I'm curious what pieces of mainstream media you've found that feature scrapbooking! My family and I watched "Up" tonight and scrapbooks are a pretty major focus/plot point. I'm SURE others exist, but I figured y'all would have better suggestions than me! I already have a spotify playlist about it with music-related items, but I'd love to hear more suggestions for that as well if you have 'em!

Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler's Parks and Recreation character) is big into scrapbooking.

Lol As soon as my husband gets home from rucking, I’m showing him this and telling him it basically means Leslie and I are clearly bffs (after Ann of course) and that he should take me to Michaels to celebrate our friendship! (That is a long, run-on sentence, but my tea hasn’t woken up my brain yet so I’m not fixing it. Sorry, grammar people.)

Hugh Hefner always intrigued me (not in any 'attraction' kind of way). I love how specials about him always spent time on his scrapbooks.

Movie "New In Town" with Renee Zellweger. I'm pretty sure this movie was discussed here before. Typical big city woman goes to Midwest factory to look at ways to save money/RIF workers/close busness and the simple womenfolk in town do things like scrapbook, wear sensible winter clothes/shoes, and serve hot dish. Midwestern ladies would not be caught dead putting four people at that tiny table in the kitchen to scrapbook.

I enjoyed this movie but I laughed at the thought of sharing that small table to scrapbook with 3 other people. I need a bigger table than that for myself!! I clearly missed my big moment to become a movie consultant. 🤣

There's a scene in season 2 of "Cobra Kai" where Daniel and his mom look through a Creative Memories scrapbook.

The line where one of the women asks her if she's a "scrapper" has been quoted in my family ever since the movie came out. My sister and I will still joke "are you a scrapper?". Something about the way the woman said it just cracks us up. (We had just started scrapbooking when tge movie came out)

I have a new sort-of-scrapbook sighting in the media. The new Wham! documentary on Netflix is built around the scrapbooks that Andrew Ridgeley’s mum kept and it’s really fun and nostalgic. The scrapbooks she made held clippings from magazines and newspapers and other ephemera. There were a lot of books in 4 years of the band - I think 25+! We don’t see her or the books themselves but they’re used as graphics to divide up the band’s story. It’s also a really heartwarming documentary if you were a fan of the band or George Michael. I really enjoyed it. ETA: from this article in the NYT www.nytimes.com/2023/07/05/movies/andrew-ridgeley-wham.html

It's been mentioned already, but I love how scrapbooking is incorporated into the animation of the Trolls movies. It's delightful.

I recently read a news article about a 100 year old that was found in the evidence room of a sheriff's office. They were able to track down the family it belonged to and return it! Kim Kardashian also scrapbooks. It was featured in her 73 question Vogue interview, if I remember correctly. Just like her taste in decor, she has a very streamlined, minimalist style to her scrapping.

I remember in the Disney show Jessie, her bellman friend mentioned that his mom turned his old bedroom into her scrapbook room. 😉
