I've had anxiety/panic attacks for about a year. In Sept, I thought I was having an attack, only it wasn't ending and started feeling different. Went to the local ER where my EKG was normal, but cardiac enzymes showed a possible small heart attack. Scary ride in ambulance to trauma hospital for an angiogram and echocardiogram. They found a small percentage of blockage in one artery, but said it was actually normal for someone my age and that shouldn't cause issues. And no other evidence to show a heart attack from the tests.
Even though my cholesterol and blood pressure weren't high and haven't ever been high, they put me on BP and cholesterol meds. I wore a Holter Monitor for a month to track my heart and I see the cardiologist next week. My cholesterol is lower on the meds and my PB yesterday was 101/65.
Provided they monitor didn't show anything, would they just leave me on the meds and check again in a year? I've had a rough year with medical things and I'm anxious about what he's going to say, so I'm trying to prepare myself for some of the things that could occur...

It could be so many things or nothing at all. If it were me, I would also be making an appt. with a counselor to help manage my anxiety/panic attacks. Personally I've seen a counselor before (I'm a cancer survivor) and they do wonders to help manage these kinds of things.

You are likely to have closer follow up while on medications than a once a year check. Most cholesterol medications actually require more monitoring with blood work every 3-6 months. Your BP may not have been "high" but the actual definitions have changed and seeing what your BP is now, I would bet you were at least near the upper limits of normal if not above normal with the newer guidelines.
I suspect they will say you are doing well on the medications and will keep you on them and schedule a follow up visit for anywhere from 2 months to 6 months from now.. probably in the 2-4 month range as you are still quite new to these drugs.

Thank you for sharing. I am seeing a counselor at the local breast cancer institute. She is helping with tools to address the panic and with some depression. melissa, thank you for sharing that. I greatly appreciate it.

Best practice guidelines say that anyone with an MI, even a small one (elevated cardiac enzymes count), is on a beta blocker and statin, especially if your LDLc was >100.
Beta blockers are used for more than to just lower BP and help your heart work more effectively and work less, which helps preserve heart muscle.
