Capitol rioter couldn't fool Feds by restoring iPhone factory settingsRay Hartmann April 27, 2021 Jeffrey Register was arrested by the FBI Tuesday after discovering that the feds understand technology much better than he does. Register, 38, of Fernandina Beach FL, surrendered himself to face trespassing and disorderly conduct charges in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot. Register had initially denied he was there when interviewed February 24 by an FBI agent. But when confronted with photographic evidence, Register "admitted that he deleted photographs from his phone and claimed to have 'factory reset' his cellphone in order to, in his words, delete what might be proof that he entered the building," according to the FBI complaint. It turns out the denial strategy was no match for the FBI's rather chilling ability to track suspects, as laid out in the complaint: "According to records obtained through a search warrant served on Google LLC, a mobile device associated with *******1982@gmail.com was present at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. The name associated with that account, according to Google, is Jeffrey Register and the account's recovery phone number is … (Complaint is linked in the article: www.rawstory.com/capitol-insurrectionist-arrested-2652801229/ Yes, resetting the phone to factory settings doesn’t do anything about the fact that he had “location” turned on on his phone and so he was tracked - not just by Google, I will guess - wherever he was with his phone that day, leaving digital footprints all over the Capitol building and wherever else he was. He would have had to have his cell phone turned off - because even with “location” turned off, the cell phone will ping cell towers, and, since he was using it to text, it was actually using local cell towers - to not leave digital footprints that won’t be erased simply because you wipe your phone at a future date. I’m far from a technology wiz and even I understand that.

CONVICTION (related)! (CNN)Brendan Hunt -- whose father is a retired judge and who allegedly threatened the lives of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, now-Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez -- was found guilty of one count of threatening to assault or murder US officials by a jury in Brooklyn federal court on Wednesday, according to the Eastern District of New York. Federal prosecutors charged and tried Hunt, the son of retired New York City family court judge John Hunt. Brendan Hunt will be sentenced in June and faces up to 10 years in prison, the Eastern District said in a statement. Hunt took the stand in his own defense on Tuesday, telling the court that he didn't really mean what he said in videos and messaging apps about killing elected officials. Hunt testified that he didn't think his rhetoric about killing elected officials could bear real penal consequences because he'd seen the prevalence of "kill Trump" rhetoric, especially from celebrities. Mark Lesko, the acting US attorney for the Eastern District of New York, praised the trial's outcome on Wednesday. "With today's verdict, the defendant is now a convicted felon, not for his repugnant, racist rants, but because he threatened to attack and kill members of Congress to prevent them from carrying out their constitutional duties, and that is a federal crime," Lesko said in a statement. "This Office will not tolerate threats of violence against public officials who are entrusted with upholding the Constitution." Prosecutors argued that Hunt had posted videos of himself at his Queens home in January discussing the January 6 riot at the US Capitol, threatening to kill senators and encouraging others to go back to the Capitol on Inauguration Day and take their guns. www.cnn.com/2021/04/28/politics/brendan-hunt-guilty-threatening-assault-murder-members-congress/index.html

This is one of the first guys I saw clearly in the videos Jan 6th... Sean David Watson thought he'd make a splash with co-workers by showing off cellphone videos from his participation in the January 6 Capitol riot. It turned out to be a bad day at the office, however: One of them tipped off the FBI.Watson, of Alpine TX, was arrested Wednesday by the FBI with the help of that evidence. In its criminal complaint, the agents also quoted another witness as having heard Watson displaying his videography with the boast "I fucked shit up." The FBI stated that Watson first denied his participation when interviewed by agents on January 19 but had changed his story by February 4 when the federal officials raided his house and seized his cellphone with a warrant. The FBI said it found texts, photo and videos on Watson's phone from inside the Capitol. "I am fine. I was one of the people that helped storm the capitol building and smash out the windows. We made history today. Proudest day of my life!" Later that day, Watson texts, "Got some videos and pics will share them when I get back." ** "The Capitol Police are the ones who attacked us." "Watson says it was when Trump supporters were tear-gassed and hit with batons that they decided to storm the Capitol. ** www.rawstory.com/sean-david-watson/

Another one. National Guard from Wisconsin. (CNN) The Justice Department charged a soldier in the Wisconsin National Guard for storming the Capitol during the January 6 insurrection.
Abram Markofski and an associate allegedly traveled to DC together to attend then-President Donald Trump's protest against the certification of the 2020 presidential election. After the rally ended, investigators say Markofski and his associate walked to the Capitol and spent about 40 minutes inside the building. Markofski has been charged with four federal crimes, including violent entry or disorderly conduct. He has not yet entered a plea. www.cnn.com/2021/05/05/politics/wisconsin-national-guard-us-capitol/index.html

