I do 6x8 pages, 8x8, 8 1/2x11, and 4x4. I LOVE small. It's very easy for me to work with. I recommend using something like the Project Life app to put multiple pictures on one piece of photo paper. Or I use the Print to Size app to make photos of all sizes. I also use a lot of 2x2 photos. I personally love it. Here is a 6x8 two-page spread. You can do lots of things on a 7x7 page. Wow!!! I love this. I have to get my small pics, but I think this could really work. Agh, thank you. I used a sketch. I LOVE using sketches lately. Makes things go so much faster. This particular sketch was for a 12x12 page. It's very easy to adapt. Have fun, and I can't wait to see what you create.

I scrapped well over a decade only the 8.5x11 size. Coming up with a layout is the very worst part for me in making a page. I must start with a sketch or copy someone else's page.
Divided sheet protectors in 12x12 have been awesome for me! Also, my kids are past the cute stages and past the busy teen years. The pages have become more random and probably more like a photo album, BUT I can embellish a little 3x4 or 4x6 space to get my scrappy fix.
I find anything smaller than 8.5x11 intimidating, mostly having to do with photos and getting the right sizes printed.
ETA: I'm also not concerned about having a bunch of bulky albums. I take less photos now and rarely have 1 album a year.

I struggle with the smaller pages, too, unless I have a really tight theme to work with. I have used them for trips, with the idea of sharing an overview of the country or experience, or for a gratitude journal where I include only representative photos, or for meeting daily prompts in some way--with or without photos. But I really prefer 12x12 pages that give me so much more real estate to spread the photos out, decorate and layer and just play! I like gramma's idea to set up pages for very specific topics, like baby milestones or a child's school years.

All the parents have to do is drop on a couple of 4x6 photos and a small note. Easy peasy

@camille.bole does project life at 5x7 with lots of photos. She has a blog post and video about her setup. Maybe that will help you print small photos.

I echo everyone who said if it's not fun and you aren't having fun then it's not with forcing yourself.
A bit different way of looking at it, is maybe it isn't that you can't do 7x7, but that 7x7 doesn't work for this project.
I love 12x12 for my project life, but I found it was really hard and awkward and just not fun to try and do two different vacation albums in 12x12. I ended up doing them in 6x8 and love it and they were so much easier and really fun to put together. I had the same thing happen with a travelers notebook size. I did one, kind of year end summery in TN and really enjoyed it. After that I thought I'd do two Days in the Life that way and ended up hating up. I finished them, but I really didn't enjoy it. Both of them made me realize, at least for me, it's not that I can't do a certain size, it's just some sizes don't work for certain projects.
