We use an artificial tree because I love the uniformity of the lights! But, last year I purchased a rotating tree stand and it made me LOVE my tree even more! I have it on a timer, so it rotates during the day and shuts off at night. I'm ready to put it up now! ETA: video link www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10201964642350558&l=470904500874491370

I've never heard of one of those. Does it revolve constantly or once an hour or something. We're a real tree household - the girls going out to buy it with dad is a favourite tradition

We are also a real tree family- I love the fact it is different every year, love the smell, the look- everything about it. I am wondering if we can have any tree at all this year though due to our new kitten!

Can't do real...allergic. Pre-lit all the way for us. Even though when a light burns out it can be a pain, I will NEVER go back to stringing lights on a tree. EVER.

The tree turns??!! like rotates around?? OK..that is one of the oddest things I've heard of!! Our cats would love it. ha.
We too have a real tree. Tradition for my dh and girls to go out and get it every wkend after Thanksgiving. Love the smell!!! and just the feel, and atmosphere of a real tree....only rotates if a critter is living in it, or the cats climb it. HA!!!

LOL if we had a rotating tree my Autistic son would stimm off of it!
We do artificial. 1 because we paid $90 for a gorgeous 7 ft tree that died 2 weeks after we got it and 2 because of ds' allergies.
We got our artificial 11 yrs ago. Looks real which we like. Non pre lit. We like to do that ourselves.

How do the cords from the lights not get tangled when it spins?

Ok, I'm trying to reply to all questions.
Real trees can also rotate. It rotates continuously at a VERRRRYYYYY slow speed. The base has an outlet that you plug your lights into, then the stationary part of the base has the end that plugs into your wall outlet. Let me see if I have a video.

I had one about 15 years ago. Made decorating with ribbon and garland easy.

We had a rotating tree when we first got married (11 years ago). I LOVED that tree! I loved that you could appreciate every ornament ~ none were hidden in the back.
When the base bit the big one, we ended up getting a new tree. I never thought to just get a rotating base. Hmmm.....

We're a real tree household - the girls going out to buy it with dad is a favourite tradition We go to my mom's house an hour away and pick out trees with my family. It's usually my parents, 2 sisters and their kids, me and my kids and my brother. It's one of my favorite family traditions

We have had a rotating tree for a long time. We keep the rotate on 24 hours a day it actually stops the cats from climbing in it. I love our rotating tree, you can get more decorations on it when one side isn't up against a wall. We have an artificial tree because of my allergies.

I love the look of the rotating trees but some of the stands sold here in the UK can produce a noticeable whirring sound when operating so we haven't ventured into buying one yet!

Thanks for the video Outspoken but I have to admit that that tree would never find it's way into my house Thank goodness we all like different stuff, I hope you enjoy your tree again this year

I love the idea of a rotating tree because I could see all of the ornaments, not just the ones in front. Hmm...I might have to check that out! Thanks for sharing!

LOVE your decorations! I have a snowman tree too, but I'm still trying to add to my ornaments to get enough on there. Yours is so nice, I want to just copy the whole thing!
As to the rotating tree- see above. I need the back not to be seen so I can put all my cute ornaments up front. I don't have nearly enough ornaments to be able to fill an entire tree. With yours though, I can see why you would want them to be seen. Gorgeous!

Real trees here too. That spinning tree would make travel sick I'm afraid.

I've had one of those rotating bases and I loved it! Then it finally broke and haven't been able to find another one. And I've never seen one for live trees! I'm looking this year!
For those wondering about the cords not getting tangled, you plug the cord into the base so everything turns together. No tangled mess!

I used to have a 12 ft tree but we moved to a house with lower ceilings. So, I've had to condense a lot. The rotating base made that easier!

I have a revolving tree also. SIMPLY LOVE IT ! You get to see all your ornaments wherever you are. I had a real tree for about 10 years and just went back to an artificial tree two years ago. I'll never go back cause I love my revolving stand so much. Can't wait to out it up ! Two weeks from Friday !! YIPPY !!
