I have a few adjectives that don't include "happy": Healthy! Productive! Sociable! Energetic! New years to all of you I ended 2020 with a covid vaccine at 5:00 in the afternoon. The last one given in my region for 2020. I made history And I begin 2021 with the same fatigue, ennui, and teenage eye-rolling spirit that plagued me last year. I'm hoping events to happen in the next few months will let the optimist in me emerge, but I fear a difficult month or two ahead. I certainly rely on this place for camraderie and good news! (so yes, I stay away from NSBR ) I hope you'll all chime in here with questions, comments, encouragement or life chit chat this month! I need help to keep my mojo high. Being January 1, I do feel a tingle in my scrapbook mojo that life is new! A reminder to visit this thread and add some challenges for the month. It looks complicated, but it's not. Step 1 - decide on your challenges Step 2 - look at the list of categories and decide where your challenge best fits. No one is policing this. Best fit is fine. Step 3 - add the category beside your challenge. We are suggesting we limit the number of challenges you make PER CATEGORY to 2, just so we end up with a balanced mix of challenges. But again, no one is truly counting. When I listed a few this morning, it made me think a LITTLE harder whether it was a good challenge - instead of just listing all the products/techniques I could think of, I actually stopped and chose. Chit chat: Starting with a few New Years resolutions: 1. maintain some sort of work-out regularity. I belong to a gym and it both makes working out easier, and "forces" me to use it because otherwise it would a complete waste of money. But now that we're locked down, I have to make myself figure stuff out at home. So far: failure. So I'm giving myself a fresh start with the new year. . 2. work on editing and printing photos. I hereby resolve to have Christmas 2020 photos printed by the end of the month! 3. work on my December daily albums. I am behind - halfway done 2017 I resolve to finish that album in the next week. 4. play more with my family. They are old, and easily self-entertain, but we come together as family for games or movies, *if* we make the effort. Who else will share their lofty plans for 2021?

Happy New Year everyone! May your year be full of health, happiness, and lots of scrapping time. When I listed a few this morning, it made me think a LITTLE harder whether it was a good challenge - instead of just listing all the products/techniques I could think of, I actually stopped and chose. Yes, I found the same thing! It was quite interesting having to thinks about which 2 themes / products were most important to me this month. There were about 5 themes I had to choose from, so the rest I will keep for the coming months. And by the time I got to 8 challenges, I realised I didn't have stitching, so I'm hoping someone else will put that down. As for New Year's resolutions..... PPFFFTT! Oh how I remember the joyful, naive enthusiasm of this time last year! I made up a scrapbook book page of all my goals for 2020, but a little thing called COVID put paid to all that. I don't think I achieved a single goal on my list of 20!! I will state here that I have one scrapping goal, and that is to try and keep up with Project Life this year. It took me until December 2020 to decide on a format for 2020, so needless to say I haven't completed even one page of PL 2020! I was sitting there yesterday trying to decide what I was going to do for PL 2021, and I went onto The Lilypad site to see what was on sale. I was very excited to see that Just Jaimee is doing her Ready To Go Pocket Pages again this year AND she has changed it to Monday-Sunday instead of Sunday-Saturday!! Decision made!

I ended 2020 with a covid vaccine at 5:00 in the afternoon. The last one given in my region for 2020. I made history This is so awesome! Goals: I honestly haven't thought about personal, non-scrappy goals because I just want to keep slogging along until I can get vaccinated (which probably won't be until this summer or later because I'm low risk and live in a major metropolis (SF Bay Area). Maybe make more time to do the exercises I like to do, meaning getting my husband to do activities with our 5 year old while I work out and she won't bother me. LOL Scrappy goals: figure out a process for editing and printing photos. This is where I struggle so much. Once I get them edited and printed, I'm super motivated to scrap them, but the editing is soul killing to me lately and I HATE printing out photos that are not white balanced at the minimum. I know I need to get over that but I'm having a hard time getting over it.

Happy to be back in the challenge!
Ugh resolutions- I make too many! My core areas year after year are to lose weight and declutter/organize my house. This year I’m adopting “rework” as my word of the year. The missing piece for me often is that I make big plans and think they are magically going to get done! So I need to work at them. At first I felt that word was punishing, but last year I made some good strides in organizing so I just need to build on that and do the work.
As far as scrapbooking, mainly I want to print photos each month. That will keep the inspiration fresh.

