What do you use to attach the flap? I tried using Washi, but ended up having to reinforce it with scotch tape both inside and outside. The washi kept letting the flap come loose. This card is for a 7 year old, so it needs to be able to take a little movement. Here is the inside, behind and under the flap:

The card is adorable!
The only way I've done this is by having a section on the part you're holding that is folded under and that is what I attach to the card. I use liquid glue mostly.
I hope this makes sense!

I would glue it, unless you want it to be removable. I can’t tell from the photo if it has a flap. If it doesn’t, I would add a flap and glue the flap.
I haven’t done a card quite like this. I have made several pop-up and other cards that have something to pull, slide, etc., and for those, I use glue if I don’t want it to separate. I also have a stamp set (I think it’s from My Favorite Things) that has a variety of word hints such as “pull,” “lift,” so that the recipient knows what to do. Not all interactive cards are obvious.

I would probably have sandwiched a piece of folded thin cardstock to make a hinge between the elements of the flap piece (assuming the happy birthday piece is attached to the white piece rather than being printed on it). Does that make sense? Washi varies a lot in stickiness, but even if it's decent quality I usually still end up having to put it on back and front to create the hinge.

I use score tape for flip up cards howeverI make sure that it works before attaching the tape! I find score tape holds these types of cards the best. Super cute card!

I would also make a cardstock hinge and use double sided tape to attach it.
