I won't be able to afford to go more than 2-3 times a week, but I also have had a firm talk with myself about giving up my weekly Starbucks treat which is the same price as a gym visit... (Wow, my first thought on reading this through is - first world problems. Christmas trees and gyms... Then I think of losing a 46 year old friend and get an even bigger reality check!) The first line gave me a chuckle and the second is TRUTH! But these are difficult times all around, and we know that there are harder challenges out there.
I haven't checked in for a while, so I missed your sad news lynnek. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's friend. What a shock! 46 is just way too young. I don't know what where this month has gone. I have only done 4 pages so far, and they've all been sketches. If it weren't for the sketh challenges I would probably have done none! This is my worst (as in least productive) month ever. Do not beat yourself up, at least you have created something. We all have slumps AussieMeg !
Well, I've been online shopping like crazy . . . not all craft related. Tumbler composter for my greenhouse, dual purpose as it will eventually provide compost and also add heat during the winter. Essential Oils, BF sales, and odds and end gifts for DSD, and LEGOs for DS. Black Friday for me can be dangerous . . . Technique Tuesday grabbed some of my $$, and Heartfelt Creations too. Heartfelt Creations sent me a Birthday Coupon for $15% off, which adds on to my already discounted prices for being a platinum member since 2008 or so. I sent a quick email and asked if it would work on Black Friday sales and they said YES! I didn't get everything on my wish list, but did splurge some.
I've actually made 2 cards (yet to share, one doesn't go live until 12/1 on my blog) and have 11 layouts done for my Las Vegas Class reunion album. One more to do and I can call it finished! Then I will photograph the lot, and post. Yeah me, creatively feeling much stronger.
Tomorrow is our big Thanksgiving dinner (governor mandated only up to 6 people per gathering from 2 households . . . . asking folks to report to the police if it appears you have more than the allowed!) I'm off quarantine, no more daily texts to tell them no symptoms or my temperature. The In-laws were going to MN, but changed their minds so we will have them over. I also have a single friend, and checked in with her, she accepted our invite. So we will have the limit of 6, but from three households (sush! no telling). All of us have been super careful, so it should be a total non-issue.
The turkey is in the brine and will be splachcocked in the morning with DH's tin snips and smoked in the Traeger. Potatoes, Sweet potato cassorole, Waldorf salad are my self-assigned dishes. MIL will bring pies and cranberry salad, friend will bring appetizers. So we will be set!
grammadee As a US pea, we don't know it any other way Before I married my DH I spent Thanksgiving weekend performing with the Singing Christmas Tree choir in Portland, OR. It made for a super hectic several weeks, as the rehearsals were done at the Keller Auditorium the weekend before Thanksgiving and every night up to, Thanksgiving off, then up to 10 performance in the following 9 days or so. In the early years we went straight through until Wed night, then it was more humane and we had a few days off and did performances on Thanksgiving weekend and the following weekend. The Nutcracker would load their show in as soon as we finished. We considered ourselves the best way to start the Christmas season. During the 15 years I participated, I sang Christmas songs from Labor Day until Christmas! I miss the people, but not the hectic aspect. Off course it is all cancelled this year.
Even though I love live Christmas trees, I'm afraid my allergies would act up, so we've had artificial for many years. So kitbop I can't tell you if 6 weeks is too long, but I'm guessing yes . . . . I would like to buy a new tree this year as the one in the living room (the family tree) is more than 25 years old, the needles are falling off, and it's a challenge to put together. So Michael's BF tree purchase in in the offing. I have an angel tree I put up in the dining room. I love Christmas decorations and it takes several days to deck the halls!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! May we be grateful for all that we have been given, our families, friends, health, sustenance, and shelter!

{{ lynnek }} I'm sorry I missed your awful news last week. How are you feeling this week? Your DH must be hurting. My DD is asking to get the Christmas tree SOON - like this weekend. We always get a fresh tree, so I'm not convinced it's a good idea: we'll want it up until New Years, and that's almost 6 weeks. We'll have a pile of needles and bare branches by then! Does anyone have experience with real trees and how long they'll last inside??? She just wants to hurry festivities along to counteract Covid sadness. We're back into a "red zone" here, meaning not full lockdown, but lots of cut-backs. For example, our gym closed but then they decided to allow people to book 1 hour appointments - up to 10 in the facility (which is large) for $5. I won't be able to afford to go more than 2-3 times a week, but I also have had a firm talk with myself about giving up my weekly Starbucks treat which is the same price as a gym visit... (Wow, my first thought on reading this through is - first world problems. Christmas trees and gyms... Then I think of losing a 46 year old friend and get an even bigger reality check!) Last year, we left our real tree up until february... yup

