. I'll watch it if it's on but I don't go out of my way to watch it. My favorite character is Oogie Boogie.
My 4 year old LOVES to watch it. I think it's because it's just scary enough but not over the top.
BUT I don't love Sally. I think she's lame.
I do NOT love Tim Burton and don't really watch his movies.

For me it is the music, it is so creative, catchy and smart. Stop motion isn't my favorite, nor the creepy vibe, but the music brings it all together and makes it enjoyable as a whole.

Do you have Disney+? If so, I highly recommend watching the Nightmare Before Christmas episode of Prop Culture.
Also, I recently saw this youtube video that covers why the effects of this movie are so impressive.

We love it! We are actually watching it right now with our kids. They are 9, 7, 4, and 2. Somehow this is their first time seeing it. It's dh's favorite!

I love it too, but I love almost all good animation especially stop motion. The music is good, the characters are just creepy enough for kids but also funny. My favorite is Jack’s ghost dog Zero, he was really underutilized and should have gotten more screen time. DD loves it as much as I do. DH is not a fan though.
LOL for me it’s a good reminder that when you’re really good at something, sometimes it’s best if you just stay in your lane and don’t try to do all the things. Jack is great at being the Pumpkin King, but he fails miserably when he tries to do what Santa is good at. Embrace what you’re best at and rock the hell out of that.

I saw it twice in the theater when it came out. It's wonderful. I've never heard of anyone who doesn't like it, honestly, but everyone is different i guess.
For me it's the animation and the music. I love Tim Burton creepiness. He's had a couple of misses for me but generally he's the best.

I hate Tim Burton (and Helen Bonham Carter too) and I have never gotten the appeal of this movie. I forgot TB was involved, so that's probably why it makes sense why I am not a fan of this movie.

I love love love this movie. I even have a Nightmare Before Christmas mask and so many people have commented on it and told me how much they love the movie. I am a Tim Burton fan and I think this is really him at his best. It's a little subversive and twisted but I love that about it. it's definitely gaining more in popularity over the years.

Just wanted to bump this thread for Skellinton that in the newest Costco Connection magazine that just came I saw in the book section that they will be carrying a Nightmare Before Christmas pop up book! Says it will be in stores in early November. I love pop ups almost as much as animation, being that I’m still a total paper craft geek.

I did get a pop up Advent Calendar book from Target, wonder if this is the same?

I’ve actually never seen it! I don’t have Disney plus. Is it something that ever comes on other channels?

My students talked me into watching this. I wasn't impressed at all and can't figure out why not only does it have staying power, but that it has such a following. Can someone explain the appeal? Don't say that around my family! My dd is obsessed with it. She has an entire tree decorated with the ornaments, she has the whole village from the Bradford Exchange. She has a violin that was painted with the characters and sits on display. She has this and that and everything in between. We went to the MOMA when Tim Burton's art was on display. She is a die hard Tim Burton fan as well.

For those that are shuddering, the stuff we have displayed is nice stuff. Framed art from France and Belgium, nice pieces from Disney gallery, a beautiful cuckoo clock , nice figurines, etc. We have all sorts of stuff in storage, but the grown up looking stuff is out. One of our coolest things are some marionettes. In storage my favorite is a cardboard play house for little kids from when the movie came out. I would have loved to see the stuff at MOMA. We were going to try to see the show at the Hollywood Bowl this year, buy obviously that didn’t happen. I would love to see a pic of the violin.
