already? I feel guilty for feeling this way but band season is in full swing for at least another week or two depending on if we make championships (so far, it's looking decent). My kids are so grumpy and tired by this time in the season and many are sick including me and DD (colds).
They've been at it since August 1st with late night practices twice a week and then rehearsals before the show on the weekend. I think some kids are just ready for it to be over. I love seeing their show and it's a great program to be part of but we all need a nice break. So glad we get all Thanksgiving week off.
Have you ever felt this way? The ironic part is that we usually miss it pretty quickly after it ends too.

Yes. I'm the Varsity Team Mom. Tonight is our last football game unless two big teams both lose. We won't go to the playoffs and I feel bad for the kids. They have been conditioning since January and the season officially started August 1, too. But I'm glad for it to be done. I'm exhausted. It's supposed to be 45 degrees tonight with 25 mile an hour wind gusts. I KNOW tonight is going to be a long night. But we should win.

My kids are not on the football team or in the band, and I miss football season! I was just telling my husband this morning that I wish we had a football game to go to tonight! But I can see how the kids are tired having been at it since summer! My 15 yr. old's "boyfriend" plays soccer, so I was always driving her all over to go to his games. I was glad to have more free time in the evenings but I know how much my kids loved going to the games.
Our football team went from 10-2 last year to 2-8 this year (with the same players). So our season ended a couple weeks ago. No playoffs for us.

YES!!! Every band season. It seems to stretch on f-o-r-e-v-e-r. I know it isn't actually that long, but the time commitment from parents is so huge it feels like eons.

Yes, yes, yes, 100% yes.
Fall Baseball finished last week. The last soccer game is tomorrow (unless they do a make-up day for the game that was rained-off - fingers crossed they won't).
I can't wait to not have to do any running around to practices mid-week and having our weekends back to ourselves.

Our last high school football game is TONIGHT, hallelujah! It's been rough because DS doesn't drive yet, and besides being in marching band, he's also in a brass ensemble that plays at the pep rallies and during the third quarter at the game and they practice ALL THE TIME. But as of tonight, it's over, and now Jazz Band practice starts on Tuesday!
We were thrilled when cross country season was over. That was rough on everyone. DS had practices four times a week, starting at 6 a.m. Yawn!

This is my dd's last year in high school, so this year is bittersweet. On one hand I'm so glad it's the last time I'll have to attend whatever event, but at the same time I'm also sad it's the last time to attend said event.

Yes but probably for different reasons. My DS joined a new travel baseball team this season and we hate it! Cannot wait until January so he can join a team that actually wants to travel and play ball more than 1 weekend a month!

Marching band season has ended for my dd who is a senior. Her marching band concert was Monday. She also worked at Cedar Point and that closed on Sunday so she is free tonight for the first time in a long time. She was exhausted with being up late on Friday nights for football games and then having to be at work by 11 a.m. on Saturday, working until 1 a.m. or 2 a.m. then being back to work at 11 a.m. on Sunday til 8:30 p.m. or 9 p.m.
She does have to go play with the band Saturday night at a dinner but that should only be for a couple hours and then they will get served a 14 course meal (tickets to the event are $105). Other than that I think she plans on sleeping/being lazy all weekend.

I'm secretly grateful my kids never wanted to get into any extracurricular activities.

Yes! My older dd was in marching band all four years and by the end of last year (her Senior year) she was pretty happy that the team was terrible and that football season would come to an end quickly. I admit that dh and I weren't sad, either.
My younger dd starts in band next year. I am sure I will probably feel similarly, and she may as well.

I am ready for it to be over and this is just my son's first year. Not only did they have the football games to play at, but roughly another 6 competitions. It gets tiring seeing and hearing the same show from the same bands all the time. When I was in the band we put out a new show every two weeks, but then again we weren't a competition band. I can't believe the band members aren't sick of practicing the same thing over and over, for hours on end. And I will be so happy not to have to pick him up at 11:30 or midnight coming back from the competitions.

Sometimes I feel that way with 4-H since can be year long. If the kids don't go to state fair then they get the month of September off. But if they go to state then their year runs fully from October to October. Luckily I love it and the time I give to the club and county, but yes, every once in a while I would love a little more time off

Oh yes. I was that Bad Mom who was thinking "please don't win the division because then we'll have to go to playoffs". Then I'd think "what the heck are you thinking? you want your kid's team to win!" .... then "oh please don't make the playoffs, I can't stand to travel two hours away to watch more games..." ugh.

He's a senior and tonight will be his last game. Ever. He's not playing college ball. But the District Robotics team started last week, so he will be busy with that. But I won't have to stand out in the cold for 4 hours every Friday night to support him.

Yes, my son has soccer State Cup quarter finals this weekend. While I hope they move on to the final games next week, I am looking at crossing that finish line next weekend & taking a break (he will still play indoor & practice - but no more traveling or games on the weekends for several months).

YES!! I want the football team to continue their great year, but I am tired of marching season. I am the parent in charge of getting other parents to sign up to chaperone the band busses and I can tell enthusiasm is waning. Our team this year is ON FIRE, so I think we will have a few more weeks still, maybe even a game Thanksgiving weekend. And I think we will be the "home" team (so will march) for every playoff game because it is based on the points scored, and those dang football players scored A LOT of points. Oh well, I will probably miss it when it is over for the year.

Yes. Dds highschool danceteam is all year - they get about a 2 week break in April. Certain parts of the year are busier than others but it's mostly dance 4-5 days a week for most of the year including summer. I will be partying in the streets when she can drive!

no, i love standing/sitting in the freezing temps at the end of fall, trying to figure out what combination of blankets/coats/raingear will keep me dry from the sleet, and how to keep my football and soccer boys from freezing on the field and sidelines when they can't obscure their uniforms, and experimenting with detergents to get half frozen mud and grass out of all those materials, plus finding ways to keep the one who isn't playing amused in the cold and wet. why do you ask? i was sooo excited when our sports ended a week ago. the last weeks were absolutely miserable.

YES!! Every year it feels like hockey season just never, EVER ends! It started in August and I am already so over it that I could scream, but I have another 5 months to go.
