Just a informational bulletin to watch your credit card statements if you made any JA purchases over the holidays, or on the New Year's free shipping day. Before I went on my freeze, I made one purchase and have now been informed my credit card was hacked-my card now has one fraudulent charge on it for almost 100.00, and 2 "pending dips"-they tried to use it for .78 and .42, likely just to see if it was still open.
Grrrr.....

That sucks. Was it an in-store purchase or online?
Not sure if that makes a difference in terms of who's vulnerable.

Oh no. I'm so sorry.
I made several online/curbside orders over the last 2 months.
Did you receive the information via email?

No, it's that I have a credit card I use specifically for online purchases, and after being on the phone with the credit card company for about an hour and a half, they determined that this would have been the only point of compromise and they saw something concerning in the way the following transactions (that I did not make) followed this one and tied to it. They felt it was tied to the JA purchase.

I have not bought at JA lately ( lucky me ) but I’m convinced that I have to get the ‘seperate’ numbers for online shopping that my cc offers.
Such a pain to remember all that but I guess I have to look into it.

Ugh, that sucks. It sounds like the credit card company caught it? I've had my card compromised a couple of times, never found out how, but both time the banks caught it and let me know, and never actually posted the charges.
It's always a good reminder though - never use your debit card for online purchases because if this happens you might have to wait a week or more for a new card to be issued, and they can potentially drain your account before the bank notices and reverse things, which can f- up all kind of bill payments. Know which things you pay from which cards so you know which accounts you have to update when your credit card gets replaced. Giant PITA. And it sounds like having an online purchase only card is a really smart idea!
Hope this isn't too disruptive. Might help you stay frozen!

Thank you for the heads up - I ordered online on Black Friday. Nothing odd in my account, yet. I'll keep checking.

Thanks for the heads up. I made online purchases (all for in store pickup) in October/early November and the first week of this month and have resorted to using my CC information (though I never save it to my account) because I end up with ridiculous errors every time I try and use Paypal since they changed their system 3ish years ago, so I let my husband know to watch. Not everything went through our bank (he's had his bank details compromised so he gets notifications for things...I don't), some went through my CC, so this ought to be fun.

My last purchase was in early November but I still had two credit card numbers stored in my profile. I just deleted them. Thanks for posting this!

I've made a lot of online purchases with Joann's this year and haven't had a problem. Many times hackers will get lists of card numbers, sit on them for a year or so, then try to use the card number(s) to make purchases. I opened a Chase checking account earlier this year to take advantage of their $600 free money. Chase sent a debit card but I never used it. The card was compromised three different times. I closed the account last week.
