This weekend I reorganized my clutch and smaller crossbody purses with the aid of these organizers. The shelf looks so much neater and I can easily pull out a single purse without rearranging the whole mess. I went with the organizers from Amazon because they were half the price of Container Store and held more handbags. The material isn't quite as heavy, plus the sides are a bit lower, but for something that is just sitting there I am happy. My next step is to organize the larger handbags that I keep in dust bags. I am going to make labels to put on the shelf edge below each purse as it is easy to forget what you have when they are hidden in the bags. That’s a great organizer! I just ordered one for myself. Thanks for sharing.

So, in the past 48 hours I've given away an electric pressure cooker, an air fryer, a NuWave infrared oven, a dehydrator, a vibration platform exerciser and an under-desk elliptical exerciser. Of course only half of it has been picked up already. I am doing all that to avoid my closet with half the clothes on the floor.
Who actually likes wire shelving? Anyone?
Funny fact, my coworker took the air fryer and dehydrator, and her apartment is tiny! I told her, "No give-backs!"

Who actually likes wire shelving? Anyone? Raises hand sheepishly. That said, they are the Elfa wire shelves with the rods attached for hanging clothes. The shelves for shoes, purses, etc are the solid Elfa.

decluttered my hallway by mailing the last two giant packages to new zealand. my daughter in law ordered a ton of clothes online, and I am happy to mail them. I timed it so I could park in front of the post office and there was no line..they had been sitting there for three weeks. got rid of a bunch of cardboard boxes sitting around.

Got the matching shelf (to the one shown up thread) put together and up on other side of TV. Didn't get a whole lot of anything else done as I was waiting for the scheduled pickup from FedEx THAT NEVER CAME!! I called and they promised tomorrow. Again. They are supposed to pick up a cube cabinet for my spare/craft room that arrived in the wrong color. Another thing I have to wait to arrive again.Want to get things done while I'm on a roll and before I hit another 'eh' wall. Or hurt myself again. Knock on wood. quoting myself to add: they came today and picked up the cabinet that was in the wrong color. and delivered the replacement in a DIFFERENT WRONG COLOR!! Ugh! screams into to pillow and just into the void of the empty house. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still in the process of utilizing my smaller space wisely. Today, in my attempt to clean out a corner of my space from folded up blankets, I got rid of a king bedspread, pillow shams, and dust ruffle. I put my extra blankets (that I use when I have company) in plastic bags and put them up on a closet shelf. My space is looking better so far. I still have a few "throws" I need to find a space for. I'm about "out" of space on the closet shelves! I found my duffel bag that houses my winter gloves and hats! And I still have time to use them, as winter isn't finished yet. I probably don't "need" 17 pair of gloves though,--so I'll probably thin them out a bit!!

Just how many "throws" does one person and a dog need? ? I think I had 15 or 16. Dog now has 2--and all I'll say is I got rid of a "few." I have TWO heated ones! (One was my husbands.) Three my grandkids made me (so no way can I get rid of them right?) and four I kept are those soft Sherpa ones that I love!! So I didn't decrease too many, but that is what it is!! I have all I kept on shelves in the closet, and not folded up in the corner piled on the floor. So I'll call that progress! Right?? One heated one, one my grandkids made, and the dog's 2 are in a basket at the end of the bed. (the rest are on a shelf. I still have ONE empty shelf--it's a short one though, so won't handle very much!!

Ugh! screams into to pillow and just into the void of the empty house. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, that is the pits!! I hope they get things straightened up for you soon. That is so discouraging. A friend of mine is going through about the same thing with a local furniture company. They delivered a couch that came in separate pieces, and it was too big for the space. One of the buttons on the back of the couch popped off after about a week. They were supposed to pick up one of the pieces (to make the couch smaller to fit in the space) and deliver a new piece to replace the one that had the button pop off. They finally delivered the piece to replace that one, and it's a different color (probably a different die lot). She is so disgusted. This saga started in October, and is still going on!! I think they are going to have to replace all the whole couch pieces now.

Finished the first of my 3 goals - finally all moved into my new Mac. There were some challenges moving files from the old dead Mac, and moving from Catalina to Big Sur, but it’s all done! Took way longer than expected.
eBay sales - I’m in a holding pattern. No more PayPal - my account had to be set up with the new merchant service. And I decided I wanted to keep that away from our regular account so had to set up a new one. Waiting for eBay to recognize the new account before I can post anything.
Craft room to be - not much progress here on my part. It actually looks worse than it started - every flat surface has something going on.
BUT - DH is purging now! He started with consolidating old hard drives and has moved onto the huge stash of computers, cables, drives, film and video equipment. Sunday he completely emptied a set of shelves in the craft room to be closet, so progress without me is the best!

The shelves for shoes, purses, etc are the solid Elfa. Me too, same brand. One of the things I like is the ability to look up and see what’s on them from my short height. And I don’t like the amount of dust solid shelves. I agree that they’re better for many uses and I will add one as time goes on, but I’ve had the same wire shelves for almost 30 years now. They go from home to home and get reconfigured and added to as our space grows and our needs change.

