I texted that story to my son last night. His reply was: “Oh yeah, so ridiculous. But then...he’s a white dude.” While that may sound like he was being flip, trust me, he was not.
Pretty much sums it all up. I’m disgusted. Not that that’s a new feeling.

He could be fed organic bread and water.
The article I read quoted his mother as saying that he gets very sick if he doesn't eat organic foods. No problem.

OMG, color me so not surprised when I scrolled down to the photo and found out it was Mr. Special Snowflake who still lives with this mom. As far as I know no one gets sick from not eating organic foods. I wish I could buy all organic foods but my budget doesn't allow it. What I do is buy organic from the Dirty Dozen list (a list of the foods highest in pesticides) and by non-organic for the clean 15. I do know that vegetarians and vegans can get sick if they eat meat because their guts no longer have the enzymes to process the meat in them. If I eat meat after being vegan for 6 years I get really sick-severe cramping and diarrhea. It doesn't kill me but it's very painful. For some strange reason fish or seafood doesn't do that-I tell my family I must have been a mermaid in a former life.

I had an employee once upon a time who pierced her nose. Management (a conservative bunch) went ballistic but HR did not specifically have a policy against it. But we spent many hours at a client site and the client had a rule against facial piercings. So in the interest of client relations (but really to appease management), HR made a policy that basically said that if you do work for a specific client, at their site, you have to abide by their policies for dress and grooming. Presented the policy to her. She came back the next day and said her piercings were protected under religious freedom because she was a member of the Church of Body Modification. I can assure you she was not, and never had been past or present, a member of such church. But in the name of religious freedoms, a lot can be done.
So, my point is... this isn't about organic foods, or even about religion. It is about a very savvy man who has been prepped for what to say and do if he gets arrested. He is setting up the system to recognize that he has religious beliefs that he will then use as a part of his defense.
