I applied for a job recently that was, by all appearances based on the description, a basic para job with the school board. Apparently, it isn't. The job description didn't say a single, solitary word about needing to have any excel skills, nor even any microsoft office skills.
But I then got an email that requires a series of tests...things like answering questions through email attachments (with different instructions for each answer about font sizes, colors etc.) Um...okay. Easy enough.
Next email set of instructions requires me to schedule an in house excel test. Uh oh. I don't know a thing on how to do excel...except how to ask someone else to do it for me. (Previous employment was at a higher professional level where that was a viable option.)
So. Knowing nothing about excel, I thought maybe I could at least aquatint myself with the basics, enough to not embarrass myself? Does anyone have any ideas where I can find an online, free tutorial? Preferably an easy one that doesn't make me feel like I am too stupid to learn??
I have about three days. LOL

Only suggestions, have you checked You Tube, The Kahn Academy, the BBC have an learning section which might lead to an online course.
Good luck.

Alison.com also has online learning for free. They have different class levels also, so beginner, intermediate and advanced

Hi, Newbie here. When I saw your request I had to register and give you link. www.gcflearnfree.org/excel2010These tutorials are great. I have studied Word Processing, Powerpoint and am now learning Excel and Access Watch the short video tutorials. They will give you a good idea of what excel is about. Good Luck with interview.

There's also something called chandoo.org. No idea what it is like, actually I think someone mentioned it previously here.

The one on my computer is 2013 and I am guessing that the one they are using is older. I just hope that enough is the same that I won't be totally lost. Although I am sure I will be...so far, I haven't a clue what I am doing. My mom asked me if I was in a flood of tears or sailing along, I told her I am actually sailing along on a flood of tears. I am looking at all the links...hopefully I will find one that teaches the way I learn. So far, I haven't found it yet, but maybe by the end of the weekend I will figure out at least the basics. Thank you all SO much for taking the time to answer and give suggestions. It is kind of crazy-this job gave zero indication as to the fact that it would require this kind of skill set...and for what is essentially a just barely more than part time job with no benefits and barely above minimum wage.
