Interesting thought: Trump has had more people vote AGAINST him than anyone else in presidential election history.

How early is it dark come mid-December? Depressingly early, I'm guessing. My city is butted up next to the mountains, so once the sun passes, it is like lights out! Technically, sundown is 4:41 on December 22nd (the shortest day). It starts getting dark about 30 minutes prior to that here. It also depends where your town is located. If you are close to a time zone change, you get more sun. You can also stand on a hill by my house and see that the rest of the city east of the mountains gets sun longer. I wouldn't mind the dusk so early, but we also have a fair amount of big ass creatures that come out hunting at dusk. Oh yeah, it's a whole different story once you enter the mountains but I'm always shocked when I see how early it gets dark more up north from where I am because I find the lack of sunlight during autumn already incredibly depressing here on the Northern Mediterranean shore. I was definitely not born in (otherwise beautiful) Lapland in a previous life!

I am blown away at you, and many of our other international peas stick-to-it-ness while waiting this out with us. Cheapest Netflix sub ever with all the free drama! (just kidding but also, so. much. drama. and. tension)

In front of the elections dept of Maricopa County right now (illustrating @dottyscrapper 's point): The cognitive dissonance. I just can't. "Stop the count!" yesterday and now "Count our votes!" How do they deal with constant whiplash like that? Edited: Can't find the right video of the moment on NBC News yesterday when the armed protestors showed up at Maricopa County. Sorry. But it happened live with Gadi Schwartz as I was watching the stream. Holy CRAP!! This is in Arizona?? In the USA?? I cannot believe the state of this country. I hope Mr. Trump is so very proud of the job he as done! In case you can't tell that statement is dripping in sarcasm!!

Vox populi, indeed. Hosanna. All of Gaul may still be divided into three two parts, but one part has spoken. I totally want to be you when I grow up. *big fluffy hearts* Well, okay, but that means staying in your pajamas for three days during an election and eating soup (yes, soup; you read right) for breakfast two days in a row. In bed. Complete with oyster cracker crumbs. Mr. Trump ain’t the only one who’s reverted to childhood. Thanks.

So, I picked up one bottle of Prosecco at TJs on Monday afternoon and drank on it all day Tuesday. I have to run up today and get an olive charcuterie board they are holding for me. Seems like I might need to pick up another bottle or TWO!! I am away from all this posting until later this afternoon. Don't let anything happen without me! Well, maybe it should. No need to hold up democracy any longer! I picked up a bottle of Prosecco there, too! Tonight, maybe?? Fingers crossed

But June 21st, we get sunrise at 5:04 AM and setting at 10:07PM for just over 17 hours of sunlight.

Is anyone else as smitten with Steve Kornaki as I am? He's the numbers guy on msnbc. They finally had to make him go get some sleep. He's been up for days. He really loves his job.

I know this post was 11 pages back, but I'm still catching up on what has been happening while I slept. I thought it was only us down under upside down back to front Australians for whom red = left and blue = right. I'm glad to hear that we're not alone, and that it's actually the Americans who are the outliers once again (think: metric)!! Not to mention that in Australia the liberals are right wing. Although I think the American liberal=left wing makes more sense! I was saying to a friend yesterday that I never call the Liberal party by that name, I always say the Coalition. It's such a misnomer, and it makes me irrationally angry that the conservative right party in Australia is called the Liberal Party. WRONG! They should be forced to change their name!

Is anyone else as smitten with Steve Kornaki as I am? He's the numbers guy on msnbc. They finally had to make him go get some sleep. He's been up for days. He really loves his job. On election night, I loved when he was so into his magic map that he’d have to ask if he was on camera. When he was doing the absolute minimum of his formidable skill set, which was quickly clicking on different states on the map in preparation for his barrage of numbers, I wondered more than once whether our current president could locate the states like that...

Chris Christie was governor of New Jersey until 2018. He has been a talking head since then. He flip flops back and forth between supporting and being critical of Trump. It wouldn’t be news for him to speak out and I wouldn’t be surprised if he did. Rick Santorum, who was a Republican Senator of Pennsylvania, has also been a talking head on CNN for years now. He is usually a staunch supporter and has been critical of last night’s “speech”/tantrum. That was more of a surprise and happened last night. Neither would be as newsworthy as a currently sitting Republican Senator or House Representative speaking out against Trump’s behavior. Mitt Romney? I really think that it was Roy Blunt, as I mentioned upthread. They talked about it on CNN right before the question was asked. And all on CNN discussed how noteworthy it was that he came out and publicly chastised Trump. Mitt Romney is the only sitting GOP senator who has consistently criticized Trump and taken grief about it for years, so that wouldn’t have been a surprise.
