Welcome to the Count Your Blessings on line crop! Hoping we can spend some time celebrating the good in our lives, laughing and creating together. I am tagging people who expressed an interest in this on a couple of invitation threads: lucyg , tentoes , @marjiethree, scrappyrabbit , iamkristinl16 , ghislaine , tincin , lynnek , paget , Neisey , anniefb , sleepingbooty , Linda , lilacgal , @patter , michellegb , nylene , kellyr21 , but anyone is welcome to come on down! The more the merrier!
Each day there will be prompts to get your creativity flowing, but it is certainly not necessary to follow the prompts to participate. There will be points set out in each of the prompts, but if you are not a member of a November Team on the Challenges board, you don't need to worry about those pesky numbers. If you ARE a member of a TEAM, then please remember that ANYTHING you create November 6th, 7th or 8th is worth DOUBLE points!
Think about all the pages, cards, gifts, home decor you could be creating this weekend! When you do create something, we would love to see it, because nothing inspires creative people more than seeing what other people create. If you are sharing a photo of your creation, please do it through links to Flickr, facebook, tapatalk, or some other platform that hosts your image.
And when you see what someone else has created, please leave some love. We all can use a little of THAT.
And we would love to chat. Maybe play a game or two. We would like to hear what you plan to create or accomplish this weekend, and the progress you make toward doing that. Tell us about the products and tools and techniques you are loving right now. Where is don ? Maybe he can tell us a joke or two!
Friday prompts (A to I) below; Saturday prompts (J to R) further down this page; Sunday prompts (S to Z) on page 2.

Let's get to the prompts! This weekend, we plan to take you through the scrappy alphabet. As I will be our Friday host, I got the first 9 letters. kitbop and joyfulnana will post their prompts to kick off the day each is hosting. To meet a prompt, you just need to create something that you can tie to it. I have a sample for each, which I will edit in once I have them uploaded to Flickr. Mine are cards, but you could create anything--a card, a page, a gift, a home decor item, anything scrappy. A is for ANIMAL. Include a photo or image of a real or mythical animal on your project. A is for ACETATE. Somewhere on your project use a transparency. A is for ACTION. Show movement or action somewhere on your project. Swirling leaves or snowflakes, dust kicked up behind a moving vehicle, OR use a wobble connector or some other device that invites movement (a flap to open, a slider element...) One point for including any of these A prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project. On my card, I have a reindeer, I used an acetate overlay, and I included some swirling snow to represent ACTION.
One point for including any of these A prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project.
_____ B is for BLESSINGS. Use the word Bless or Blessings on a card or page or other project. Journal about your blessings, or include a photo or other image of something or someone for which you feel blessed. B is for BLUE. Somewhere on your project there should be at least a hint of any shade of blue. It can be background pp or cs, in the image or wording, some--or all--of your embellishments. B is for BLENDING. Use a sponge, brush, ink blending tool, or even a paper towel to blend inks together. Use your marker or pencil skills to blend colours on any element.
B is for Blessings, Blue, and Blending by Gramma Dee, on Flickr My card has a blended background, BoBunny snowflakes in blue, and the word Blessings in the greeting. One point for including any of these B prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project. _______ C is for Celebration! It could be Christmas or any other holiday, a wedding, an anniversary, a birthday... Create a card or page or other project that represents celebration or cheer. C is for CLUSTER. At some place on your project, include a cluster of at least three elements. C is for COLOURING. Use markers or crayons or paints to colour some element on your project.
My card has 2 snowmen celebrating Christmas. In their cluster with them are the tree and the gifts. I coloured their hats & scarves with VB crayons and a water brush. One point for including any of these C prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project. _______ D is for DREAM. Include a photo of someone--or perhaps a pet?--sleeping, &/or use the word DREAM on your project. Perhaps you are scrapping your dream vacation, or... D is for Doodlebug, and Dylusions, and DecoFoil, and a number of other manufacturers. Use a product of any ONE of those D manufacturers. D is for DIE Cuts. Use premade diecuts, or cut your own for your project.
D is for Dream, Doodlebug and Diecutting by Gramma Dee, on Flickr One point for including any of these D prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project ________ E is for EARLY morning and EVENING. Scrap the night before Christmas or Christmas morning. Or ANY early morning or late evening. Or use a background of evening or morning sky. E is for ENAMEL dots. Get them out. Spread them around your project. E is for EMBOSSING. Add some texture by either heat embossing or dry embossing at least one element.
One point for including any of these E prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project. _____ F is for FAMILY. Include a family photo or an image of a family gathered together. Or use the word FAMILY in your title or greeting. F is for FLOWERS. Use a floral background, or at least one flower embellishment. F is for FOIL. Use a foiling technique. Or pre foiled elements, or metallic foil letter stickers.
One point for including any of these F prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project. _____ G is for GRAND. Create a card for, or a page about a grandchild or grandparent. G is for GLITTER. Sprinkle some around on your project, or use glitter paper. G is for GREEN. Somewhere in your project, there should be something green.
This card is for one of my grandkids. I love this happy Santa I fussy cut from some older glitter papers and I thought the little guys would like him too.
One point for including any of these G prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project. _____ H is for HAPPY. Use the word Happy somewhere on your project. H is for HEARTS. Use hearts of any size on your project. H is for Height. Give at least one element on your project some height with foam tape or dots, or any other way to lift it up.
One point for including any of these H prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project. ____ I is for ICE. Elsewhere, you may be enjoying spring, or summer or fall. Here it is already winter. Either way, use ICE on your project: a tall icy drink, an ice cream treat, or icycles hanging from a roof... I is for INSIDE. Represent a door or window looking OUT from indoors, or IN from outside. OR if you are creating a card, include a window to the inside of your card. I is for INK. Ink your edges, sponge it onto the background, stamp with it, do whatever you love to do with inks!
One point for including any of these I prompts; five points if you can meet all three on one project.. _____

