What kind of person would come up with a toy like this and market it to children? It's just beyond sickening. Exactly. UN-believable!

Anyone remember the segments Jay Leno did on his show about dollar store items? I think this would be the winner. I feel bad for the factory workers getting paid crap wages in China who had to make those things! They were probably thinking WTF is wrong with Americans!

I wonder if any more parents will actually go to that store and ask that this "toy" be removed.

Here's a link to the news article about it. It's very disturbing that something like that is even made. The caution to us as parents is that we need to be careful and more selective about what we purchase for our children.

That is messed up and I wouldn't want my own daughter to have that-at any age.

Yeah, but what person in their right mind would ever even dream that a fairy wand would have such a sickening component? The two just don't typically go hand in hand, you know? As for the name of it being the evil stick, well I thought about that too. First of all, I probably wouldn't have looked at the name, a wand is a wand is a wand, in the normal world. Secondly, those stores like $ Tree, Big Lots, etc. often have things packaged with different languages. Even a lot of the food items are obviously foreign packaged. So, if I HAD seen that I would have likely thought it was from another country and just a weird translation. But to be honest it would likely be just a toy that I would look at for pieces that may be unsafe (choking hazards, etc.) and throw it in the cart or let my kid walk around the store with it. I am for being observant of what you buy your kids, but there is NO way I would ever have connected the dots in this case. I guess the world has come to the place where you need to look for horror in all aspects of daily life...even your kids' toys. I should say, even very seemingly 'ok' kids' toys. That is a sad state of affairs.

The toy name could easily be seen as Evi Lstick. As though there is a girl named Evi. I'm making a trip to my Dollar Tree and plan to check for it there.

Jesus, that image is terrifying. Who exactly is this marketed for? I didn't even notice it said Evil Wand.

I have to agree that this is really creepy-- and, frankly, I think I am going to have nightmares now-- but I also don't think I'd let my kid pick out a toy called "evilstick" no matter how pink and sparkly.

ETA: I blew up the photo to see if I could make out what the hidden image is supposed to be...what do you think? I think it looks kind of like this type of fairy, not like some demonic nightmare trying to entice my child into risky behavior. It's really hard to tell, but it looks like a fairy on her hands and knees with too much eye make up on. creepy, but not near as disturbing as the picture in the video.
