Today on our walk through a nature center, the dogs and I encounter a ginormous bobcat. By the time I got my phone out and zoomed in, I could barely see his butt. I almost brought my DSLR on our walk today because yesterday we saw so many great birds that I was hoping to spot a giant barn owl that frequents this place. Rats. What pictures have you missed?

There's one afternoon that I burned into my memory. It was before I had a digital camera, and I didn't have any film.
My DDs were 4, and from the kitchen window I was just watching them play in the backyard, running up the hill to the swing set and down the hill to the shed with their arms full of rocks and pinecones and other treasures, and back and forth again.
I tell myself that some day I'll draw or paint that picture, but I'm not that talented. It's a good thing I have a good memory for images.

Oh man! I would've loved to see a bobcat picture.
Several years ago my friend asked me to photograph her wedding. I mis-wound the film and missed photographing the kiss. Luckily there were other photographers too, and the happy couple didn't mind re-creating the kiss for me anyway!
More recently I was watching the stray cat we call Simon who sleeps on our porch who was yowling at a black cat invading his turf. I saw the perfect moment, the glowing eyes of the black cat, and Simon getting ready to scare him away. My husband moved to open the door right as I was about to hit the shutter and scared the black cat away! I put the photo in my Halloween album anyway even though it was just Simon and black night void.

I'm trying, but I can't find the bobcat butt in your pic sorry! I missed the timber wolf that walked a leisurely 1/4 perimeter of our yard. My dslr camera battery was dead and the few pics through the window didn't turn out at all. What I really miss, though, is capturing more of the fun of my teen years (no camera phones...or even mobile phones for that matter), especially of me and DH waterskiing and kneeboarding together.

Not that he chased your corgi. That sounds like a bad scene. But I'm fascinated by American animals. I saw two coyotes in a field one morning on the way to the mall, before I knew that there are coyotes around here, and it surprised me so much. Since then I've seen one actually crossing a highway overpass behind the mall, and for a moment I wasn't sure if I was scared of him or for him (I was walking, the road was very busy). One darted through the yard behind us one summer night we were gathered around grandpa's fire pit, which was a bit alarming in the dark. Growing up in NZ I only knew Wile E. and the Roadrunner, so I thought that they all lived in the desert (and never caught the roadrunner).

My friend did the photography for our son's wedding. It was out of town, so he brought his family, at my invitation. His DD got sick, so I told him to head home and I'd photograph the gift opening brunch. I was so tired, I forgot all about it. Luckily, DDIL is a sweetheart and was very understanding. In my defense, DH was diagnosed with his cancer and had just had his first surgery. It's a miracle the wedding happened and we were there.

Fun trip to the ER to find it wasn’t broken. They said his nail wouldn’t grow back but it did. Zero repercussions from it. I should have known something was up when they came in and specifically asked for a healthy snack like sunflower seeds. I really dropped the ball as mom that day

It's going to sound silly, but there was a teeny little van that was near me in traffic today that amused me to no end.
If you look up "micro van" on Google, you can see what they look like. They're kinda neat looking.

We went kayaking in the bio bay in PR for our anniversary a long time ago. I brought an underwater camera all the way there just for that trip. Remembered it when we were in the kayak in the middle of the bay. It was back in the hotel in my suitcase. Sometimes I look at online pics of the bio bay just because. I know someone had suggested printing them out to be able to scrap the bio bay, but they weren't "my" pics and I was soooooo pissed at myself. I had to forcefully tell myself to enjoy the moment and just remember it, otherwise I would have been mad the whole time. To be fair, the trip started at midnight-not my best time to be remembering stuff. fyi biobay vieques.com/island-bioluminescent-bay/

Our plane was delayed by an entire day because of an engine issue (big deal, yes, fixed in 90 minutes) that turned into a 7 more hours of waiting because they couldn't get the right food for the first class fliers. It would have been comical if it hadn't meant we missed a full day in PR.

I miss lots of good photo ops but yesterday a road rage motorcyclist pounded hard on my driver's side window. I grabbed my phone and was able to snap a pic of his license plate as he was moving away, but I wish I could have captured his enraged face and raised fists. He felt I passed him too closely apparently. I used to ride so I know how motorcyclists can feel about cars on the road and vice versa. But that is a photo I would have liked for my police report.

Scary. That happened to me once. A motorcyclist cut me off and then got angry that I almost hit him. It was his fault! Glad you're okay I did snap a photo of a vehicle once and took it to the police. The driver of a delivery truck was on his cell and ran a red light nearly hitting me. I was a little shaken that time too.

OMG I would still file a police report with the license plate. If he's doing it to you, he's doing it to others.

Wow on the motorcyclist! One of my missed moments involved a kid on a motorcycle holding wheelies for long stretches on a major expressway, doing 60+. He thought he was hot stuff but I was terrified he would wipe out in front of me and I’d hit him. I chose NOt to pull out my phone so I could be prepared. This went on through three long 5 mile stretches until I finally had to get off.
The other “one that got away” is the fox who lives somewhere behind us. For several winters I’ve tried to capture him via photo, but he has a sense he’s being watched and disappears just in time. DH got a very blurry video of him last winter, but you wouldn’t know it was a fox.

I would still file a police report with the license plate. Yes, the police officer called me and made a report. He had me email him the photos and messaged me that he got them and to let him know if anything else happens. I am back at my own home now in a different state. As it turned out it happened less than a half block from the police station. I could have pulled up and run in there, but I didn't realize where it was.

I've missed a few. I was driving home from work one day and a middle aged man rode past me on a penny farthing like it was quite normal. I was walking into a shop when an elderly man walked by. His skin was blue. Not blue paint but almost like it was naturally that colour. He was just going about his day. Not that I would have photoghaphed him even if I had a camera, but I've often wondered why. Last one: Doing some renovations outside when a huge 'blimp' floated past, just above the solid fence at eye level. It was probably as long as two houses and was being walked by a couple of people. I later saw it floating/flying over a new shop. Just weird little things that make you think, "I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes".
