We’re having an outdoor, socially distanced birthday party for ds this weekend. I’m serving baked potatoes. All the toppings will already be individually portioned into disposable cups with lids so you just take the cups you want-no shared touching.
I plan to make the potatoes in the IP as I always do and wondered if anyone has ever made them in there in foil? That way people can just grab a potato, with no sharing of utensils.
Thanks!

You definitely can do that, but you’ll be more steaming the potatoes and it’ll take longer for the pot to come to pressure. I don’t think many guests will know the difference, but it is worth mentioning.
But: Since you’re doing all of the food prep, can you bake them all and then wrap in foil?

I made 20 lbs. Worked great and people loved them. Don't forget the bacon...lol

But in this case I think I'd use the oven...You can do more at one time for one thing. I would bake them as-is, then wrap them in foil afterwards. When you said "too hot to handle" did you mean for the guests? If so, I think it would be easy enough to wrap each one with a little "handle" sticking up so people can grab it by that. Sounds yummy.

Guests can pick up their hot potatoes with folded dish towels, using them as hot pads. Once the potatoes are on their plate, the folded towels can be placed in a laundry basket by the gurest to be dumped in the washer later with no one touching them until they are washed.
I too would recommend using a regular oven. When I bake potatoes in the oven they are scrubbed clean then I spray them with oil, or rub them with butter, add a lot of salt, wrap them in foil before they go into the oven on a tray. You could do the prep part earlier in the week then put them in the oven and bake the night of the party.
