There is no doubt that the black community and black women in particular are the reason Biden is president. I hope we ( as white women) continue to remember this and support them in taking positions of power. I hope we remember to listen to them and learn from them. I hope we can follow their lead and support them instead of expecting their support. Quite frankly, white women continue to disappoint me (said as a white woman). There is a NY Times article about a study that is investigating the correlation between QAnon and polling errors. I saw it, because Mike Duncan who has made a name for himself via his extremely popular Revolutions podcast series, said that he would not be surprised if this was the story of this election, especially with white woman. I saw that particular tweet because someone else had made association between what is happening now and the Russian Revolution and the Marxist revolutionaries which represented the rural worker and Lenin and the Bolsheviks who represented the urban worker and recommended the Revolutions podcast. While I have not listened to them, DH has been listening to them since his original Roman Empire series. We think our circumstances are unique, but the world has done all of this before, and when people say, those that fail to heed history... we are still neck deep in this. Biden winning is only the first battle, and with those 70 million other voters out there, what happens next may be more predictive of this country's future than what happened on Tuesday. Someone else doing some early research into the demographics and while the story has been the black voter, and while that is certainly true in Georgia. In other places, like Milwaukee the Biden vote came from the white, suburban moms who did repudiate Trump, while black voter turnout was actually less. If it is inappropriate to paint black voters as a monolith, and Latino voters as a monolith, it is also inappropriate to treat white woman as a monolith. This election, there was a definite divergence, and if it is not acknowledged the solution of railing on white women will potentially alienate allies and do nothing to disrupt this extremely dangerous movement. www.nytimes.com/2020/11/06/technology/study-considers-a-link-between-qanon-and-polling-errors.html

Stacey Abrams is absolutely the reason for this win in Georgia! I hope we see much, much more of her on a national level. Agree. I love her story in relationship to my personal belief that the voice of one can create massive change to become the voice of many.

Congratulations everyone. This is the most exciting news. Hopefully his frivolous lawsuits will keep him busy so that he can't do any further damage between now and January.

I canβt help but think of Compwalla and how thrilled she must be. I have missed having her astute and pithy thoughts here to keep us on our toes. Cheers to you, Compwalla. I hope weβre making you proud!

So incredibly happy but the rest of my family is about to have a meltdown! lol! They are saying itβs not over, the Dems cheated...blah blah blah! π Then of course the fear mongering has started....gas prices $5 a gallon, socialism, oil and gas industry going to crap or away for good, no jobs, higher taxes. I could go on but I just scroll on by. They have made me so incredibly exhausted I just canβt with them anymore. This is my Facebook feed from my home town. All of those things, plus pleas to pray for βthe most persecuted man in Americaβ and βthe best a President since Lincoln.β Itβs disheartening, really. Oh, and the βweβre still fighting!!β Funny, I havenβt seen a single complaint about votes still being counted in NC or claims of voter fraud. But Iβm sure weβll see that lawsuit soon. Uh huh.

For those who are curious about the headlines from newspapers across the world..... The announcement came too late for most newspapers here, because it was about 3am. Western Australia is three hours behind us here on the east coast, so they were able to get it on the front page, plus a 16 page US election special edition. I don't know anything about this particular newspaper, but looking at the headline "PHEW!" I'm tipping it's not a Murdoch Press shit-rag!

Agreed. But, still. No nepotism. Also agreed. Unfortunately, to really unite the country to me, Biden should stay away from the Trump model of employing family into positions of power. Also remember, the first lady gets to choose her platform for influence, so let education be hers and use that voice power to create mindset change over the electorate.

There are plenty of people qualified to be Secretary of Education. Let the First Lady be the First Lady and define her own role.
