I have the Sizzix Big Shot and it works well for my needs. I have a few dies from other places that won't fit, but fortunately, I have a wonderful sister in law who will let me use her Cricut for larger pieces. It's not under $50, but it's coupled with quite a few die sets, so I think it's a pretty good deal. I got mine when there was an extra 10% off coupon. It's very easy to use.

I found my Big Shot on Facebook marketplace. People are selling them all the time so maybe if that's an option for you check it out! I only paid $30 for mine and it was practically brand new.

I love my Spellbinders Platinum 6. I got mine at Michael's with a rare 50% coupon.

Just a tip if you are buying a Big Shot second hand (which is a great way to get a deal!), ask the seller if it cuts AND embosses in the center. When a big shot has been well loved it can start to miss spots. The most common is the center just doesn't get the same pressure.
Stampin up recently went to making their own machine so there are A LOT of demonstrators that are getting rid of their perfectly good Big Shot so it is a wonderful time to get one second hand!

Just make an extra shim to fit in those areas, it's a hassle but a doable solution until you can afford a better machine.

I have a big shot plus that I got from scrapbook.com. I also have a diamond press that I bought from hsn with dies and folders. It works really well for small dies.

KikiPea Tuesday Morning has the Sizzix Big Kick machine for $49.99 in their Sunday Nov 8 add. I have a version of this machine. The only downside is that it’s bulky and heavy. I prefer my Cuttlebug, which is unfortunately discontinued.

There should be some good Black Friday deals this month. Maybe you can use something like Honey to set up a price drop alert once you choose one you like. Or fingers crossed finding a lightly used one. If I was buying again (I have a BigShot but no longer want to support Sizzix) I might choose a Spellbinders Platinum 6 machine. Everyone in cardmaking seems to rave about the Gemini Jr too.

My Big Shot is getting pretty old. It’s the old pink one and it’s starting to make squeaky noises as well as cutting unevenly although I have new plates and use shims. Like joblackford I refuse to buy from Sizzix so I’ve been looking at the Spellbinders Platinum. I have a Gemini, which I love for my intricate dies, but it’s got too much pressure for some of my simple ones. Thanks for the reviews.

I bought the Fun Stamper’s Journey branded Spellbinders Platinum 6 when they were on clearance on the Spellbinder’s site. If you are ok with lime green instead of the champagne color of the Platinum 6, it is still available for a good price on the Brutus Monroe website (and I think you will get a coupon if you sign up for their newsletter). It is exactly the same machine as the Platinum 6, just a different color. Here is the link. (Forgot to add, it is $70 w/o a coupon) Fun Stamper’s Journey Platinum 6

Do you have a Tuesday morning? They have the Big Shot for $50. It can do thick or thin dies and a range of sizes.

I love my tim holtz side kick and use it much more than my other die cutting machines. It only cut little dies so you will need to get something bigger but the side kick sits on my crafting table because I use it almost everyday
