I spent the morning cleaning out my email boxes and unsubscribing to things that no longer interest me, deleting things I no longer need to keep, and organizing the emails I need to keep so they are easier to locate. I've started doing this, and am unsubscribing to emails as they hit my inbox. I'm already seeing a difference in just a week in the number of emails I'm receiving.

I cleaned out my pantry yesterday, washed all the shelves, tossed the expired food along with all those half used packets of stuff that were bought for one recipe, and rearranged it so the snacks are not the first thing I see.
Defrosting the freezer is on my list for today. We've eaten a fair bit out of it over the last few weeks but it also desperately needs a tidy so I can clearly see what I have.
While I'd no doubt benefit from having year long goals, there's a bit of uncertainty in life right now that is making me hesitant to plan too far in advance, so I'm going to continue to check in here when I can, and set my goals one cupboard at a time.

Lots of changes coming up this year so I definitely need a thread to keep me on track... DH and I are separating (mutual and for the best) so we will be getting the house ready to sell and then I will be moving 2 a 2 bed condo.... lids to get rid of as we are in a 4 bed, basement, 2 car garage home!! DD will be in a house for uni next year so some of the extra stuff can go with her.
Have lost some weight so actually got rid of a good bit of the too big clothes.... need to get rid of the rest.
Need to pack up Christmas (need to purge/sort but worry it would upset DD) may just leave it til she heads back to school
To be honest looking forward to a fresh start (and my fantasy of becoming a minamilist!!!

I’m in! Big goal for me is to tackle all the paper in the house. Last year I started going through the kids school papers. Kids are 21 and 26 and I had a box for every year of school plus 2 years of pre-school and kindergarten. Every year I would throw every.single.paper that came home in their box and then at the end of the year the box went up in the attic. I thought it would be hard to toss that stuff out, but after going down memory lane and keeping a couple special things each year, it was very easy to toss 98% of it - big job! I’m down to the last 5 boxes and hope to finish this month. Then on to alllll the other paper in the house.

Okay so I walked into our closet meaning to grab a few things to get my decluttering juices flowing but DH was also in a great head space to go through stuff today. So, in a couple of hours we went through the large majority of our closet and now have 5 bags stuffed full to go, either to friends/family, donation, or the trash. Due to the overload of donations we were even more mindful when deciding what to donate vs trash. Plus, we gathered a large bag of misc crap for the trash. He even said, all determined, I’m dropping it off this weekend,” like I’ve ever argued with that We already had a lot ready to go from just our day to day activities recently so this should be a good load! Now I feel less anxiety about reading all of your goals for motivation!

My parents sold their home last year in April and I got many boxes of memorabilia/photos/schoolwork/etc. as a result. Today I had the grand idea to make my living room a veritable crime scene while I sorted and organized into general timeframes and then have just started to (hopefully) ruthlessly edit out some of the stuff...because do I need a certificate telling me I passed a kindergarten piano class? Oh most definitely not.
Good luck to all! I'm cheering us all on!

motherlemur Paper is a never-ending battle for me. I try to let go as much as possible, but then I find myself in a situation where I am utterly glad that I have paper proof of something, and I get reluctant to part with papers again. Two weeks ago Walgreens swore up & down that I didn't fill a prescription for my teen there. Like, searched their computer systems, had zero record of a medicine that my teen has been on for two years (always filling it there). Luckily, by chance honestly, I had that paper they staple to the prescription bag, with the patient name, date, and med inside. That's how I proved my case.

We cleared out my clothes in our closet and took 5 bags to a donation drop off.
Hubby’s clothes are next. Then kiddos.
We did mine last week. Our plan is to have all clothes/shoes gone through by next weekend.

I had 2 binders full of old acrylic stamps that I never, ever looked at. I put the few nice ones into the donate box and pitched the old, yellowed ones.
I pitched one of the binders that had a tear in the cover and will donate the other.
It freed up a big space in a drawer in my armoire, so yay!
I have a 27 drawer vintage file cabinet in my scrap space. I am going to go through every drawer to see what else is hiding that I will never use.

Hi guys! Organization is one of the 4 areas of my life I want to focus on for 2021.
I'm not setting anything in place. I've learned over the years that I don't work well with deadlines. I just need to do as I see fit.
My first area of focus is the living room. Yesterday we took down the Christmas decorations. Today I will clear a spot in the basement where my DDs things can go so I can reclaim in yoga/meditation space in the corner of my living room.
I picked out a new couch yesterday and I planned where I want things to go. We are going to repaint and redo the entire living room. I have two months until my furniture arrives so I've got plenty of time.
Today I will also order a few things online for the living room. I've found a nice tapestry for my meditation space. I'm changing out the old one. It is my inspiration for the entire room. And I've found an area rug I like. So I will order that too.
Once I get my Facebook account back, I have several living room furniture pieces I'm going to list on marketplace. Its time to get rid of them.

Before I read all of your amazing goals for this year and accomplishments from last year I am going to think of my plan...for this afternoon In truth, general anxiety has really been taking its toll on me off and on the past few years and right now any goals feel like pressure, which just makes the situation worse. So I will take a little bit to think of a good goal for today and then come back and get motivated by all of you amazing women. Thanks for doing this again For us **GypsyGirl**! I get this feeling so, so much. I try not to think of it as a goal. And I try not to put any time frame on it. I just do what I can do when I can do it. I prefer to think of them as ideas. And I'm bad. Truly bad. I just the other day opened my mail. I hadn't opened mail in 6 months! Thank God for online bills. I had one ER bill from this summer that was unpaid. That was it. And I paid it. So don't get down on yourself. Not opening mail for 6 months is pretty bad.