Beautiful examples, and such fun prompts grammadee . Thank you! Hoping to play. I have to work Fri., Sat., Sun. as does my hubby too. Hopefully I can play a tiny bit. Hubby got up at 4 a.m. so I am going to play for an hour before I start workin'. And as far as what I am lovin' right now--working in my small 6x9 album. I am trying to get a vacation album done. SO many pictures that I don't think it will ever happen. I have to really pick and choose and NOT do my normal "fancy pages."

Hope you get some time to play, patin. Have you thought of interspersing PL or photo album type pages with some of your fun “fancy pages”?

Hope you get some time to play, patin . Have you thought of interspersing PL or photo album type pages with some of your fun “fancy pages”? I assume you meant this for me. Anyway, I do actually do some PL pages in between. And this morning I found Shannan's Pages. Oh my! I really want to try this! I think it could be awesome. I have watched several of her videos already in between taking a break from work. I am not going into my office today since I have to tomorrow and Sunday. I am working from home in my PJs today. www.shannanpages.com

You did a lot of prep work! Wow! @patter - I am working my way through 2019 using Shannan’s Pages templates. I went through and dropped my photos in for each week. Then I print (I made mine 9x12) and embellish. I really like how it looks! Here are a couple of my pages I did using her templates.

Those pages are amazing, lynnek: they look like they came from a magazine. I love that you used the templates to drop everything into, then added your own special touches afterward: best of both worlds!

lynnek those pages are AMAZING. I just bought some templates to play with. I love the idea. I want to make some gift albums too. This may be the faster way to do my vacation photos. Hmmm? And love the idea of adding some real embellishments--hybrid. Perfect! Thanks for the idea and sharing your beautiful pages. grammadee, that's funny. No worries. And yes, PJs are wonderful today!

Good morning peas! grammadee - amazing examples of your prompts! Your cards are gorgeous. I am in a zoom conference today (current topic: anticoagulation in patient's with comorbidities after total joint replacement. We're only 2 hours in and I really need a break!) so I'll only be popping in and out so chat. Thank goodness for good internet. In our house there are 3 of doing "school" by zoom today. I actually started to sort/edit some photos while I was listening to my conference, but it's too intense to split my attention like that Hope to "see" you all around this weekend.

I've been playing with transparencies, acetate and page protectors for my DD album. I like the results so far! It might not be used, but it feels good to just play. The 4x6 size is perfect for me. I tend to have perfection paralysis and 4x6 is so much more manageable. I'll post a photo if I can figure out how to do that.

