I just gave away our "special access" tickets for the concert tomorrow night. It was a special section next to the stage roped off for Team RWB members. The thought of fighting the crowd made me so stressed that I decided it wasn't worth it. I hate, hate, hate crowds and the thought of trying to metro in and out of DC tomorrow night gives me hives. I so hope I don't regret it. It looks like it will be an awesome show, though. A couple of my friends think I am crazy. Does anyone else abhor crowds so much they will skip something awesome to avoid them? Dang, I feel old.

I can't relate when it comes to crowds, but man, what an awesome concert! I hope whoever you gave the tickets to appreciates them!

Kymberlee, we wouldn't have gone either. Crowds and all those people on the Mall is why we don't go down for the fireworks on the 4th, even though fireworks are one of my favorite things. It will be an amazing concert, but we will watch on TV.

I saw all the special metro signs today and said, nope, not going. Just the thought of the gates opening at 10 and the concert not being until 7 made me have hives. I'm sure it will be awesome!

We went to the inauguration (it took is well over two hours to walk well under two miles to make it to the metro and stand for yet another hour!) and DC was a favorite for fireworks before I moved to the Midwest with the concert on the mall. I'll be the odd one out--we always know there will be crowds, but the experience in DC is always worth it for us.

We're not going tomorrow, either. Instead, we will be at Quantico's National Cemetery at 8 am to set up for the ceremony. It's always a crazy busy day.

That is an amazing lineup! I hope it is a great tribute to our Armed Forces.

I'm glad I'm not the the only one. I just can not deal with the crazy. Instead, I think I'm going down in the morning for a run around the monuments. Early morning. Very early.

I don't blame you one bit-sounds like it would be an awesome event but a nightmare commute-wise. The last time I went to the 4th of July on the mall was when the Beach Boys performed-I was young and didn't realize what a crazy crowd was there. Of course, it was sooo long ago most of what I remember is the crowd drinking and "smoking".

I have no desire to go down there. The sheer number of street closures will make all travel around there impossible. That is why we don't go see the fireworks in DC, we will find somewhere on the VA side to see them.

I wanted to watch this, but as far as I can tell, it is only being broadcast on HBO...does anyone know if it is being simulcast elsewhere?

I wouldn't have missed that for anything, but I'm sure there's things I won't do that other people would.
I have a friend who is a high muckety-muck at HBO and she's there now and just texted me some pictures from the rehearsal. Bruce, of course.

If I had special section seats I would loved to go! But to get there hours early to stand in the cold, no way. I think they have a great line up and it's an awesome opportunity to see these artists for free. It's no different than watching the fireworks. Plus security will keep it safe. I skipped the inauguration because it meant standing in the cold for hours watching a screen, I have a screen at home.

My sister is going. She works at Smithsonian and will just stay in the city after work. She is very EXCITED to go but she is also working clean-up afterwards at her museum so it will be a LATE night for her. I talked with my brother a little while ago and he was headed to Maryland to stay with our brother in law (advanced stages of MS and needs round the clock care) while my sister goes to the concert. Then he will head back to Virginia Beach at 3 am for work. Nice brother!

Well last night my neighborhood could clearly hear the music from the "sound check" that was going on. I know that's what it was because, according to our the local police many people called to complain about loud music from neighbors. lol. So we're all hoping that the wind will be blowing the right way and we'll be able to hear it. Otherwise I'll be watching on TV. There is no way in the world I'd ever go down there with all that crowd and sit around for hours and hours and HOURS before the concert even started!

It's such a beautiful night that the crowds are sure to be huge, too. I hope everyone enjoys it-what a great tribute to our veterans!

It looks like a lot of fun. I'm getting posts on my FB feed, and our seats would have been amazing. Still glad we aren't down there, though. They are saying it will take hours to get everyone home after the show, and my DH has to get up at 4am to drive back to Carlisle in the morning. I actually wish we had gone down last night to watch rehearsals. That would have been cool, and we wouldn't have had to fight the crowds. It is a beautiful night for the show. anxiousmom, I believe that they are unscrambling HBO tonight just for the show so if you have cable, you will be able to watch it.
