I think that is so cool! It sounds like many people grew up in the same town and watched this go on over the 40 years, so it's an exciting event to them too. Looks like some of the neighbors participated in the building of it with him too. As far as it being in his driveway, was the driveway only out front or was it the kind that ran the length of the property? I guess he may have irritated a few people, but I'm going to pretend it didn't bother anyone and that they were all supportive. It is amazing and a beautiful boat! I hope he retires now and gets many years to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing this.

If we ever win the lottery, DH is going to build a wooden boat - a lot smaller boat than the one in the article.

He took a 12 year hiatus from working on it, but still, even 26 years is a lot of time to devote to a single project. I am just amazed at how it turned out. Just stunning.
