Hi all it's been a long, long time..... I've been a pea for many, many years. my original Pea name was sweetpee. I was more of a spectator Anywho now that I'm retired and locked up I thought I would do a little scrapbooking.... Anyone do an altered Rolodex? any pros or cons? care to share a picture? I figured it would be something small to start with. I did see (I believe) Becky Higgins had one and I'm wondering if her die and punch are the same size as a real Rolodex? interchangeable if you will.

I have both the punch and her Rolodex. I don't have a real one to compare it to though. I would love to make a altered one of pics of kids that I could display.

I’ve never done one, but I think Heidi Swapp has examples and maybe previous products. Worth checking out.

Congratulations on your retirement!
I've never done one, but if you search for Memorydex on YouTube, you will find some great examples.

sounds like a cool idea.
I did start a perpetual birthday calendar project with 7Gypsies supplies, using prepunched cards on their vertical stand. I had the month dividers all made and blank cards for the birthdays at the time (before the last flurry of dgk's births) but life took over and I never did finish it. You are making me want to revisit that project. Hmmm.... have to find it first...

Heidi swapp has one and also the dies for just punching the bottoms and a punch. I haven’t done one yet but I have o e and plans for it. I was going to do I e of DD’s art work but she hasn’t given me pictures even though I’ve asked. Although my plans might change since I just saw in recently that out in all the wallet school photos and I might do that with my great niece & nephew's pictures

They are adorable!! I figured if I start old/vintage (🤣) Christmas pictures from when I was a kid. Christmas Memories of past🎄 It looks to me like a regular Rolodex would hold more pictures then Heidi's......

They are hard to find & pricey around here, or at least the large ones are. You can get the little flat business card ones all over but the larger real ones are harder to find

Especially if you already have the old Rolodex. I have no idea about compatibility but I would guess it is all standardized. It would be cheaper to produce something that was already in production in another form. Like all the scrappy 6 ring binders/punches that are actually just re-branded from older Filofax or similar products.

I did one of these probably 15 years ago. Some online friends & I did a swap where we made a card for every person with our name, online name, mailing address and 3 things about us. I had it on my desk for years and finally got rid of it because lots of the info was outdated and the group disbanded.
I love the idea of doing a Christmas past rolodex, that would be fun to bring out every year with the other decorations.

That Heidi Swapp one is cute!
I never did one, but I did a recipe box one. It was really cute... My mom has it.. but I did all recipe type cards with one of my kids. We used to call her a kid of a 1,000 faces.. EVERY picture she had some silly face and never the same.. So I took all the yucky pictures and used a square punch just one her face.. all the pics my MIL used to send me that I called 'seconds'. it was a great use of pictures that I didn't really even want but never threw away.

I have and it was quite a few years ago. I have a Boss Kutz (can't remember how to spell the company) rolodex die. Memorydex dies or punches are essentially the same thing. It is more popular because you have more space to work with.
It's funny you posted this, I was going through my completed rolodex dies. I'll post photos in a few minutes so you can have a good laugh. I didn't try very hard to make them look good.

Very old rolodex cards when most of my stash consisted of DCWV and Provo Craft paper.

refugeepea, I think they're cute. The thing I like about this kind of project is how all the pieces feel when they're all together. Here's a youtube of one that Paige Evans made. I love it. It's so over the top. She's the queen of Too Much

I was also recently looking into getting a Rolodex to put tiny images of layout sketches. Thinking it might be a quick way to flip through and find them.
Anyone have thoughts on that concept?

Anyone have thoughts on that concept? that sounds interesting When I taught, I had lesson plans written on sticky notes that went into a Rolodex that I updated each year and used for the next year. As computers evolved, I ended up putting them on a template, but loved the Rolodex idea for ease of finding lessons. I'll bet you could drop images on a Rolodex template and cut them out or use a scan and cut to do that for you if you have one.

I also think that they're cute and simple refugeepea! With Thanksgiving I haven't had a lot of time to search but what little I did on YouTube Nobody seemed to have/use photos on them. I definitely would like to put photos on them. I'm wondering and second-guessing is it too small for a photo🤷♀️

I'm wondering and second-guessing is it too small for a photo I think a wallet sized photo would work pretty well, it would just stick out above the rolodex card like the Paige Evans video that was posted. I forgot to mention there's also rolodex and memorydex cutting files out there you can use as well.

I am actually working on a rolodex project right now! I just have a stack of random photos and am including them (obviously cut down). I have no theme and it has been fun, because I can spend 1 minute or 3 hours.

I found a large rolodex with the larger sized cards at GW but haven’t started it yet. I do vintage collages on Memorydex cards and have a few dies that I got from AX. I also make altered playing cards. I never thought to incorporate my photos on them, have to give that a try.

If anybody has one with photos on it I would love to see it. I'm surprised so many altered but nobody really added photos.

I think that is awesome idea! I have printed pages of sketches in the past and they sit in a regular 3-ring binder, which takes up more space. Printing them in smaller form and putting them in a rolodex or even a recipe box would be much more convenient. TFS!!
