I love having fresh medjool dates at Christmas. I have always ordered them from eBay or Amazon, but the last couple years have been lackluster. The dates seemed old and not that super soft sticky fresh.
Would any of the Pea's have a recommendation of a great place to order really fresh Medjool dates?

I only use the ones from Walmart or Trader and I think they are dried. I'm not sure where to point you for fresh ones.

Have you tried your grocery store? They are available at all grocery stores here, plus Costco I believe.

TJ's would be several hours away, and that isn't happening any more The ones I have had in years past are magical! LOL I just can't seem to get the quality that I once easily ordered.

I'm in Iowa, and they do have them in grocery stores, but they are nothing like the ones I used to get right from the orchards (do they call them orchards?) ... they were so soft and fresh... they almost melted. YUM. The grocery store ones are a bit tough and dried out. OK in a pinch and great for baking, etc...

My uncle always used to send us ones from Valerie Jean Dates and they were amazing. They’re out of business now, but I’d look for other direct order options in the general Palm Springs area - that’s where the best dates seem to grow. I think he’s sent us dates from Oasis before that were also good.

Fresh ones have an extremely limited distribution/availability in my area. Dried ones I always find in the produce section around now, but at other times of the year I get them at the middle Eastern markets

The farm where I ordered fresh produce had them, but it was a couple of months ago. Sounded like it was available for a short window.

I haven't bought them, but a local natural foods store where I live had them. You might look for a co-op, or natural foods store were you live.

What a lovely holiday treat. I'm pretty sure Amazon doesn't do that in Canada.

Our Aldis has them. They seem to always be fresh.

My sister likes them. I purchased a "tub" at Publix in Florida - choices were organic and regular, pitted and not. Then we found a bigger tub in Costco in Albuquerque.

Best fresh dates I've ever had were in Oman, but that's obviously not happening right now! For fresh, I think you need to look for mail order from the Palm Springs area as busy suggested. Perhaps a company like Harry & David might have some as well?

You might look for a co-op, or natural foods store were you live. I live in a very rural area. Walmart is the height of sophistication in my neck of the woods, and that is about a 30 mile trip one way. So you mean you are getting them air-shipped from Israel? I didn't know companies did that. What a lovely holiday treat. The ones I have ordered were from California or Arizona. Thanks for everyone's recommendations and suggestions!

I can get the best dates here and I usually take some back to the US with me when I visit. They are not dry and hard at all. I believe the ones I get are imported from Saudi Arabia but can’t remember for sure. I will miss them when we move. Good luck!

I loved to go to date shops in Riyadh. Like a candy store, but dates! I also grew up in Southern California so dates were not a rare treat. That’s what I miss most about California, the over abundance of produce. When I think of all the avocados that fell off our tree and rotted because we couldn’t eat them fast enough... now I pay through the nose for avocados.

I buy them at Costco. They are fresh, soft and tender.