I'll jump in! I got some great storage containers for Christmas decorations. They stack and will fit neatly in storage. Since they're not just big totes, I had to purge to get rid of what I didn't really love. You know, if you don't need it or love it-then get rid of it!
We're renovating and then moving into a larger home so my goal is to not take anything over there that we don't love!

I'm in. It helps me a lot to keep organization in the front of my mind. Over the last five years, I've done so much just a little bit at a time. I slipped a bit this past year, and I'd like to get back into it. DH and I started yesterday by doing the yearly cleaning of the book shelves in the living room. We were absolutely brutal -- anything that smelled musty or we had no plans to read again is out of here. I can officially downsize to a smaller shelf unit, yay.
Things I'd like to visit this year: My craft room and many many old photos. My kitchen- we're going to do a renovation, and I don't even know where to start. Going through my stuff will help with that. Get my finished attic fixed up as DH's office and our home gym space. Right now there are boxes of my mom's stuff all over the place. Our annual turn through the basement this winter. We do this every year, and it's due. Kids are both out of the house and we can offload some of their things to them. I can't even tell you how much camping stuff is down there, and neither DH nor I camp. Just because we have a big house does not mean we need to be the repository for four families worth of stuff.

I spent the last 2 days going through all the kitchen cabinets and labelling my foods with expiration dates, throwing out things I can't use, wiping down shelves, etc. It feels so much fresher and more organized. Made an inventory of what I have so I don't overbuy anything.
This morning I worked in my bedroom going through my clothes and came up with 2 bags to go away. Have much more to do but not bad for the morning of January 2 so far!

This morning I cleaned out all the food cabinets, pantry, fridge & freezer. I keep opening them up to peek at their neatness.
I also went through all the medication, and tossed anything expired or that looked iffy.
Mailed out a package that's been sitting for a week, and bought a roll of Forever Stamps. Now I'll have zero excuse for not mailing cards punctually.
I still want to match up cards to their birthday recipient for the whole year. It will take a lot of stress out of the process for me.

While I am envious of your vintage file cabinet, it's a good thing one doesn't live here. I am known as a master of getting as much stuff possible into any space. Multiple movers have commented on this ability - usually as they are sending for more boxes because they underestimated! Heaven only knows how much I could cram into 27 drawers! Once I get my Facebook account back Good luck with that! My secondary Instagram account is locked up - keeps wanting a code that never arrives. Haven't decided if it is worth dealing with. Mainly I use it for sharing things with my quilt group or to post photos for QAL since I keep my primary Instagram account private.

I organized my birthday cards, then put a Post It note on the envelope flap with recipient name & bday. I wrote a list of who to buy for still this year and will try to do it this week or next.
And I did something big (for me, anyway). I had a whole magazine holder full of important papers that needed to be filed. They've weighed me down with dread and stress for a freaking year, and I had them hidden on the floor next to my desk.
Well, i just organized them into the binder they go in, shredded what needed it, and got rid of the magazine holder (so I can't do that again).
I feel sooooo much better.

One goal I have this year is to go through the 50+ boxes of slides from my grandparents. Now that mom's gone, dad's itching to throw it all out. I want to go through them to pull out personal stuff first. They were part of a camera club that traveled so there's a bunch of scenery pictures that mean nothing but there might be more in there. Plus I want to find a couple to have larger prints made. I just need to convince Dad to let me take a box or two at a time before tossing.
We keep a bag of stuff that we don't need or want going. Any time it's full, it gets donated. No more "when we have a garage sale" storage.

Yesterday, I was looking for something in the fridge and commented that it was time to toss the leftover ham and while we're at it, let's toss out the old bottles of dressing and stuff. So the leftovers got dumped, a jar of spicy mustard from two years ago finally got tossed, drained and dumped out two jars for screws, and a couple of dressings were dumped.
Then DH said, how about the pantry?! Woot! Tossed a few things that were bought for one thing but not used up. Same with the freezer. We usually do a good job of using up frozen stuff and only buying what we'll use but things get past us so I hope we do this every year.

I'm finally organizing my creative work space. Where I do sewing and crafts.
Our new house has a very small third bedroom that was designated as the utility room, with the washer and dryer in the closet (one of the wide style closets). There are two windows that give a lot of natural light, and space for a 6' work table along with some free wall space for storage units.
I intended to put in a bunch of cube organizer units to hold all the stuff that's currently in plastic drawer storage stacks and Rubbermaid totes, but had to wait and save up to buy the rest of them. I finally got them and can work on getting the room in order now.
And all the storage I had been using in there will get used to organize the shed. So on warmer days we'll start that project too.

I do this all the time! It’s so soothing and puts a smile on my face. For the cards, going forward, I recommend keeping everything together in a box (I have used this one for years) and with it keep your stamps, a pen and small post-its. In the olden days when I used to be able to go to the store I would never buy just one card, I always saw some I loved for other people while searching for my current need and they always came home with me. So I’d put a post it with their name on the envelope at the top to remind me and just filed where appropriate. So easy to keep track of. And I’m glad I did that too, last year depleted most of my stash, including the cards I bought ‘just because’ and not for anyone in particular. eta: Ha, should have kept reading before I replied, great minds think alike!
