That is telemarketers. My caller ID needs an upgrade, to help me filter out all these "unidentified" callers. I get tons of calls from "Toll Free Caller", those are a no brainer.
So many other calls are coming from "no info," or weird area codes. I want to know WHO is calling me, before I decide to answer my phone. That's why I pay for caller ID on my landline.
Worst, though, is these calls coming to my cell phone.
I'm looking for a job, have been sending out resumes, applying to jobs online, and have been using my cellphone as my contact. Luckily I can block calls and texts on my cellphone, but goodness, it gets annoying. There are a lot of people looking to scam job seekers.
Telemarketers should be required to either identify themselves by company name, by the label "unsolicited marketer", or "I will waste your time while trying to get you to buy things you don't want."
i know now people will reply that telemarketers just need a job too. But it is a vampire job. Get a job that doesn't prey upon other people.

For giggles, these days I google to see who is calling me. Apparently, the Microsoft people really want me to know that someone is trying to take over my computer and want to help me avoid that, and there is someone from the IRS who wants to arrest me.
It is crazy. Pure out and out craziness.

I got on the Do Not Call List for cell phones. Wan't sure if it was a real thing, but I don't get calls from solicitors, so I am guessing it worked.
My answering machine says, "If you are a solicitor, please take us off of your list and do not call again." They don't care.
We also have a "Do Not Solicit" sign on our door and more than one of them has said they didn't know what the meant. Oy.

One of these days I'll get used to the way the word "solicitor" is used in the USA. In Australia it's someone who prepares contracts for house sales or wills, gives legal advice, a lawyer. I know some people don't like lawyers but the mental image of needing to post that near your front door is amusing.
