KZ lost me when she became a health guru and all of her scrapbooking was about exercize and diet. Not that those are bad things, but they dominated all of her layouts and blog posts. Now that she's back with the "in" crowd, I find her annoying and condescending. I never did like the "I'm so cool" attitude that most members of that clique have, and I've stopped following and watching most of them. I occasionally watch Gina K, but she's starting to lose me too. I don't like preachy, and I don't need your quotes and guidance. Just make the pretty things.

I got “over” scrap celebrities after a couple CKCs circa 2007 or 08. CZ wasn’t at the two I went to, but almost all the class teachers gave off a vibe of “can’t wait until these losers are gone so we can gossip about them and party together.” Yup. This is totally how I felt when I went to a couple of "big" events back in the heyday. It really put me off the whole "scrap celebrity's" things...and the silly thing was, outside of the insular paper crafting world, no one knows who these folks are! They act like they're Madonna or something.

I don't talk to my priest about scrapbooking advice, so I'll likely not take guidance from scrap celebs...

Gina K, but she's starting to lose me too. Gina K pissed me off when she used my email (from a purchase I had made) for fundraising purposes. When I reached out about that, I never heard back. So basically it didn't matter to them...I took myself off all her lists.

I'm okay with "influencers" giving their opinions on things outside of their realm of expertise, I'm just not okay with the holier than thou attitudes given off by some of these people or if their opinions are Q-anon or other completely untrue things (like Retrohip - she's deep in the q-anon and occasionally posts in her insta-stories the garbage those people spew so I unfollowed her immediately).

Her IG is an eyeful: http://instagr.am/p/CCRMVM3l3wt Maybe wants to be a model on the side? She's adorable. She does have a different instagram account for stamping and hair stuff. ( @rinakdesigns ) I watch all her videos and I watch Gina's too. I honestly don't think Gina comes off as preachy. She does these encouraging quotes during her live videos but nothing that tells you how to live or what to do. The truth is, they are all just human beings making videos for us to watch. If I don't like something, I just click off and watch something else. Now if I could scrapbook and make cards as much as I watch videos, that would be a feat. Lately, I don't even feel like scrapbooking. Not going anywhere and have no photos that are inspiring me right now to do it. I’ve never looked at her IG I only watch her YouTube That looks like a fairly typical IG if some people that age though

Rina is a pretty girl, but the brows are so instagrammy. They would look so much better if she lightened up on the filling. Most of the time they just look like angry slashes on her face. In 10 years she’s gonna look back and think wtf?!

Lol I have friends who post stuff like this and they have kids who are middle school age. It always reminds me how thankful I am that I didn’t have to grow up worrying that my friends would ever see pictures of my moms ass on the internet 😂

If I looked that good I'd totally being showing myself off! I think it's fine if this is what she wants to share. And if she does have kids in the future, she can show them these photos and how confident she was/is. Also, if it wasn't so hard to maintain multiple social media accounts, I'd be fine with people having separate accounts for just their crafting and also one for whatever else they wanted to share. I still kind of like to know what kind of person they are so I'm not following someone who has opinions that are not based in reality.

I only say "Be Kind" if I've asked for constructive criticism. I would never send a card with that on it.

Because when you're in that particular clique, it's all about lecturing others. Be kind, if you can't say something nice - say nothing at all, and if you thumbs down you're jealous and the worst human on earth (because they're fucking clueless about how You Tube algorithms work).

I would never send a card with that on it. Most of the cards these card-makers make I would never send. Lots of weird sentiments that seem to be primarily for card-makers from card-makers. I need: birthday, thank you, sympathy/thinking of you, congratulations and a LITTLE BIT of love sentiments (I only use those for DH and then only on Vday). But I think they run out of ideas and they just start using random sayings as "sentiments" for cards - like "Be Kind".

I guess you could use it with the saying
In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
But even that is a bit weird to receive on a card. I mean that’s a parenting talk you have with your young child not really an encouraging card sentiment 🤷♀️

Totally agree. I've been thinking that about a bunch of "kind" products lately! I have a kind stamp/die set from a couple of years ago and the only way I use it is as a "thank you for being so kind" or "you're my kind of person" or maybe "be kind to yourself" There are lots of cut aparts and stickers and things that say "be kind" and I think they're more aimed at the planner crowd as affirmations and reminders to yourself to be kind (or be high and mighty about being kind when no one else is). But as a card maker I would NEVER have a use for a "be kind" sentiment.

Gina K, but she's starting to lose me too. Gina K pissed me off when she used my email (from a purchase I had made) for fundraising purposes. When I reached out about that, I never heard back. So basically it didn't matter to them...I took myself off all her lists. I sent her an email too and asked to be removed from the mailing list and stated my issues with this. I told her she needed to support other charities like Black Lives Matter and food insecurity and stuff like that. She responded to me. Here is what she said: I am so very sorry I offended you. That wasn't my intention at all.
I do agree with you 100% that we need to do more to fund many of the things you listed. My company has been financially supporting the BLM movement with hefty donations to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund and we also recently raised over $22,000.00 for the Global Empowerment Mission to help with things like wild fires and hurricane relief. We also donate a lot to our local food bank and we support the national program No Child Hungry. Other charities we sponsor are the ASPCA (I love animals) and the Dreaming Zebra Foundation that supplies low income and underpriviledged children with art supplies and art education.
I'm not telling you this to say we do enough because I think you are 100% correct, we can do a lot more! And we should and we will. I was asked to help this family and I find it difficult to say no when someone reaches out to me. I don't know the Kartchner family personally so I can't really respond to your comments about them, but sometimes I rely on my friends who know people and ask me to help.
I have honored your request and removed from our mailing list.
Much love and blessings for a safe and healthy holiday season,
Gina K.

It's just so classy to post pics of yourself in a bathing suit on IG for no other reason than just because you can. What has this world come to? Personally, since she's gone and done it and therefore opened herself up to comments, I think Rina is a bit fluffy for her age.

I totally understand that it must get boring for card companies/designers to design the same sentiments over and over again, but I agree that many of the alternate sentiments are very weird. I also have a hard time sending "encouraging" type cards because often the sentiments kind of sound like an order/admonishment. I find that The Stamp Market does a really good job with sentiments usually, sticking to normal occasions but adding a bit of flair with typography or thoughtful wording.

Which isn't all that great. I should exercise more. But I'd rather sit and scrapbook. And especially, "it's just so classy to post pics of yourself in a bathing suit on IG for no other reason than just because you can."