It is one of the main reasons I stopped paper scrapping and started digital. I spent so much time pre-planning my layouts and cropping every single darn photo before printing them, it just sucked the joy out of it. I still have a ton of printed photos that are just sitting boxes, never to be seen again.

Happy New Year! Here’s hoping this year is better than the last.
I don’t have a ton of New Years Resolutions but I am hoping to scrap more, exercise more and possibly start a YouTube channel. Crossing m6 fingers I can handle the learning curve.

I had to contact grammadee because my name was originally on both the Joyful and the Diva lists. She told me I'm really, truly a Diva.
Congrats on the vaccine! The girl across the street got a vaccine because she works at the hospital (administrative though). I'm not sure about myself. I'm over 60 but not any conditions.
My December photos are all sent to the photo processors, so I'll get them soon, and then put them in my December Daily album. (Which is just the last section and same format as my Project Life album.
My resolutions are to get rid of the couple of extra pounds over my goal weight, to keep setting a walking goal each week, and to be patient with my family. My scrappy goals are to keep up with my Project Life album and my immediate cardmaking goal is to create a few Valentines for extra special friends and 20 for a care home.
All are welcome on kellyr21's Exercise with Me thread. It just helps me knowing someone is reading if I met the goal I set or not. All support, no criticisms.

AussieMeg, I never did jump on the PL bandwagon because I knew I'd fail at keeping up, and it is a project that seems best done chronologically. I envy those who have managed it. Sometimes I think I should try a monthly PL page to summarize the month, but even that feels like I'm setting myself up to fail. I have got my December albums, which serve as a "month in the life" once a year, and they are in pocket format, so I guess that counts. jediannie, I always feel so alone in my dread of photo editing but then I see SO MANY peas chime in when asked "what's your biggest barrier to scrapbooking". It would *almost* be nice to go back to film era when what you got what what you got. But can you imagine having 24 images on a roll of film (which cost money) and then having to take that for processing (which wasn't cheap)... it's any wonder we have only 1-2 pictures of an event! Also - can you imagine trying to decide what ISO to use before you put a roll of film in your camera? Wow, makes me realize how dependent we are on digital. jjpeapea, LOL, glad you are here! I jumped into kellyr21 s thread a couple of weeks ago, but then, Christmas... Now I DO need some extra help. I'm very worried that I'm letting it slide because it's so hard to motivate myself at home. I will pop over after work today and get in on the thread again. Thanks for the reminder!

Good morning! Happy January!
I have a lot of ideas in my head about what I want to do this year. But I'm keeping it real and calling them ideas instead of goals. I find the terminology makes a difference in my brain. There are a lot of things I'd like to try. But I'm trying them. The only thing I know for certain is I want to run 3 times a week. Running helps my mood tremendously. It's worth it to do so. I just need to find the wherewithal to get my butt out the door and do it.
Today it's beautiful outside. We got about 4 inches of snow last night. I'm just finishing up my cup of coffee and have snapped the YakTrax on my running shoes and I'm ready to go out there in that snowy wonderousness and just enjoy a nice easy run this morning.
I have a little organization project I want to do today and then I think I will retire to my craft room and start working away for January challenges.
I ordered pictures last night too. I'm hoping they are here by next week. I have to work this week and then I get a ten day vacation. I'm really looking forward to it.

In the "old days" I sent my film off to Seattle Film Works for developing. I ran across a couple of the old envelopes a while ago. The price for developing was $8.75 - for 24 pictures - had to be in the 80's / 90's. An inflation calculator tells me that would be $17.25 or $0.75 per photo today. And no ability to clean them up before developing. No wonder we don't have many pictures for back the.

I do miss those days, I was so much more intentional with my photo taking, now I just shoot a ton and delete the bad ones, then have to edit because I almost 100% shoot with my iPhone. If I were using my DSLR more I'd probably be more cognizant of settings but the mobile phone makes it so convenient! I also used to develop my own film, I kind of miss the smell of the developing solutions.

Wow gramma that really puts it into perspective! My cart came today and I spent over an hour going through a stack of old school papers and now my new cameo has a home. 😍 I’m a preschool aide and I can’t believe our break is almost over. Really dreading Monday.