Hang in there, kitbop ! Don't think our rural internet would take that many on line students at one time! Not completing any cards today; just getting ready for Saturday when my niece will be here to make Christmas cards. Have done some sorting out of my Christmas card papers and supplies so I can move my operation out of my scraproom and on to the dining room table. I feel like the Mad Hatter: "Clean plate! Clean plate!"
So glad you are having fun, @millefeuilles! That's the main idea of this. Would love to see your pages. Are you a Flickr member? Pretty quick to link from there. If you have Tapatalk on your phone, you can post a picture fairly quickly that way.
I just coloured 24 gnome Santas! I am not good at--nor do I enjoy-colouring, but this morning went surprisingly well. Found an old CTMH brush marker in Holiday Red that still had lots of ink and a Pitt bullet tip that worked without bleeding past the lines. Still have to add their Nuvo drop noses and boots, but need to do that after they have been diecut. Is there anything you have done lately that is out of scrappy character for you? Tried a new format or page/card size? A new technique? A different design?

Good morning! Thanks for tagging me. I am *just* getting into everything again after about a 15 year break. 😂 I still have all my stuff. I knew I would want to do it again when the time was right for me. anyway, I decided to jump all in and have a few projects going and ones to start: Memory planner: I like the idea of these and have everything ready for this for 2021. Except I’m excited to start now so I think I am going to turn the extra front pages into Nov-Dec 2020 as a bonus. Bible journal/gratitude journal: started this 11/1. Project life: I did dip my toe into project life a few years back for a hot minute and then stopped so I will start that up again with various pictures I have backlogged. I’m at work right now but plan to spend some time today and Saturday and Sunday on my projects. Thanks for the prompts!

Welcome back to the fun side, paget ! Sounds like you have alot of scrappy projects on the go. I hope you get to play with your supplies and get some pages done in at least one of them. How do you do Bible journaling? I have photos of many different approaches in magazines and on line. And I seem to remember some beautiful pages created by @patter.

Spent some time tonight with DD17 talking about how we both struggle with perfectionism getting in the way of our creative endeavors and in other areas of our lives. I think we're both at crossroads and we're ready to embrace new perspectives and take new approaches. Give ourselves permission to be messy and to make bad art. It was a really good conversation that came at the end of a really rough week, with a lot of work coming due as her first quarter was closing. She's feeling optimistic about next quarter, and I'm feeling optimistic too for the first time in awhile.
Then we watched videos while I tore up paper bags to prep them for a paper bag album.
I'm hoping to get some time tomorrow evening to work on my Christmas cards a little more.

It is hard to let go of that need to be perfect. Sounds like tearing up paper bags is a good way to start. Would love to hear more about your album with them, msliz hoping a lot of people get to play and be creative over the weekend.

I actually don't know what I'm going to do with them yet, but it will involve the Gelli plate I'm giving myself as a holiday gift. I've diagnosed myself as having an aversion to bound books and expensive materials - I get paralyzed - what if it doesn't look like how I want it to look? so I decided to try to use mostly recycled materials and to work on papers before they're bound into a book. I think that by doing those two things I can be more free to just play and experiment, and I only have to keep the pages I like.

Okay, I told my DH I wanted to scrap this weekend. The weather is cooperating . . . we went from 70 on Thursday to a high of about 39 today and snow when DH went out to get the mail at 5 pm But that means I really don't want to be outside cleaning up the garden or the flower beds. Good thing I got all the marigold seeds I wanted, plus I harvested as many wave petunia seeds from my very dead (well frozen while I was out of town 2 weeks ago) as I could. Those stinking things are so TINY! Glad I have a heater in my new greenhouse, all my peas, lettuce, spinach, and basil will survive.
Guess I should get of the computer and consider what's on my craft table!

Hope you get to play with your scrappy stuff, angel97701. I finished colouring and diecutting my little gnome Santas, and have my supplies sorted for card making tomorrow. Hoping it will be a relaxing day, and I can basically grab, glue, and go! No plan of card design, but lots of options. I like the November Sheetload of Cards plan for using 6x6" pp's that azcrafty posted. Also have CoffeeCrafter's sketches printed, as well as some of the other cards from CARDtober.