Justice Department preps plea deals for rioters from viral video of cops trapped in Capitol tunnelBy Marshall Cohen and Katelyn Polantz, CNN Updated 4:07 PM ET, Tue May 4, 2021 Washington (CNN)The Justice Department is preparing to offer guilty plea deals to four Capitol rioters who are accused of trapping police in a tunnel and attacking them with chemical sprays and firecrackers. Federal prosecutors said at a court hearing Tuesday that their supervisors recently approved plea offers in the case, which revolves around one of the most violent clashes from January 6. A viral video of the incident shows a police officer shouting in pain while getting crushed in a doorway. Many of the Capitol riot cases are expected to end with plea deals rather than trials, and attorneys have recently said in court that talks are beginning. But even with the more than 400 defendants charged in federal court, few cases are currently in their endgames. Only one defendant -- an apparently significant cooperator against the extremist Oath Keepers group -- has already pleaded guilty. Several other defendants in talks with prosecutors aren't yet ready to make deals. In the tunnel violence case that was in court on Tuesday, plea deals will be offered "in the very near future," prosecutor Jocelyn Bond said. Four men were charged in this case: Patrick McCaughey of Connecticut, David Judd of Texas, Christopher Quaglin from New Jersey and Tristan Stevens from Florida. They pleaded not guilty. Federal Judge Trevor McFadden ordered McCaughey's release from jail during Tuesday's hearing, saying there isn't enough proof that he attacked police, even though he clearly "committed various crimes" at the Capitol that day. Prosecutors specifically accused the other defendants of using chemical sprays, firecrackers and riot shields to assault officers, and two of them are still in jail. In another case in court Tuesday, against a father and son who carried the Confederate flag inside the Capitol, another prosecutor acknowledged the Justice Department was able to make a deal in the case but still needed more time to hand over evidence to the defense team. more at link: www.cnn.com/2021/05/04/politics/capitol-riot-guilty-plea-talks/index.html

Too bad mom gossiped! Another one caught! On Wednesday, The Daily Beast reported that a New Jersey man who participated in the violent invasion of the U.S. Capitol on January 6 was nabbed by the FBI because of a conversation between two grandmothers — one of whom happened to be the man's mother. "Authorities say that days after the insurrection, the mother of Robert Petrosh Jr. of Mays Landing told her friend that Petrosh had been one of the mob who broke into the Capitol building," reported McCaffrey Blauner. "Her friend then repeated the gossip to her grandchild. In turn, the grandchild turned the information over to the FBI, authorities say." Petrosh faces multiple charges, and was released on $50,000 bond pending trial. www.rawstory.com/capitol-rioter-outed-bragging-mother/Oh and he was another one from NJ! Glad he was turned in, we do have some good people!

This reported by his proud wife! Unlike so many other Trump supporters storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6, Gary Edwards apparently didn't take to social media to brag about his exploits. But his proud wife Lynn Feiler Edwards did.
Edwards was arrested Tuesday by federal authorities in Churchville, PA, and "released with standard conditions," the Department of Justice reported. Here's what Mrs. Edwards posted on Facebook -- revealing that her husband had been inside the Capitol --and thus providing a lead to the FBI: "Okay ladies let me tell you what happened as my husband was there inside the Capitol Rotunda. There was a small group of young men dressed in military garb who yelled "we r going in!" They broke the barricade down, ran up the steps, broke a window and climbed in. They broke some furniture. Then proceeded to storm the floors. The crowd followed to stand on the balconies. When this happened there were police milling around doing nothing even after the breech [sic]. Gary walked around the back of the building and climbed the stairs walking right into the rotunda. He stood there and heard and saw teargas blasts. The police were right next to him as Gary poured water on their eyes. He stayed to chat w the police who were calm. Prior to Gary getting in evidently one woman was shot. . . . And there is more to the story in the link www.rawstory.com/gary-edwards-capitol-riot/

I'm glad that they are not getting away with it. I hope there are more arrests/convictions. So many people think they can do whatever they want and then say "oops...my bad...didn't mean what you thought I meant"

FBI is still tracking and arresting the 'worst of the worst' who stormed the Capitol: report Sky Palma May 06, 2021 The arrests of people who participated in the Capitol riot on Jan. 6. are still ongoing four months after the event. According to one law enforcement official speaking to NBC News, they're not done "rounding up the worst of the worst." "We're not slowing down," the official said. "More than 440 people have been charged with taking part in the Capitol siege, coming from all but five states — Mississippi, North and South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming. The largest number come from Texas, Pennsylvania, and Florida, in that order," NBC News' Pete Williams reports. "Men outnumber women among those arrested by 7 to 1, with an average age of 39, according to figures compiled by the Program on Extremism at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. A total of 44 are military veterans." www.rawstory.com/fbi-capitol-insurrectionists/

