Do you enjoy sending Christmas cards but hate filling them out / addressing them? Is this something you would pay someone to do? I used to do this for the attorney my mom worked for (she was too busy with his regular work to do them) and it gave me some $ every year toward Christmas. I'm a former teacher with really nice printing and cursive. I'm wondering if you think there'd be a market for this kind of thing? Either for people to send personally or to send as a business. If you think it's something people might do, I'd come up with some options (which I'd probably ask about here first), but I want to see if I'm wasting my time even thinking about this. DH is losing his job on New Year's Eve and I'm trying to find some ways to help bring in a little extra income. I'm not currently working (former teacher, stay at home mom to raise kids... youngest is in 9th grade and doing virtual online through the state due to compromised immune system, so subbing to make $ right now isn't safe as I could bring home to her possibly virus). Since I'm home all day every day, I thought that maybe this would be a good idea?? Be honest, I can take it!

No, But I love doing stuff like that. It would be a very particular set of people. Esp in this economy. And people that can afford it most likely already have assistants? not sure.

I don’t like doing it but I just have the website I buy from print the addresses on the label, I have my addresses in a file that’s easily exported. I probably wouldn’t pay a person to do it after I’ve waited for them to ship from the printer.

I think there is probably a niche market for it. Maybe try contacting a boutique that specializes in invitations & stationary? They might have some clients that prefer a more personal look. I am not sure what business would do printing for corporate cards, but it can’t hurt to ask them. I am sorry about your husband’s job and wish you luck!

Are you any good at gift wrapping? Had a friend that made $$ doing that around the holidays. For businesses like you did the cards. And people who like to give fancy wrapped gifts but don't want to do the wrapping.

I've used family photo cards and mailing labels for the last 20 years, so nothing to fill out or to address. Most of the non photo cards I receive are store bought with a preprinted sentiment and just signed Love, The Lastnames. I have 3 relatives over 70, that still hand address their cards, all the rest are mailing labels. I think there could be a market for hand addressing things like wedding invitations, or corporate party invitations, if calligraphy is out of the budget, but they still want the personal look of nicely handwritten envelopes. It wouldn't cost you anything to offer hand addressing services on your local FB group and Nextdoor.
I'm sorry about your DH job. Best wishes and good luck to you both.

I think there are likely loads of people that would be interested in something like this. Have you looked at places like Task Rabbit for getting yourself out there?

You could do more than just Christmas cards -
Have you also looked into doing wedding invitations? It seems like that would be a year round market you could try.
If I have too many cards to send, I use my computer to make labels. For my weekly cards that I send, I paint, rubber stamp, doodle and decorate the envelopes so much that they need a stick on printed label since the address would not show up other wise. People love getting those envelopes. Have you thought about decorating envelopes?
