Just watched this video introducing some fun ways to make card backgrounds with alcohol inks and yupo. The same results could probably be achieved with acetate. I have often put alcohol inks on a transparency and then used that on top of a white base to pop the colours.
This Paper Wishes Webisode introduces metallics to the blending. I like the way she used the applicator for a random background with them. Think I might try that on a sheet of acetate.
One thing I don't like about alcohol inks spreading out on a surface is the way they fence themselves off from each other. So a technique I want to try is the one where she used lots of blending solution, and then flipped one piece of yupo over on top of the spreading inks.
If you like what you see but have not used alcohol inks, she says that there is an intro video in the archives that you can check out.
And if you want to try your hand a mixed media in other ways, she has several on this site on using different products and techniques.

Thanks for sharing. I went to a class last year where the artist said she also uses photo paper instead of Yupo.
