Uh-huh, didn't these people have a shindig at the WH this past Tuesday? They were probably spreading the virus all over each other. Supposedly he was in the residence with the trump family on election night.

65 pages. Is this a record ? The Scrapbooking part of this community has a 930 page thread. This thread is just a baby Yoda compared to that one! But for number of pages in 3 days, it might be a winner. Eeegads. I’m an idiot. I do the word game threads every. day. 547 pages. 🤪 These stressful times must be getting to me more than I realize. Thanks for relying.

Can someone let me know how both Georgia senators are up for election/re-election in the same election cycle? I don’t know of any states in which that occurs besides Georgia. So, I am assuming that someone died in office or some other incident that caused a tenure to be cut short. And then, how is it decided which Republicans go up against which Democrats? Not to mention where all the other candidates fall out. Since there are no districts, like there are for Representatives, how is it divided up when they are all running during the same cycle? Isakson left due to Parkinson's.

I’m surprised he still has any allies left to signal to at this point. The Proud Boys, the KKK, American Freedom Party, American Identity Movement, Patriot Front, The Base, American Nazi Party, all the various armed-to-the-teeth yahoo militias across the country, fill-in-your-favorite-hate-group-name... I'd like live cameras ad they drag his ass out

One of the two Senators resigned due to illness within an unexpired term so special election. The other is on regular rotation.

It doesn’t seem like it is in the best interest of either party to have both seats up at once. It sounds like this is a one off?

The Purdue / Ossoff race is the one that was scheduled to occur in 2020. The other is a special election that was created when Senator Johnny Isakson had to resign for health reasons at the end of 2019. Kelly Loeffler was temporarily appointed to his position until the next election, which happened to coincide with the other scheduled race. The winner of this election will not serve a normal 6 year term, but only the remaining 2 years of Sen Isakson's term. Getting them back to the normal schedule. All candidates that file, are eligible so there were 21 people running for this seat, from various parties. Since no one got 50%, the top two go for the runoff.

In Arizona, though he was elected on Election Day, Mark Kelly’s election was actually a special election to replace John McCain. He will actually be finishing that term, not starting a brand new one. So, to that end, but Arizona law, he’ll actually take office this month and not in January. I wonder if the same is true for the Georgia seat that is specially elected.

State law in GA if the neither candidate gets a simple majority, it goes to a run off. Top two go to run off.

But how was it decided that Perdue (R) went against Ossoff (D) and that Loeffler (R) went up against Warnock (D) (and the whole other crew)? Why didn’t Warnock go up against Perdue and Loeffler against Ossoff? It isn’t really important, but more a curiosity question. How did the parties decide on the specific pairings? Why/how was Ossoff cursed with only 1 major opponent, making it harder to knock down his opponent’s 50% of the vote requirement, while Warnock and Loeffler had a bazillion opponents, almost guaranteeing that there would be a run off?

For normal races, you compete against all of your party's challengers, in something called "the Primary" . Ossoff was the Democrat winner in June. I know that was several years ago this year. The other one, like I said, anyone could file for it. No primary needed, so a lot of people signed up.

He seemed so sincere, and very coherent - pushing hard to bring the country together, what a welcome change! I hope he can sleep tonight, he must be completely exhausted. Yeah. Together. Quite a rhetorical difference from a president who regularly refers to half the country as radicals and extremists, parses Covid deaths according to the “color” of the state, extols protesters to “liberate” states from public health rules set up by Democratic governors, cheerleads citizens who surround and stop an opponent’s campaign bus, and incites protests of state election facilities. And that’s just the last few months...

Thanks for those links, Elaine. I turned off CNN for the afternoon because I just needed a break. I listened to music and cleaned/organized all the drawers in my kitchen. LOL I have a bad attitude about my state sometimes. We re elected our governor Tuesday, and I am not happy about that either. I can completely empathize with this.

I truly don’t understand how people can watch him speak and really listen, and buy into dementia narrative still. I saw someone who did earlier. Like, at this point, you’re just willfully being blind and biased.

Like, at this point, you’re just willfully being blind and biased. Especially since they don’t see anything wrong with Trump. That is the part I really don’t get. Trump can barely string together a coherent sentence, let alone keep one train thought going for more then 10 words. He can’t read, mispronounces words all the time, he can’t spell and he rarely uses proper punctuation. Yet people claim Biden has cognitive issues.

There’s an app called Front Pages that you can pull front pages of newspapers from around the world. I’m pulling some for my project life pages-but they are interesting to look at even if you don’t scrapbook them. Oh wow, thanks so much for posting this! It's exactly what I need for my PL as well. I didn't know it existed. I am also curious to see how the election is been reported around the world.

He’s not Obama, but that’s perfectly ok. I like hearing him speak already. I used to cringe, turn it off or leave the room whenever I heard Trump speak. Will not be missed for so many reasons, that being just one of them.

Uh-huh, didn't these people have a shindig at the WH this past Tuesday? They were probably spreading the virus all over each other. lizacreates ....YUP! cut and pasted from today's " New York Times" : On Tuesday night, Mr. Meadows was at Mr. Trump’s election party at the White House, which featured several hundred people gathered in the East Room for several hours, many of them not wearing masks as they mingled while watching the election returns.
The president’s chief of staff was also in contact with a coterie of aides earlier in the day at the Trump campaign headquarters in Virginia, crammed into a tight space, where he was not wearing a mask as the president greeted campaign workers. During the pandemic, Mr. Meadows has encouraged Mr. Trump’s desire to minimize the threat of the virus and focus instead on the economy. He was dismissive of mask-wearing in the White House, and wore one only very sporadically as he traveled with the president or during events in the Oval Office.
Like Mr. Trump, Mr. Meadows often mocked reporters who wore masks around him, saying the face coverings muffled their voices. A video clip of Mr. Meadows refusing to give a statement to reporters at the Capitol because they asked him to wear his mask was widely shared across social media. He has also been among the West Wing officials who have favored minimizing the public appearances of Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, who has issued far more dire warnings about the threat of the virus than Mr. Trump has wanted to have publicly declared.
--------------------- (my comment:) Ohhh....so THAT explains why my cheeto-loving sister told our Dad that "Fauci made mistakes"....annnnd, she insists that our 89-year-old Dad is perfectly safe to travel. Annnd, she wonders why I am furious with her !!!!!!!!!!!!!
