I have no idea what the motivation for the explosion is but I hope this isn't the beginning of the violence from the right wing nut jobs. I don't expect the next month to go well. I hope that I am dead wrong.

I’m glad no one is serious injured.
What makes you say police were targeted?

FBI, ATF, every one is there. Acting AG says all DOJ resources are available. Not only did someone plan and do this seemingly to injure LE, they have caused hundreds of LE agents from all over the US to leave their families on an important holiday for many. Although many no Christians may have volunteered to work for others. CNN is coving it live. The will be another press conference at noon, but not sure what time zone. I think Nashville is EST. I think.

I’m glad no one is serious injured. What makes you say police were targeted? The article I read said that the police responded to a call of shots fired. Saw this RV (no indication of a shooter) that looked suspicious and called in the bomb squad. Blew up before they got there.

It’s possible, but it doesn’t sound like we know anything yet.

Nashville is CST. That area is less residential more entertainment (bars, restaurants) It's right down the street from the Wildhorse Saloon and one block over from the Batman Bldg.

I think it's more than possible but terrorism is terrorism. Someone close to me is headed there as we speak to help with FBI and CIA

20 buildings damaged, and only 3 people with injuries. One thing to be thankful for. The crazies didn't do this during the week when those streets would have been crowded.

So glad nobody died. I hope they are able find who set this and why. Broadcasting a message warning people to evacuate is so bizarre.

The Provisional IRA did this routinely during their bombing campaign. Yes, they did. They telephoned the police with a code word and the police knew which code words were real and which were hoaxes. Often in London my route home was detoured from the tube to a bus to avoid a problem.

UGH! Looks like they are finding human remains. Hopeful that this is no innocent bystander, They are saying that it is not likely because the police were all over trying to evacuate people. It is such a mess there.

I'm really impressed by the police officers who had enough presence of mind to get people out of the area. This could have been so very much worse. This whole thing really puzzles me and makes no sense, but then again, I don't think in terms of bombing anything so I guess it's good it makes no sense to me.

Not to diminish the police but the RV that exploded did have a loud recording coming from it that said a bomb was going to explode in 15 minutes and to evacuate. I can’t imagine the police disregarding that and nor evacuating people.

One witness has said it was almost 2 hours before it actually exploded, even though it said 15 minutes.

I didn’t watch the news but this sounds like an odd thing. Call the police and then have a warning about an explosion. Has anyone taken responsibility for this? Any reason at all? I mean I’m glad they had warning but strange.

I mean I’m glad they had warning but strange. It was the norm with the IRA and their long bombing campaign in the 80's so it's not an entirely new thing.

We live about 10 miles from downtown and were woken up by the entire house shaking from the blast- my initial thought was that it was an earthquake. I can’t imagine what it was like for people closer to the blast site. The building across the street from where the RV was parked is the AT&T service hub. It sustained major damage so there are massive 911, cell phone, and internet outages across the state and affecting other states as well. It has almost an anarchist feel to it- the warning which lead to evacuations so no intention to hurt people but the commercial/business possible target. I think the gunshots were a recording playing from the RV, perhaps to instigate calls to police and get attention. There is a homeless population in that area and I’m concerned that if there are human remains it could be from that vulnerable population. It’s just a mess. First the tornado in March, then shutdowns from Covid, and now this.

Having lived in Belfast (thankfully after things were mostly safer) I was thinking the same thing.

I can't wait for these terrorists (regardless of their beliefs) to be arrested and charged and convicted.
I detest terrorism. The world is hard enough without some people using force (of any kind - violence, force of wealth, etc) to make it even harder.

I wonder if the "shots fired" were a warning "shot" so people would look out and hear the recording. I read someone's account on facebook and I'm not sure people would have heard the recording warning. Can you imagine someone being able to take out of communication systems?
