Hi I'm wondering how you guys keep your receipts from restaurants from fading? I love including them in my Pl albums. I have some that are already fading and it's only been 2 weeks since we got back! I have ran them off ... But was wondering if there was something else out there... TIA

Oh, I hate those memorabilia that fade! I usually make a copy of it onto cardstock (or any other acid-free paper - heck if it's PL, I might even use regular copy paper) using my printer, trim, and use that instead.

Can you spray it with a fixative like the ones that are used for pastels and chalks? Or maybe Archival Mist? Not sure if these would work but it might be worth a try.

I would scan it and print out the copy. I already do that with receipts I need to keep for large purchases and warranties. I keep the original with the copy just in case - but I know they will fade anyway.

I don't know the name of the spray... I'll try to google it... It's such a hassle to have to scan and copy ... They should make them last better than they do! Thanks ladies

I think that only happens with the thermal paper and printer receipts... Do you need a different spray/is there a spray for them?

I take a photo of it or copy it. It's a pain but the thermal receipts fade eventually.

I'd be afraid that the thermal paper would get damaged with the spray. I know it sometimes does when it's near heat. I would recommend photocopying it.

I think as was mentioned above that it's the interaction between the thermal paper and the ink, not that the ink somehow rubs off or something, so I don't think that the spray would help. I know that the archival spray keeps newsprint from yellowing, but that seems like it would be a different chemical process than what's going on with the thermal receipt paper. I guess you can try it and report back!

I think thermal paper fades faster when kept in a plastic pocket. If it's kept in a paperpocket/folder, it will not fade as quickly. But ya, it's annoying!
I take pictures of receipts I want to inclupe in any form of scrapbooking.
