How frequently do you cut titles with your die-cutting tools vs. using ready- made thickers or letters? I was late to the die cutting party - resisted machines for years -- but now I have several, including the handheld Quickutz, and find myself using them more often than my large stash of letter stickers and Thickers (which bothers me because I would like to make a dent in that Thicker stash). So what do you reach for when you make a title -- stickers or your die-cutting device ?

I go in spurts. If I don't have lots of time to sit at the computer, then I'll use stickers/thickers. If I can't find the right size or colour, then I will cut out my title. Sometimes it's the title and sometimes it's an embellishment. It's just another tool in my stash. I've had it for so long that it's paid for itself many times over.  |

I would say that about 98% of my titles are done with my digital diecutter and the other 2% is done with stickers, stamps or something else. Stickers drive me nuts in general because half the time I don't have enough of the right letters to do what I want and I end up using my cutter anyway. As creative as people can be with all the leftover letter stickers, to me it just seems like a waste.

I'd say 8 or 9 times out of 10 I use my Silhouette. Since I got my Silhouette I have to remind myself to use my letter stickers. I prefer all the options that my Silhouette gives me. Although, it is nice to have a layout come together quickly when I use letter stickers. Apparently I spend a lot of time exploring all those options.

I have so many alpha stickers I usually go with those. I don't use my Cricut as much as I ought to and I only have a couple of alphabet dies.

I do try and use what I have in my stash first but sometimes there is just nothing that suits the project I am working on and then I cut with the cricut. I bought it pretty much exclusively for things like cutting alphas but I just find it a big pain to set it all up these days.

90% of my titles are done with my Silhouette and a good portion of my journaling too.

I have over 100 packages of Thickers. I also have a Silhoueete, explore, big shot grand caliber etc. I like to combine the titles with a combination of both things.

For titles, it depends on what I'm working on. If they are stand alone layouts, I like to use my stickers. If they are a group of layouts that go in a themed album (same event, start to finish), then I like to use die cuts. I still love my Quickutz, and I can whip out a title in no time with that. The standard old size of those dies have always been the perfect size for me.

It's funny because I think I have every alphabet type Cricut cartridge and used it like crazy, but lately I've used Thickers and other alphabets instead and have hardly touched my Cricut.

I usually go for the Thickers or chipboard alphabets first. I don't have many Cricut cartridges (especially alphas) and also it's just faster to pick up a product than to go to my computer, pick a font, and set up the title in SCAL.

My die-cutters! The only times I have used Thickers was when doing a layout for the LSS, and it was not by choice. I never had any interest in using them again, either.

I have a Big Shot and a Slice. I don't have alphabets for the Big Shot so don't use it much for titles, but I would say I use the Slice on about 50% of my layout titles. I probably use it more for titles than shapes, too.

So funny you should ask OP! I just wrote this on another thread! "Yesterday I reaquainted myself with Cricut Craft Room. When you don't own a Silhouette, you must make do! I used to cut titles on my Cricut all the time, but switched to Thickers/stickers. It's been well over a year since I have used my Cricut for scrapbooking!! I spent some time watching tutorials and making titles to cut later. " I also have a big shot (recent purchase) but no alphas. At the moment, I still reach for thickers and stickers and almost always both! I'm thinking even with the Cricut cuts, I will still mix it up. |

I have a big stash of Thickers but I find that often they don't fit in the spot I need them to fit, or the colors are off.

I need to use my silhouette more, I tend to use it in Project Life a lot more than I use it on layouts. I struggle with incorproating it in my layouts without it looking cheesy.

Even though I have a cricut, it is just so easy to use the quickutz to quickly cut a title. I probably do that more than anything else.

Interesting response. More often than not, we're heading straight for a die-cutting device, although several still prefer stickers/Thickers and some like both equally and together.

hmmm I use both and dont really have a rhyme or reason why. If I want a unique title I will use my silhouette and join the letters, etc. I also love buying titles at the silhouette store. If I have cute Thickers and its something simple I will use those.

Hmm... I haven't scrapped much in the past 2 years that we've been under home reno, only at a handful of crops. So for most of those, it's stickers all the way (or the layouts that are sitting unfinished because I *plan* to cut my title, but haven't done it yet!). I go to one 4-day crop a year, and there I will cut titles and whatnot. I pretty much exclusively use my gypsy for the cricut, and being displaced for so long has really cut down my productivity in multiple ways (not the least of which: where's the gypsy charger/where's the connecting cord/it's dead/can't find it...  ) In the last 2 months I finally got a new scrap space set up, and my cricut is front and center, so who knows what I'll end up using more once I get into a regular flow again? I have a pretty decent stash of neutral letter stickers (black, brown, white... occasional red/blue), and I almost always buy product in a collection that includes letter stickers. Who knows if I will get back into the cricut, since stickers are still easier? |

It's one of my scrappy purchase regrets.
I'll always choose the Thickers over the cricut.

I have the Cameo and after buying it quickly got rid of my Cricut and all my carts with absolutely no regrets. I hardly ever use it but my Cameo I use all the time, especially for titles. I will say I do tend to try and use up my supply of thickers and chipboard but honestly I don't go out of my way to buy them anymore, and if fact to me it feels like they make them less than they used to. Whatever I see seems to be old product, but maybe that's just me.
I also still have QK and my Cuttlebug and not finding myself using the QK dies much anymore either. I have it in my mind to purge most of those. I just haven't gotten around to figuring out how much to sell them for.
Once I figured out how to weld my letters together in cursive or put an under bar and weld so it's just one title, I have little use of doing those individual alphas anymore if I can help it.

I've switched to digi, but Quickutz was one of my first scrappy purchases, then a year or so later a Cricut. I have very few pages with stickers or thickers. I do have a few stamped titles, too.
