I'm planning on making some cards using this cookie alphabet stamp and although I own a dye-based tan ink, when I use water-based mediums (like Nuvo drops) to embellish the letters, the ink runs, so I need to find a tan colored waterproof ink. There are several I've been able to find online, but I find that online pictures of the outer ink pad aren't always true to the ink color, so I thought I'd see if any Pea owns a waterproof inkpad in a similar color to the one used on the alphabets in the picture. I want an ink that looks like the color of sugar cookies. Thank you to anyone who can help!

I can't help you with your request but I'm just here to say that's a hella cute holiday card idea! Love the embossed rack underneath the cookies.

Gina K has an amalgam hybrid ink in a light brown called Skeleton Leaves. I have the Whisper and it's really light. I use it for no-line coloring.
In case you don't know, amalgam is a hybrid you can use for watercolor or alcohol inks.

I would definitely choose a Ranger Archival ink. I use it with water all of the time. Love these inks so much I have the large and small ink pads. Look at Pebble Beach color or Pale Ochre.

I was looking at the different amalgam inks but there were a couple different browns and I want to make sure I get the right shade.

Glad to find another Archival ink fan...I feel like it's an inkpad that doesn't get a lot of attention! I've been using black Archival ink since I started stamping and it's definitely my fave. If you own them, which of the two shades you mentioned do you think are more similar to the shade used on the cookies?

Isn't it?! Glad you enjoyed it! I'm going to say "oh what fun" with mine! Did you order the dies for the alphabet? I got enabled by your post and my order came today with the dies and I'm more than a little ticked that they are solid. The photo on their site shows them open. (And they don't allow returns, so this will be fun!) Just wondering.

That stinks that they're solid, because it makes lining them up harder. I'd be ticked too! Last year on Black Friday, I placed an order at The Stamp Market and noticed some of the dies that I received were made of a new, thinner metal (which I wasn't too happy about). I haven't ordered anything from TSM since, but I wonder if they changed die manufacturers and had to change the design of the alphabet dies? Even if that's the case, that should have been made clear on the product page. I wonder what they'd say if you reached out to them with your issue. Sorry the enabling hasn't had a happy ending so far!

And for $25 I would definitely request some resolution from them. wendifful, I love the hero arts shadow inks. Soft sand might be a good match for you!

Thanks for validating me! I did email them about it and mentioned that they were unusable to me and that the product page didn't mention or show them being solid. I'll let you know how and if they respond!

I ended up ordering a Scrapbook.com hybrid ink pad in "Sugar Cookie" (how perfect!). Of course, now I think I've changed my mind and I'm going to emboss the letters...so all that time spent deciding on an ink pad was wasted! And of course, some other things jumped in my cart from Scrapbook.com...

I got enabled by your post and my order came today with the dies and I'm more than a little ticked that they are solid. Same with their recent butterfly and leaf stamps - the solid makes it impossible to line up. So I did what Jennifer McGuire recommends - die cut first, stamp second: - die cut shapes from slightly larger piece of cardstock - you could die cut lots of letters at once - anchor/tape the silhouette part of the cardstock in your stamp platform - put the shapes back in, like a puzzle - line up stamps on the shapes; close door of stamp platform - now, even tho the shapes lift up with the stamps, you can just puzzle-piece them back into the anchored silhouette and stamp accurately. I had great success with my butterflies this way (hello, antennae not cut off!)

Thanks for this - I've also done it and have a scan n cut so they aren't technically "unusable", I'm just irritated about the substitution!
It also makes it harder to do an inlay cad like the ones shown by the enabler!

Well, good news! I got the open dies in the mail today. Contacted them on their website with the "contact me" button and got crickets! Contacted them via email and got the replacement dies! Nothing else in the envelope but the dies, so that's weird.

They said that both open and closed had been made and the closed must have "gotten mixed up into the open", but that they would be happy to send me a replacement. Very strange! No apologies, just new dies.
