Have you ever felt like this? I was just thinking about this, this afternoon. I'm home with a cold. I work in healthcare, so I had to be COVID tested, and can't go back to work til it comes back, which it did today. Being I'm a healthcare worked it was fast tracked. But I was hoping it would take longer, because I feel so tired with this cold.
I've complained about being tired every.single.physical. my whole life. My dr's are always concerned, but nothing ever really fixes it. I was very low in Vit D, and that helped my muscle cramps. Do I sleep well? no. not at all. I'm 55. I don't sleep well, but havn't for about 30 yrs. I'm a light sleeper. I hear everything, so I sleep with a fan. I DO sleep better if I have a drink before bed, but i can't do that every night! I don't do well with med's, I wake up in a fog, and it takes til about noon for them to wear off. The last 5 yrs going in to menopause I was anemic, but that's done now also. And I'm still soooo tired. Is it just me?

Yep. There was a point in time where I was just praying for one damn minute where I wasn't tired, where I could just "be", where I could just breathe. One minute is all I wanted. I would cry begging for just one minute.
I hope you find some relief, nothing is more frustrating that feeling bad and the doctor cannot help.

That does sound concerning. I’m 47 and never really feel “tired” though I do sometimes feel lazy! How is your nutrition and exercise? The most lazy I ever feel is when I am trying to eat very low carb...

Thyroid maybe, and know that normal ranges do not equal optimal I had a really really good Dr, she retired last yr, but she ran every test there was. Thyroid was good.

My fatigue is also part of my other diseases, but there will never a moment in my life that I don't feel tired. It's an unfortunate fact. In your case, I would talk to your doctor and perhaps request a consult w/a rheumatologist. It could be many things and if I was in your shoes I'd get a referral to a great rheumatologist.

So when I am eating strict Whole30 I sleep like a baby. Out when my head hits the pillow till my alarm goes off. It's hard to stay strict, but the sleep factor is huge for me.

My diet is ok. We eat just typical food. Nothing really healthy, but nothing really bad either. We usually eat better in the summer, Lots of fresh fruit and veggies. For dinners usually I will do a protein and a veggie. Like chicken legs and roasted broccoli. Or like this wkend, it was ribs and baked potato. I do tend to snack a bit too much once home. and I could lose some wt, but I've been this wt for awhile.
Exercise. I do not do any extra exercise, being that is what I do all day. I'm a PTA at a hospital. So I am literally walking or exercising with someone all day long. I am just too tired to do anything more when I get home. Esp now with the time change. It's pitch dark by the time I get home. I know I should do more.

I also get at least a full 9 hours of sleep every night. Seems like a lot but if I try to get less I do feel tired.

I have to work hard to feel good and I’m not always up to doing what it takes. Very little sugar, a very healthy diet, plenty of water, good sleep hygiene, no caffeine or alcohol, and just the right amount of exercise because if it’s too much I’m fatigued and if it’s not enough I don’t sleep well. It’s a lot of work. Sometimes I just want to not think about it and just enjoy a day or two or three with coffee, cake, Doritos, and a margarita. And then I’m back to feeling sluggish. I’ve never been a high energy person. All tests have always come back normal.

That is a bummer. Could you happen to have sleep apnea? That is how many of those with it describe their life. Hope you can find a remedy for this feeling as that's not a good one to have. Or maybe a wee bit of depression?

Have they checked your B-12?

No. No sleep apnea, Don't snore.
I did have mono when I was in my 20s. It seems like, looking back, that's when it all started. That deep tiredness.
My mom's side of the family has a history of depression, so I try to be aware of this. I've had it in the past, but don't feel like I do right now, or anymore.
About 5 yrs ago I completely cut out pop/soda, and coffee. I used to drink a big sugery coffee drink all Am, and then 2 pops during the day. Now I don't do any of that. I maybe have a pop 2xs a month. I did it mainly to cut out the sugar and caffeine.

This me. Except I’m too tired to work. I should return to work, but I’m too tired! I don’t have the energy for a job! I just turned 56 and feel 86 at times! I had MONO in 2005 and 2007. I’ve been tired ever since. I’m a licensed mental health therapist, but stopped working a few years ago because it was simply too taxing. I could lay in bed all day, easily. Reading, napping, watching tv... Sleep issues since mono too!

Everything she said. I have 3 autoimmune disorders and one of them has a symptom of fatigue. I've had this AID for 15 years... and the older I get, the more tired I feel. I'm also obese so I know that also contributes. I'm also a light sleeper and don't sleep well. I have 3-4 bad nights of sleep, then 1 hours night because I'm so exhausted. Then 3-4 bad nights before another 1 good night. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I exist in a constant state of tired. I am 54. I eat very well. I am active and exercise consistently and am a bit on the underweight side. I try to sleep 8 hours (although sometimes I wake up for a bit in the middle of the night, or lately it’s been an hour or so before my alarm). I have an autoimmune disease where fatigue is just normal. If I become still for a few minutes, I will fall asleep. I literally cannot sit down on the couch during the day or I’ll be asleep within minutes. It’s awful. I don’t know what it would feel like to not be tired. I just live with it.

I tell people all the time, "I've been tired since I turned 16 years old." I never get past it. Doesn't matter how much sleep I get - I'm still tired. I'm pretty sure a portion of my problem at least at this stage is sleep apnea, but I haven't made arrangements with my physician to do the sleep study. It's a horrible cycle of long days and short nights. I still have hope though. Almost every weekend I think, "Okay, I can get a couple of extra hours and feel maybe human again this weekend." Never happens. Thyroid is fine. No vitamin deficiency. No anemia. Just. Plain. Tired.

I’m a light sleeper too and it is very frustrating.

I hear y’all. I’m 63, a bit overweight. Quit smoking a year ago. Exercise at the gym three times a week, ride my horse three times a week. My diet is decent,, all tests normal. I sleep well, and even if I get 8-9 hours, I can still take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.

I'm usually tired and something always hurts. I probably have fibromyalgia but I'd rather continue to do whatever I can to remain active rather than give in. I bounce around from healthy eating to unhealthy, so i can't really blame diet because nothing changes. I exercise routinely and have a trainer I meet with once a week.
I sleep whenever possible, since i work 3 12hr night shifts per week and am often sleep deprived. I try to limit the ibuprofen i take but I'm so tired of hurting. Still, i just keep going because it beats the alternative for me. And i really enjoy getting outside and being active in nature, that's very healing for me.
All that rambling aside, i use Ambien to sleep at night when I'm home so i can say least get some good sleep. I also usually spend a day recovering on the couch. I'm 48 and probably too old for long night shifts! But the pay is good.

That is very true, and certainly a possibility. Unfortunately I have shitty insurance, and don't think I can afford one. This is what I was going to say too. If you are going through life feeling that tired all the time, can you afford NOT to? It would be worth contacting your insurance company just to see what it would actually cost, I think now some places let you do the test at home where the cost might be less. On the flip side of that coin, what would feeling really good and being fully rested on a regular basis be worth to you? Getting a CPAP has been truly life changing for DH and all of his friends who have one.

I try to use ice and heat, but my go to med when hurting is definitely ibro.