Amazing, girl! I am a weather wuss. I "learned" to run in Vancouver aka annual average 50 degree temperatures. Now I live in Ontario...summer >100 with humidex, winter icy and cold. I just haven't been able to learn to embrace weather either way. I’m a preschool aide and I can’t believe our break is almost over. Really dreading Monday. Going back is so hard. Our region is in lockdown for another 3 weeks, so no preschools or schools here. but as a teacher, I don't think it's any easier to switch gears from in class (before Christmas) to virtual.

kitbop our preschool has been in person since august, but we are virtual for the next two weeks. Well have a daily zoom that I’ll have to help with, but other than that it will give me a chance to work on some classroom projects that get pushed to the side when we are busy with kids. My actual kids (middle and high school) have been hybrid for the last couple weeks before break and are going back hybrid for at least the next two. Crazy times for sure.

Good morning Divas! They put me on the right team...my kids call me Queena, lol. I haven't done this challenge before and I'll admit that my time to participate may be spotty throughout the year, depending on how much I'm working. Are we supposed to post our LO's to this thread? I'm not sure where we are supposed to put them (I got several done this weekend).
I have goals for 2021 (I hate using the term "resolutions"). Mine are:
*Lose 30 pounds - I finally had ankle/foot surgery in September, so I've been in a boot or cast for over a year, now I need to lose the pudge I found when I couldn't move around. *Complete 100 layouts *Have better work/life balance - 2020 has been brutal. I lead a large nonprofit, so we've done a ton of emergency assistance during the pandemic, operated 2 shelters for kids and we are going through a merger. I worked 60 hours a week since March, so I'm ready to finalize this merger and try to get back to a normal 45-50 hours a week. *Take my sabbatical - I was supposed to be in Spain/Portugal last May, but that was cancelled. So, if travel opens up this year, I'd like to go on sabbatical. We are essential workers, so we should be vaccinated by February.
I've been scrapping all weekend, so I'm sad to have to go back to work tomorrow. I did scrap more in 2020 than in a long time, I used that and some of my other artsy/crafty projects to help me stay grounded and recover from the pressure of last year. That and my faith have kept me sane.
Hope you all have a happy day!

shinyhappytina - we all post our layouts to the "january sharing" thread so both teams can enjoy. I really enjoy the sharing thread, although I leave most of my comments in the flickr gallery. I think part of your 30 pounds might also be 60 hour work weeks??? I know that I'm exhausted after a long day/week, and eat worse and have ZERO motivation to exercise, just want to do things that make me relax/feel happy like flopping on a couch and not moving 60 hours? I can't even imagine. Good point on "resolution" - I too think a "goal" sounds better. Experts tell us goals provide more motivation than blanket statements.

Good Monday morning, Divas! I got 7 layouts done this weekend. That was huge for me. On top of that, I managed to kick off my organizing goal for 2021 this weekend too. All in all, I had a pretty good weekend. I probably won't be scrapbooking this week at all, but I'm pleased to report that once I get through this week, I'll be on vacation for a week. I'm going to repaint my living room and do some scrapbooking too.

Happy New Year all! My goals for this year: 1) Stick with my new healthy diet (and hopefully lose weight along the way! Isolation and a few other things helped me add on extra pounds!) 2) Start a consistent exercise routine 3) Be intentional- in all things; family, friendships, homeschooling, photography 4) Read a book a month- I don't care what type of book, I just want to get back to reading for myself. 5) Scrappy goal- complete PL for 2021 and tell the stories! I'm so behind on the years between my third child and fifth that I've forgotten so many of the stories I wanted to document then! I just have piles of pictures and not sure why I printed them to begin with! This weekend I had a little downtime to scrap before we started up school again today. I got done five PL pages for 2015 and that brings me to September! That year had so few pictures for some reason, but it is making it easy to get the documenting done! shinyhappytina Welcome! jeremysgirl It sounds like you're starting the year off strong! What color are you painting your living room? I'm kind of in the mood to have something painted since so much of our home is just off white. We just painted our fireplace (Benjamin Moore's Dark Harbor) a few weeks ago and it helps change the room up, but there's still so much white!

