Cycles in history/society. Is this man going to be correct for the next few years?

I believe him. The next few years are going to be rough. They would have been worse if trump had been reelected. There is a lot of anger and way too many people who have way too much money compared to the growing population of people slipping further and further behind. It's going to be a rocky ride.

okay, that was complicated, and (from the portions that I could grasp) it was also scary. It did make some general sense- historical events don't happen in a vacuum, they happen because of other things that happen to bring them and their outcomes about. So studying history in a different way can show patterns. Creating too many of an elite class, but not creating the jobs to go along with them... we've seen this in the discussion about college graduates not being able to find jobs. And the idea that democracies flourish 'because of' war, well, I agree with that, too. So I'm not looking forward to the next 5-10 years overall. Now I'm reading another Atlantic article that was linked on that page titled "Meritocracy Harms Everyone" (From September 2019) that's talking about some of the same things... I think I need to go watch some YouTube cat videos, or something, lol.

This is a powerful article. I do think that this man is going to be correct for the next years. Thanks for sharing this with me. Do you have a subscription to The Atlantic? I usually follow David Frum as his mother, Barbara Frum, was a journalist with CBC in Canada.

No subscription to the Atlantic. I think this was a suggested article for me.