Good morning to all you peas! We figured we'd keep all the posts in 1 thread, and I think grammadee will copy my prompts (here) into the opening post for easy access. I am as lacking in mojo as many of you, and really want to up my game today. So while I have created prompts... I have not personally played with them yet! Link your weekend creations to this thread so we can see what you accomplish! (whether you are playing with prompts or not). I was also toying with opening up a google hangout later today - a couple of hours of company? If anyone is scrapping and would join me, let me know, because I don't want to sit with an open link all by myself If you have a time that would work for you, shout it out, and we can try to entice more peas to join us. OK, now for prompts for today. Confession: I skipped "K". It's my favourite letter (my initial) but in the scrapbook world it doesn't go far JJ - JOY! Whichever holiday season you wish to consider from Thanksgiving to New Years, write a quick list of 5 small things you think of that bring you JOY! Not the "reason for the season" things. Just bits of the party that you find most jolly and joyful. Mine are: 1. twinkling lights 2. candles 3. baking 4. decorations 5. the smell of a real tree. Now, incorporate one or more of these into your project. You could do a layout about one or more of your joy-bringers, or you could use a representation of them on a card or other project - like I could use an ink "glow" of a candle behind my sentiment on a card front. Or die-cut lights, or an ornament! J - JEWELS! I'm sure most of us have some bling - new or old - in our stash. I have old sticky back crystals, but I'm more impressed with the new jewels you can buy, like Pink Fresh or Studio Katie (the iridescent snow jewels are beautiful!). Whichever you choose, get one on a project somewhere. J - JOURNALING! To meet this prompt you can either journal at least 50 words on your page. OR share your list of 5 small items that bring you JOY! OR write a heartfelt personal note inside a card for sending. LL - LOVE. So many holidays revolve around love. Include the word LOVE on the page or card, although it doesn't have to be in the title - it can be in your journaling or on an embellishment. L - LAYERS. Create at least 3 distinct layers on your page, whether it be double-matting your photo or creating a layered up cluster. The background page doesn't count, it's level 0! L - LETTERS. A mixed up mash up of letters that is! Use at least 3 different lettering types on your page - different fonts, different stickers, different thickers, different stamps. MM - ME - how often are we left out of the holidays? We are cooking, cleaning, shopping, and documenting! Put yourself into the picture - literally - there must be photographic evidence of YOU on your project, but it doesn't have to be a holiday related project. M - Mixed Media - inks, paints, mists, markers, coloured pencils, gesso, gelatos, watercolours, pastes - use one, use a bunch. M - MOOD BOARD Play with this mood board! I see Christmas, Spring and Summer all playing together in this. mood board by kirstendrew, on Flickr NN - NUMBERS - How many holiday dinners? How many gifts? How much money? How much snow? How many covid cases? How many netflix series/seasons/shows? There are a lot of interesting numbers these days and your challenge is to find one and document it. Or, highlight a NUMBER(S) on your project (must be in the title or dominantly featured on your page). N - NAVY - one of my favourite colours. N - NEW YEAR - full of sparkle and promise - so use glitter or sequins or shiny things on your project, create a New Years card or layout, or create a layout about your hopes (and fears) for the future (near or far). O O - OLD - What is OLD in your world? Do you have traditions your can document, antiques you cherish, recipes passed down through generations, or elderly family to document? Or do you want to talk about feeling OLD? Or use really OLD supplies in your project? Go for it! O - ORANGE. One of my least used colours I'm sure, but such a pop. Pumpkins anyone? O - OUTLINE - outline your page/card or elements therein, by stitching, framing, or pen doodling. PP - PLANNING - A layout about preparations for holidays, trips, school. A page in your planner. A layout featuring a list. Or use office supplies on a page/card. P - PATTERNED PAPER! Use at least 3 patterned papers on your project P - PARALLEL PRODUCTION - ie - a SKETCH! Start with this sketch: sketch count your blessings crop by kirstendrew, on Flickr QQ - Question - Make your title or card sentiment in the form of a question. Ask a question and then answer it in your journaling. Or just use a question mark on your project. Q - aQUA - either the colour, or water in your pictures or represented on your project Q - quadrants - a grid layout or element (eg. photos in a grid arrangement, a grid on a tag) 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 etc. RR - Reliable - What in your life is a solid foundation? A person? A place? A hobby? Religion? What in your holidays makes you feel like you are in familiar secure territory? A no-fail food? An annual party? A stocking that has survived since childhood? Or in scrappy terms, SCRAPLIFT yourself - use a card or layout that you thought turned out wonderfully, and use it for inspiration again! Please share both with us R - Rainbow - use an arc or an actual rainbow on your project, or use 4 or more Colours. R - Ripping - tear an edge, even if you use a ruler because you want it straight

Those prompts are awesome, kitbop . Love the mood board and the sketch. And I hope you get to play all day. Hoping to play with some of them as I make Christmas cards this morning. I edited my prompt post to send people here to look for them. If anyone wants me to copy & paste these prompts into the first prompt post so you can see them all together, I can do that. For TEAM players, prompt points for yesterday's prompts are still in play. Here's to a happy scrappy weekend!
