Hi everyone. I’ve been away from scrapping for several years. Back then I had every Cricut cartridge and always had a subscription for Cameo designs. Since technology changes so fast I am definitely out of the loop!
Silhouette Cameo - I have the first Cameo. Can you use the iPad to cut with it yet?
Cricut - I see they offer a subscription now and couldn’t find cartridges anywhere on their site to purchase. My entire cartridge library was linked to my account in Design studio. Do they offer new images like Silhouette does or is it just the same old designs that you get access to with the subscription?
thanks everyone!!! Karen

I can’t answer your question as to whether or not the iPad works with Cameo 1. That info may be on the Silhouette website. I use my Cameo 3 with my laptop.
Cricut offers more designs than what you had on your cartridges. I personally think that Silhouette offers a better subscription than Cricut, but you can buy new designs from Cricut. They definitely offer more than they used to. You don’t say what Cricut you have, but if you have the Cricut Explore, you should be good. You will have to update your software, but you do have options.
You can even download svg designs from many sites, including Silhouette, for importing and using with your Cricut.

You can buy images from Cricut. Many are $0.99.
If you buy a Cricut Explore Air, there is a slot to add your cartridge and link it to your account, so you can search by image type and filter to find what you own. It's amazing, as you will find images you didn't even know you had! I bought mostly alphas back in the day, but they often came with some images. Now they are easy to find.
ETA: For example, if you want a frog, you search by frog. All the images show up, then you can filter by what you have already purchased.

Also, you can use the Design Space app on your mobile device to use with any of the Explore Air machines and the ones that came after. I just ordered the Maker for Christmas, and I'm like a little kid following the tracking information. Have fun!

You cannot use the iPad with the Silhouette. At one time they had developed an app but it was pretty worthless.

I never used Design Studio. I used CraftRoom and linked my cartridges there. When I got an Explore, I used the same log in for Design Space and my cartridges showed up in there. You can use an iPad with Design Space though there are some limitations.