Don't know how we missed this one. Arrested Capitol insurrectionist was part of presidential helicopter crew for Marine OneSarah K. Burris March 11, 2021 According to military records obtained by CNN, John Andries, who was arrested in February for his role in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, had served as part of the crew for Marine One during George W. Bush's administration.Records show that he "served in the Marine Corps from 2004 to 2009 and was assigned to the Marine Helicopter Squadron One, the unit responsible for transporting the president, also known as HMX-1," said CNN. "Andries was not a pilot, but his records indicate he was a Helicopter Crew Chief." "Prosecutors say Andries, 35, breached lightly-protected barriers outside the Capitol and entered the building through a broken window," said CNN. "Video footage shows him facing off with police inside the Crypt, in the basement of the complex, getting "within inches" of officers but not physically engaging with them, prosecutors said." ** There were two tips sent to the FBI about Andries. He has pleaded not guilty to five federal charges: entering a restricted building, disorderly conduct, violent entry into the Capitol, impeding passage through the Capitol and unlawful demonstration at the Capitol, the report said. www.rawstory.com/marine-one-crew-arrested-insurrection/

Arrested Capitol insurrectionists almost entirely older white males from areas fearful of minorities and immigrantsDavid Badash, The New Civil Rights Movement April 06, 2021 "Fears that the rights of minorities and immigrants were crowding out the rights of white people" After Donald Trump won the White House in 2016 many among the pundit class insisted voters handed him the presidency because of "economic anxiety." In reality, it was racism. The same apparently holds true of the MAGA insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6 and got arrested. www.rawstory.com/arrested-capitol-insurrectionists-almost-entirely-older-white-males-from-areas-fearful-of-minorities-and-immigrants/

Texas, Pennsylvania, and Florida, in that order," I'm not surprised by Texas and Florida. Pennsylvania? I know there are rural parts that are definitely pro-Trump. I guess knowing the size of the state and the demographics, I would think it was a lot more Democrat. Then they come in number two?

If you go to the article it is the same picture that goes with another article, I don't know which one is the right person in the picture, but two differnet psople have been arrested. ‘Anyone telling you this was some kind of coup is telling you lies,’ said man arrested for role in coupRay Hartmann May 10, 2021 John Maron Nassif was arrested today by the FBI in connection with the January 6 Capitol riots, with the help of Facebook posts that "friends" had captured before he deleted them. Nassif, of Winter Springs FL, has been charged with unlawful and violent entry and disorderly conduct charges. Nassif was reported to the FBI by two witnesses to his Facebook account. But in his telling on Facebook, it all seemed much ado about nothing: "I found myself inside the building. The Rotunda was nearly filled with people. No was fighting or being violent. More pushing and I decided to leave. It wasn't until I was walking back that I heard a rumor someone had been shot. It wasn't 'til I got back to the hotel room I learned the specifics. Anyone who is telling you was some kind of coup etc. is telling you lies." ** The FBI complaint stated that one of the witnesses against Nassif describing seeing a video in which his voice can be heard indicating he was inside the Capitol building. Another witness identified Nassif from photos shown by the FBI. Nassif is expected to appear today in federal court in Orlando, reports WKMG-TV News 6 there. The station also reports he is the 16th suspect charged from central Florida. www.rawstory.com/anyone-telling-you-this-was-some-kind-of-coup-is-telling-you-lies-said-man-arrested-for-role-in-coup/ THIS link will take you to link with another article on Nassif with a good picture of himwww.rawstory.com/florida-man-bragged-capitol/Sean David Watson thought he'd make a splash with co-workers by showing off cellphone videos from his participation in the January 6 Capitol riot. "As the despicable GOP whitewashing of the Jan. 6 insurrection continues apace, House Democrats are set to force a vote on the creation of a commission to examine the assault. If you want to see why this should throw Republicans on the defensive, watch two videos. The first video shows D.C. police officer Michael Fanone angrily telling CNN that this GOP whitewashing is made up of “lies” and “bulls--t,” and that it’s “disgraceful.” The second video shows Rep. Andrew S. Clyde (R-Ga.) smugly refusing to back down from his widely circulated suggestion that Jan. 6 was akin to a “normal tourist visit.” In a surprising bit of good news, House Democrats just announced a bipartisan deal on the makeup of the commission to scrutinize the attack. It was negotiated between the Democratic and Republican leaders of the Homeland Security Committee." www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/05/14/cops-anger-gop-lies-about-jan-6-should-put-republicans-defensive/

Were people really flying in from Hawaii and Alaska for a “spontaneous” insurrection? I think I’m confused about how long this plan was in the works.

Gee, I've never opened this thread until now. I assumed that it was filled with pics of Congressmen (& women), etc. I'm so sad that my Congressman has been spewing the MAGA crap since November~he used to seem to be very bipartisan, helpful and caring.
I hope that all of these criminals and people in gov't are all caught and jailed. This is ridiculous!

So... The doubters in Congress will have proof that there were guns in the Capitol Jan 6th!! Pro-Trump rioter carried semi-automatic handgun into the Capitol during Jan. 6 assault: Court documents One of the insurrectionists made it onto the U.S. Capitol grounds with a firearm, according to a new court filing. The U.S. Department of Justice filed a superseding indictment alleging that Christopher Alberts was carrying a Taurus G2C semi-automatic handgun as he left the Capitol following the Jan. 6 riot, contradicting claims by Republican lawmakers seeking to downplay the threat posed by Donald Trump. www.rawstory.com/christopher-albert/