How's everyone doing as November slips away on us? I have one layout and a set of cards I am working on, and hoping to finish today, but dh has been pretty chatty this morning, so am not as far ahead with them as I thought I would be.
My tree is not yet up. I have a housecleaner coming in on Thursday, and I will do the tree after she is done. Have heard from the "kids" this past weekend, and two out of three of them have their trees up and decorated. I guess with everyone spending more time at home this year, the grandkids were antsy to get the Christmas prep on the way. My other son's home has been undergoing some reno's, so the tree will have to wait until the flooring is done. Dd was baking Christmas cookies with her little guy yesterday. "But we ATE them all!" he told me LOL.

I'm feeling accomplished as I finished my entire Maine album. I also knocked out some Thanksgiving cards from a kit, and some Christmas cards to donate to my local senior center. I put all my scrappy stuff away, but I know I will want to take it al lout again soon.. breaks never last long for me. But I don't really feel like documenting the fall... not much really happened anyway. We will see.
I could get started on an album for my niece who's first bday is in April. First, I would need to decide what size/format. I did a mini-album for my nephew (they are cousins), but for my niece I am thinking a 12x12.. not sure. I wanted to see if I liked the 9x12 size but I am hearing that those aren't into scrapbook.com yet.. lol.

My mojo kicked in late in the month, and man does it feel great to get some pages done! Did a bit of organizing what I want to do next, and that helps. I scrap chronologically AND when whimsy strikes me to do more current photos. My Chronological albums for my boys are 10 years behind, but I have four Iris cases filled with completed pages to put in albums when I reach that year. Some years like 2016, 2017, 2018 have a few more. It helps that the steer actually went into the trailer last Friday morning and went off to the butcher. That is a huge burden I no longer need to be anxious about. Plus it reduces my morning chores by at least 20-30 minutes. They are a huge investment to purchase the steer and care for them all summer. I have buyers for the rest of the beef, so that is great! Our home re-finance is done, and we got a check from the escrow fund that we weren't expecting. Yeah! I ordered my new computer . . . hum grammadee, can I consider that a crafty supply because I use it to do Photoshop Elements to prep my photos? Oh, and Photoshop Elements 2021 was on Cyber Monday sale, so I got it for $40 off! I think I have most of my Christmas shopping done, with a few minor things to pick up. Now to decorate and enjoy my home! DS has a new play-date friend, he's 9 (DS15 developmentally is 8-10) and they both love everything RC. I am feeling very blessed that his parents are willing to let them spend time together here on our property. I meet the mom through a mutual friend, and discovered that both our sons love Flight Test. Well time to get to work this morning!

I didn't set the spend challenge, but I would definitely count the Photoshop although not the computer. I have most of my November points added up: just a couple of LO's done this past weekend need to be added in.
Decorating will start Saturday: Thursday my house is getting cleaned and Friday I have a couple of appointments to pick up some Christmas gifts. (Small shops here are now operating by curbside pick up and shopping by appointment) After that I will be busy wrapping gifts for mailing and trying to get into the Christmas spirit with the tree and other holiday decorating.

LOL grammadee, I actually set the spend challenge because I know I can't pass up some of the deals of Black Friday, Cyber Monday. The companies I tend to frequent Heartfelt Creations, and a few others still do some cool deals. Not as many this year, or maybe I didn't spend as much time really looking around! But I would agree, probably not the computer, but PSE for sure.

grammadee! Impressive! I haven't added mine up, but if everyone here can take a look and provide totals this weekend I'd really appreciate it! ComplicatedLady , sleepingbooty , lynnek , angel97701 , scrappyrabbit , jediannie , AussieMeg , schroemaI am going to need to involve myself in more threads this December to chit chat. I find the peas is a great escape for me into what feels normal and helps me get my December revving. I will miss the teams this month. I kept myself home from work today because I have a sore throat and harshness in my voice/chest and so I'll get a lovely covid swab later today. I'm pretty sure it's nothing. However, my coworkers probably wouldn't appreciate my presence even if it means their day is going to be a gong show. I feel guilty about not being there. But spreading covid would probably be worse, yes? So I figure I will start some baking, and work on my MIL's annual calendar. I cannot BELIEVE how fast this year went- it feels like yesterday that I posted last year's calendar in our 2 peas gallery.

I did not have a super productive month. In fact, I don't know where the month of November went. But points added up and I have 435 points.
