..and the wildlife are enjoying it. It allows the animals to cross a freeway.

I think Canada has some underpasses near Banff that are similar.

In Banff, Alberta there are 6 overpasses and 38 underpasses. They also have fencing along the highway.
From Parks Canada: There is a "learning curve" for animals to begin using wildlife crossings after construction. For wary animals like grizzly bears and wolves, it may take up to five years before they feel secure using newly built crossings. Elk were the first large species to use the crossings, even using some while they were under construction! Research has shown that grizzly bears, elk, moose and deer prefer wildlife crossings that are high, wide and short in length, including overpasses. Black bears and cougars seem to prefer long, low and narrow crossings.

This is awesome. In Costa Rica, they have blue ropes that go over the roads so that the monkeys can safely cross the road. Once in a while there would be a pokey sloth using it.

This isn’t too far from me, and, while it’s cool in concept, I really don’t think it works all that well. I see animals (both alive and dead) along the side of the road there all the time, and a friend’s husband actually hit a moose there not too long ago. My husband, who drives that route to work, has said the same thing.

That’s cool, and I am glad it is saving animals-they got some great footage! But, 5 million dollars for that bridge? Yikes!!

That's cool!
It's pretty amazing how the wildlife stick to their paths. I have hit several deer and countless other wildlife and it is pretty much always in the same places.
I get to watch the deer move every morning now, during the rut. It's amazing to watch. I'm not the only one watching either! LOL But we only let one party hunt our ground and they don't sit in tree stands, but instead have a couple big hunting parties over a couple weekends. I know when they are out and they know I will be out. I always wear a LOT of blaze orange this time of the year.

From the Parks Canada site I quoted above there was also this: Highway fencing in Banff National Park has reduced wildlife-vehicle collisions by more than 80% and, for elk and deer alone by more than 96%. So you need fencing to stop them and divert them to the overpasses. Especially if it can take them up to 5 years to cross the over or underpasses. www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/banff/info/gestion-management/enviro/transport/tch-rtc/passages-crossings/faq/10

I think Colorado has one as well. And our state just received $22 million in federal money to build a 2nd one over Interstate 25.

Very cool! Didn't they build an animal bridge somewhere in CA too? They are building one right now in the San Fernando Valley across the 101 Freeway. It will span 10 lane of highway and is said to be the largest crossing in the US. Sadly, a mountain lion was hit by a car recently very close to where the new bridge is being built. The bridge won’t be open until 2026. It can’t be finished soon enough.

There is also one in Murrieta (I think might be different as I don’t know the boundaries) but it’s not over a freeway but busy and wide street. It’s in a more rural area. It’s pretty cool.

It is actually an underpass, so the animals never cross over anything. It is near Genesee. So many elk around there. Glad there will be a few on I-25.

We have one over Memorial Drive in Houston. I had to search for photos of that. Cool bridge! It is. It's part of a huge improvement in Memorial Park (roughly in central Houston). We have a beautiful area called the Eastern Glades to enjoy, with shaded paths through the trees, in addition to miles of walking/running trails and a very nice arboretum.
