I'm starting to get random diagonal stray cuts so I think I need to update my software. I found this YouTube video. Is this all I need to do before updating?

I always save everything to my hard drive and don't use my library. So I think the Export/Import should work. scrapnnana is a pro at all things electronic cutter related. Maybe she can answer.

I learned the hard way that you absolutely want to save your library to your hard drive before updating. I lost personal files because I updated without backing up my library first.
However, those stray cuts may also mean you need to calibrate your machine, or that you are using too much pressure. Sometimes it is better to cut twice and use less pressure. Too much pressure can make cuts go wonky.

Do I need to do the same with my purchased files from the silhouette online store? Or can those always be recovered/redownloaded?

Do I need to do the same with my purchased files from the silhouette online store? Or can those always be recovered/ It may depend on what version of the software you use. If you are using an older version, definitely export your library to your hard drive for back up. Newer versions of the software sync your library to the Cloud. However, I found out the hard way during a previous software update, that personal files may be lost during an update. That update also eliminated all my folders with the sorted files, so I had thousands of files that were all completely unorganized after that update. Silhouette support helped me get those back, including the files sorted the way they had been before, but my personal files were not recovered. Thankfully, most were individually backed up on my hard drive. If I had exported my library to my hard drive before updating, I wouldn’t have had any files lost.