When I bought my first digital camera, not long after they first came out, it would cost $1.50 PER PHOTO!!! to get them printed. I'd have to save the photos to a CD and take the CD to the camera shop, and they would send it off site somewhere to get printed. I'd have them back a week or so later. Insane!

True story - when I was 15 I took lots of film pictures because I had a crush on the also teenage film kiosk boy. I do love the freedom of digital to take lots and lots of pictures. I love taking pictures but I am actually not that good at it - DH takes great photos using my camera, so it isn't the camera. But I don't mind editing my photos getting ready for my pocket page album. It's part of the creative/soothing process for me.
I did home organizing yesterday, the can cupboard, the placemat drawer, the plastic container cupboard, the pen shelf. We swore never to buy another pack of stick pens ever again. Only nice smooth writing pens for us from now on.
Paper crafting goals for the next few days include working on my December pocket pages, making more Valentine squares, making a heart garland for my daughter (the hearts are already cut out on the Cricut), and making Valentines cards for a nursing home.

Yay for the new camera kellyr21! I too accomplished some home organization in the last 2 days jjpeapea. LOL about stick pens. We currently feel that way about mustard... I found some stuff (winter clothes DH forgot about), and feel fairly good about having got stuff done, although there is always so much more. I also got all 5000 photos off my phone and only my laptop for sorting/editing. And I finished editing all the camping pics from this summer, and have about 200 on a stick to take to costco this evening. DH will pick them up on his way home from work tomorrow. My arse is sore from all the sitting!!!

How are all the Divas??? I had a laaaazy weekend. Lots of sitting on the couch with a cozy fire. Football on TV. I worked on the December part of my pocket page album as well. I made notes to myself how I want Valentines for some select people to look, and I hope to work on those some day this week.
Only my scrappy friends will understand this one. Nine months ago I lost a rubber cling stamp out of a stamp set. I looked and looked around where I lost it in the family room. It said "Happy St. Patrick's Day". How often do you need that, ha ha but when one this is missing out of a set it drives me NUTS, so much so that I bought the same set all over again on ebay. Luckily I saved the set with the missing stamp, and now you know where this is headed - I found the missing stamp! It was under the kitchen sink with the cleaning supplies. All I can figure is I put a bottle of spray down on it and it clung to the bottle and ended up in the kitchen. So if any of my Divas need a Stampin Up "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set - I have an extra.

Hello, Divas! I am planning to be more vocal this month. Seems like time gets away from me and I don't get into my scraproom much. I did finish 9 cards yesterday for the Sheetload Card Challenge. I posted them on that thread. I am working on a b-day card for my DSIL. He keeps my computer running and is always so helpful. I have never made a never-ending card until today. It was fun to do, but I learned a lot of things I would do differently next time. I'll post it in the Sharing thread. gramma, your explanation of the difference between then and now, and digital vs. film was perfect. I loved taking photos but hated to see my hard earned money go to developing only to find that they were not very good prints. Thanks for the walk down memory lane! I'm off to try to find the top of my desk under all the paper!

Morning Divas! I'm having a fun vacation week. I've just been putzing around my house crafting. I've finished up two crochet projects. I've done two layouts. I'm hoping a scrappy kit comes in today's mail. I am just crocheting this morning. But then I will get in the craft room this afternoon and scrap a bit.
And I can't remember who asked about my paint color for my living room. I've narrowed it to 4 buttery yellows. But I've got a new tapestry coming for my meditation/yoga space. And I want to see my colors with it before I decide. It was supposed to arrive last week. And I thought I'd be spending my vacation time painting but it hasn't come yet. And I can't say I'm disappointed.

I have never made a never-ending card until today. I've never heard of this - I just ran to the gallery and it's so cute! Fun to have so many doors to open! I've narrowed it to 4 buttery yellows. We did a buttery yellow in the basement where there are no windows and it really helped the mood down there. It's SO HARD to pick a final colour!!! We need to pain very very badly in many rooms of our house but there hasn't been time nor energy in the past year, so we live with chipped corners... I have been plugging away at my DD project, almost done Dec. 25 itself (which takes several pages of course), so almost done! Tonight, DH has asked me to make a sympathy card for a co-worker of his I don't like making these even when I know the person - it will be harder to make one "second hand" IYKWIM.