I find clearing stuff without a spouse around works best!!! I’ve created a monster. I now get DH to join me more frequently because he’ll talk me out of some things I was going to keep. And I have to brag...I regularly find items of his in the donate box we keep that he just decided he no longer needed, with no request from me.

I am in major purge mode because we decided to sell our house and want to list it soon- like in a month. We’ve lived here for 19 years. The amount of STUFF is huge. I’ve already taken a stuffed car for donation and have the car stuffed again. I’m trying to be really brutal with myself about items I have been hanging on to “just in case.” I had also lost about 45 pounds a year ago and saved all those clothes. I was able to let about 1/3 of that go so far. I find it hard because I still like most of that clothing...I don’t plan to need them again but the practical side of me has a hard time getting rid of them just in case.

One thing to think about is that if you do start regaining, if you have comfy bigger clothes to wear as the new ones get tight, there's less incentive to put the breaks on and tighten up the eating/exercise habits than if you stuck in tighter clothes until you either do so or go shopping. I think having those on hand makes it more likely you'll need them - at least that would be true for me. Also keeping the weight off for a year (and esp. a year like 2020) well done! Good luck with the house sale.

End of week update: So it’s a good thing I double checked Cricut design space before tossing my cartridges. 2 of my Disney ones didn’t transfer. I have a new ticket out to customer support on that one but I tossed the ones that were there. This is the rest of my list for the week: Floor in front half of dining room cleared 3 cricut a moved to garage - DH is taking the rollers out for something Shopping pantry/freezer M Tu Wed Organized pockets on basement door Condensed and tossed sunscreen and bug spray Purged Artist Trading Card supplies Moved 3D printer and totes
Today and tomorrow I will keep working this space. I have almost unburied my sewing machine. I have some projects to finish then it’s getting put away so I can keep purging, I really need the counter space to use for sorting. This weekend I hope to have a minimum of 2 Goodwill runs. The stuff piles up in the upstairs hallway, then gets moved to the dining room, then to the loft in the garage. I want to cull all of it together and get it out of here.
Next week is taxes. I have an appt in 3 weeks so he needs my paperwork in 2 weeks. Still waiting on W-2’s from 2 kids. I think one I’m going to have to fight to get because DS’s old boss is crazy.

I hope it all goes well, and that you love your new place when you get there. Moving is definitely hard!! I lived in my home since 1972, and just moved this past year to my son's MIL suite! Talk about downsize!!

I got rid of 6 pr of new underwear. I bought the wrong kind--ugh! (those will be replaced with the ones I was supposed to buy). Donated a sweat shirt, a summer blouse I decided I didn't like, a pair of pajamas, several pairs of socks, and a robe. (I have about 4 left!) Who needs 4 robes?? --but I like them! I might get through my sweaters today. I've had most of them for lots of years.

I didn't get the sweaters gone through--but I did straighten up part of the wall unit. I rearranged all my scrapbooks, put some of the odd shaped books on a different shelf. Although I didn't get rid of a lot, it LOOKS better in here!! I still have a long way to go!!

tentoes - I continue to be impressed by your decluttering, by your cheerful adaptation to living with family instead of in your own house, your perserverance! Only decluttered one thing today - installation CD for MS Office ... from 3 computers ago when I was using WinXP...why did I still have it?

I have this spice rack dh bought when we first got married. Full of McCormick spices. But over the years we replaced most of the jars with other stuff and it just looks random. So I ordered glass spice jars from Amazon and swapped it out.

I’ve been grabbing a drawer to clean out regularly for the past few weeks. Just 15 minutes or so at a time, more if I feel like it. I’ve managed to clear out half my kitchen so far! I’m very happy with my progress. Been pretty ruthless. It’s so nice to not have 20 unlabeled keys that were in the back of the cabinet. I matched all the ones to current locks and tossed the rest. And I labeled them.

I am in major purge mode because we decided to sell our house and want to list it soon- like in a month. I'm here to encourage you to be brutal. We bought a new house in Dec 2019 and moved in Jan 2020. Despite it being a larger house, we committed to moving a lot less into it. Our method was a vow to lay our hands on every thing we owned and make a decision whether it 'belonged' in our new vision or not. We got rid of a huge amount and have not regretted it. It's so freeing. And I love that our new home is just the things we carefully selected to keep in our lives. It really is the best feeling. So I'm here to tell you it's possible!

I finally made some progress. I went through the sewing, crochet, and knitting patterns that belonged to my mum and grandmother. I've only kept a couple of the crochet/knitting ones as I no longer remember how to crochet and can only do the most basic of knitting, and the ones I've kept are things I know my grandmother made for me when I was a young child. I kept a lot more of the sewing patterns, and know there will be future purges on these, but when I saw my grandmother's handwriting the sentimental part of me couldn't part with them yet.
